Dear Polymatter, your channel is seriously underrated. I genuinely get exited everytime there's a new upload. Wish you the greatest success all the way to a million subscribers and beyond.
Aspect Science, seen your videos, love your channel! It seems that there is a tribe of RU-vid users and creators that watch lots of edutainment channels like Wendover Productions, Real Life Lore and other great channels. I think the gap between the smart and stupid people will be huge in the future as the stupid people will waste their time watching trash like Logan Paul and Zoella while the smart people will be watching these amazing educational channels like Polymater, Aspect Science, Wendover Productions and so on!!
Amazon creepily starts reminding me of Wall-E's _'Buy n Large'_ , the Pixar universe's megacorp that slowly takes monopoly over pretty much anything commercial the world has to offer
@Super Cool Sorry, but shopping was never made to entertaining. Sure, it can be, and some people do find shopping fun to do, but it's not fun like a sport, it's usually done out of necessity. If you can get what you need easier and cheaper then you should do it that way
@Super Cool Of course you have seen people first buy a pair of clothing online and then give up on it, but we don't live in 2010 anymore. If I were to buy clothes online I would get a waybill with it so I can send it back if it wasn't for me, so that isn't an issue anymore. Online shopping is taking over
@@maurogori5425 dude a person needs to make money, just because there are sponsors doesn't mean he's a sellout. He's a genuinely great RU-vidr with a great attitude. The fact that he needs sponsors means he takes time to make the videos, that makes him dedicated and amazing.
I do wish Amazon verified real companies like Nike instead of promoting knockoffs. It's hard to tell what real and fake when you're not hold the product in your hands.
Nikes website doesn't offer 2 day shipping and a good return policy, Amazon does. I also trust Amazon a lot more with my private information than I trust Nike
I bought a ball for my dog from Amazon. They brought it from China to my home in Anchorage Alaska for five bucks. However you slice it that business model is not survivable.
Funny how your not aware who the sucker is...they paid $.05 per ball in bulk. US military keeps oil prices low and USPS via tax payers subsides the shipping cost...congrats on getting ripped off.
Charalampos Koundourakis: Well, other than people wanting to be the first to know what’s happening to those who are close to them, this can lead to information about you being implied (correctly or otherwise) and people using that against you.
The surprise teen pregnancy is always used as an example of how ads are so incredibly accurate, but it ignores the millions of baby stuff ads sent to young women who are not pregnant. It was demographics and luck, and possibly a related purchase or internet search, but unlikely for a paper ad. I'm 30 and have been bombarded by baby stuff ads for years. I have never been pregnant, but based on my clicks, advertisers know that I'm a woman of child bearing age. Target is not full of psychic super spies.
A practical solution in the USA, but a deceptive website for the rest of the world. Amazon advertises free shipping everywhere on the site, but as soon as you click checkout, a small section with a minuscule font will ask 70$ of shipping for a $15 product.
7:53 "It knows how to rank first in its own website" Isn't manipulating search result placement illegal? The EU fined Google $2.7 billion for favouring its own shopping services compared to their competitors under anti-trust laws.
Very informative video and great graphics. As for Amazon being worth $1 trillion, I think it is priced very high for it's actual earnings. People are buying more for the growth story than the actual fundamentals. During the internet bubble there was another blue chip growth story stock that was supposed to reach $1 trillion dollars soon. Then the bubble popped and 18 years later this company is still down 60% from where it was when everyone loved it. If Amazon's growth slows the people who buy Amazon for the momentum and the hope of high growth will abandon the stock and it will trade back to a normal P/E. When that happens, it could drop 70% or more. When the internet bubble popped in 2000, Amazon dropped 93% from it's high in just one year. History doesn't repeat itself, but it rhymes.
It’s nearly impossible to invest in Amazon because of its value (especially the value per share), as diversification gets difficult with those amounts of money...
Is there any way you could upload your audio for each episode as a podcast on spotify? Because 1) you would make some money from it 2) its so much easier to listen to your videos while walking and not have to keep youtube running.
I’m such a loyal amazon customer, items are cheap, way more options, and arrives quick. Idk how but if I return something they usually tell me to keep the item and give me the refund.
Amazon has changed my shopping habit and the way I shop. It is so convenient as I don't need to get into my car and drive on the freeway and then look for parking and deal with long lines at the check out counter. Also, the prices on Amazon often is lower price than the retail stores and with prime shipping the product delivers in two days.
@@joere-uploader5766 My proposition is to continuously make things better as time goes on, because that's literally the entire point of progress. Also, what's wrong with someone not wishing to leave *their* house? And if you don't want to leave the house, ordering something online is the best option. There's no point in getting mad at progress and calling it "laziness". Are you using an internet connected device right now? Well that's laziness, you should write a message and send a raven like they did in the old days.
Department of Motor Vehicles by your logic using a car to get to work is “lazy” because you can walk instead. Technology is meant to make our lives easier.
Polymatter, your channel is pretty good and your contents are great and they are simplified to the extent where anyone with a fair knowledge in English could understand. Thanks for you work. Kudos!
It's funny how yesterday I did a presentation on Amazon and their valuation in business class and this video was uploaded after the presentation. I'm sad that I couldn't show the class your video.
Low prices doesn't seem to work as an argument against anti-trust laws. Standard Oil made kerosene cheap and kept it cheap but they still got broken up.
