Hiroo Onoda, a Japanese solider, fought in World War 2 for nearly 30 years on the Philippines Island of Lubang. Refusing to believe that his country would surrender, Onoda would spend nearly 3 decades fighting a guerilla war on the Island of Lubang. Eventually pardoned for his continued warfare against the local villagers, Onoda would return to Japan a hero.
