I think they did this to try to not let the RB Dominance too Dominant, for example in 2003 F1 had a new points system when in 2002 Ferrari had as much points as every other team in the championship combined, so to try to stop Schumacher-Ferrari Dominance or atleast make them less dominant they made the 2003 Points System, and it kinda worked as there was a 3-way battle for the championship between Schumacher, Raikkonen, and Montoya but Schumi was able to win anyways. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Verstappen wins anyways

I wouldn't mind everyone getting a point, it's not like it matters anymore anyway as going from the winner getting 8 points to them getting 25 now already made everything way more complicated to count and compare. At least that would fairly show how well all the teams did throughout the season and who undoubtedly did the worst and best during a full season

Yup, I'm definitely in favour of points down to 12th. It removes the confusion over countbacks to best positions for the lower teams and just makes the positions much easier to understand. There was talk of points for all finishers but that's potentially even more baffling. And if the current season wasn't so tediously predictable then I'd probably be in favour of a point for pole position like IndyCar. Maybe a point for pole if you're not leading the championship?

I've wanted to have the winner score 20 points instead of 25 points for quite some time now, personally, I think it would make the championship a little closer in my opinion

Agreed; Also it will be easier to tell the difference between the bottom teams; 2 or more are at 0 points indicates 'equally bad', and ofcoarse that is never the case.

Frankly, I haven’t seen a good argument as to why *everyone* (or at least all but last/last 2) shouldn’t get points. Given RB’s domination, there are really only 2 reasons to watch: hoping Max/Checo falters allowing for a surprise ala Sainz’s win, or seeing a bottom 10 driver fight their way into the points. If the battles from 11-20 were for points, it would reward consistency out of drivers and allow their teams to actually fight for something. It would be another reason to watch, and just make it easier to tell at a glance who is having the better season overall out of the bottom 10. It’s good for fans, it’s good for drivers, it’s good for teams.

I would add. Give 1 point for FL in practice sessions. Just to give a little something to watch for. Now it's kind of meaningless "Oh Alonso was P1 in FP1" yeah so?

Makes no sense. Rewarding mediocrity and garbage isnt going to make the mediocre and shitty teams any better. Handing out these participation trophies is useless. You want to get some points? Make a better car.