The next step will be Predictive Shopping. Items "you may be interested in" mysteriously appear at your doorstep while their costs mysteriously vanish from your account, lol.
Some form of this already exist (albeit it isn't very predictive) in the form of Amazon's "Subscribe N' Save" feature. You set a recurring purchase plan for a common consumable that you enjoy and Presto! products magically appear at your door and funs magically disappear from your account at set intervals throughout the year. The goal is to "predict" exactly when you've run out of your favorite consumable and ship it to you so that you're never have to miss out on your favorite product @@pwnmeisterage
Hey Polymatter, great channel! Talking about Amazon, here is a short business tip: Speaking as an international viewer (EU), you might want to consider signing up to the Amazon affiliate program, registering for every single country and posting the international affiliate-link below your videos. When users click on the link, they are redirected to the Amazon version of their own country, earning you commissions under their countries respective Amazon affiliate program. You would just need to include some book regarding the topic of your video (or any other product available on Amazon). Could be a high impact activity with low time and money commitment to you, just saying.. Keep up the great work!
@@InfernoBlade64 well technically it's the warehouse supervisors that treat the employees like crap. Some supervisors aren't that bad but with executive positions like that a lot of folks go corrupt (see Dallas mavs disaster)
Winston Shih The money Amazon makes is managed way more efficeintly than whatever you can come up with, if it invested in "not treating people like slaves" it would make less profit and have less money to give its employees and to "not treat people like slaves".
you are completely skipping the chinese e-commerce market and not even really mentioning it. it is misleading towards the viewers as they will think that amazon controls 49% of the market and so and on.
I hope you do know that Walmart just bought Flipkart to jump in online market. Wait for a year. And they will partner with alphabet, to compete. Amazon machine learning has a huge way to go and also, they are turning into a seller platform so low prices will not be there for long. The only business that will actually make something for Amazon is AWS
I love this channel. The videos are great, but there's more to it than that. This guy's segues to sponsor promo's are so buttery smooth that I never see them coming..... Lol I may come for the videos, but I stay to guess when those GQ style promo's will stride on scene so nonchalantly that it's almost classy. 😆
Tolkien, saya ingat beliau pernah menuliskan “Some believe it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps because I am afraid, and he gives me courage.” Kami percaya yang kami lakukan adalah "Small acts of kindness and love".
I love how we normalized that target story by thinking "Wow target got that prediction right" but not "Wow Target is spying on my daughters sexual life and knows where she lives" best part...the father felt he had to give a apology! lol!!!
This is a bad way of looking at it. An Ai looked at everyone who had a similar shopping pattern to her and realized an extremely large majority end up buying diapers, baby food etc... It was simple analysis, nothing else.
@@juniorbitare-hebert6711 The focus should not be on the AI, but rather on the data and the methods used by Target to obtain it. This raises the concern that people may not fully realize the gravity of companies having access to personal information, and the negative consequences that could stem from its usage.
Target is not spying on a woman's sexual life lmao, they don't have that power, they do have the power to observe their purchasing patterns and make a comparison with other buyers. It's no less different than noticing a close female friend of yours is more sensitive to smell or something, Target just notices it through what you buy. And address? I'm pretty sure she filled that out herself when she applied for a card.
Getting information when you can't directly access it is like trying to figure out a secret recipe without knowing all the ingredients. Imagine being able to peek into the chef's pantry and see what's missing after they've cooked a meal. By observing this, you can piece together the recipe's unique flavor. Similarly, if you can control the information surrounding the inaccessible data, you can indirectly obtain the desired knowledge, giving you the power to access that information, it only would take a single mischievous, bored target employee with access to that data to whip up recipes so potent it would even make you pregnant😆
Hey PolyMatter. These videos are awesome. Its so good you do it in basic animations. I watch this when im high and man i love it. Im going to get into brilliant soon when i have some more time. :P please keep up the great work.

Not scary in Belgium, Amazon is pretty pathotic here :-), To have deliverry free option, you need to go to amazon france, ignoring that over 60% of belgian speak dutch.. for dutch books and ebook you need to go to amazon germany, witch charges big to deliver in Belgium. An amazon Netherlands doesn't exist, witch gave AH the option of launching is't own website Bol.com with is the online leader in the northern half of Belgium and the Netherlands. So competiting guaranteed here, cause of the long time amazon took to have any real delivery here :-). Amazon is slowly increasing, but locally bol.com is very well known now, so most will look at bol.com website too before considering to press buy on Amazon product..
That's what every company is trying to do but the difference is Amazon is actually doing it. They have faced the law several times with their acquisitions and their growth, it's pretty obvious.
Really? Thing is that you have to have a large enough competitor in the first place to be able to provide for enough people. And who will that be if amazon manages to outcompete everybody in one of it's or all of it's respective fields and then subsequently those companies go down. Even if the providers for amazon eventually decide to stop providing and selling directly, who stops amazon from merging with said companies or to make their own? Who says that they even exist in the first place?
I would like to thank you. Not only for inspiring me to learn video editing, but also for recamending skillshare as a learning platform and giving out 2 month free signup! Keep making videos and inspire more people!
Lazy? Why spend my time, gas, car wear and tear, time looking for the item..let's say one hour minimum,my time is money. I've just wasted time and money doing that. I coulda spent 5 minutes online.
