Apologies for any hammer or drill sounds you might hear at the beginning or end. They started construction across from me this week and it's been really hard to find a time in between any of the noise to get a video done. Even so, I managed to look a mess and forget to say "This is Vector". Sigh. Huge thanks to Neil Cybart for joining me and helping me get this one done. And to all of you for watching!
Man Google will demonitize this video because you didn't use anagram from FPT and call the beer flu!Use right name for dissease and you spreading global panic😌!
@@ilijaciceric2795 They demonetized FPT anyway. But I don't have monetization on, so my only fear is they won't really let it get seen much. We'll find out!
Rene Ritchie The noises weren’t an issue for me. I heard them throughout the entire video though, not just the beginning or end. The noises didn’t overpower anything, so as I said, no problem. I just thought you lived under an exceptionally busy train station or something. Great video By the way, very informative.
Unfortionate it had to happen this way but let this be a lesson for the whole world to not put 90%+ of it;s production and manufacturing in 1(one) country.
Because the buying public will not accept rising prices these companies have no choice. China has the labor force with sufficient education to make these products. China has the physical factories and advanced machinery that no other developing country has. None of these companies can just pick up and leave China for Vietnam, India, wherever.
I guess you didn't understand video. Can you ask US to not keep most of the tech giant companies in Silicon valley. Can you ask NASA to no have HQ in One city etc..On the second note It's not just manufacturing All apple store throughout china is closed so that is gonna take a big impact as well. At last no one could predict it hopefully situation recover fast
MemoryOf TheFuture not only that, 90% of the world is unfortunately falling into China’s ideological utopian model of doing business without being aware of their sinister plan to become the next world power through falsely claiming what does not legitimately belong to them geographically. Many do not understand, even ignorant of, their master plan to this approach of domination through propaganda just because of their colossal work force they readily take advantage of, mostly in unethical and immoral ways!
Great video! The lighting on you is a bit too hot/bright. But I can see that if you lowered the brightness in post production, you may have made the background too dark. Two suggestions for dealing with this. If you can dim your lights at all, that would help. Or, if you can create more distance between you and the lights on you, that could help too. Both would also soften the light, creating less harsh shadows on your face. The lighting in the background is looking better too! Great to see your setup evolving over time
Oh my God.. I come here to escape all the relentless Coronavirus coverage seemingly drowning the whole world. And Rene makes almost a whole video about it! LOL PS: Love from Italy
For real though, all Empires eventually fall. Whether it's 10 years from now or a hundred. The phone market is not a sustainable business forever, so they will have to change constantly to survive.
Here in China everything shuts down for 3 or 4 weeks every year for Spring Festival. Perhaps manufacturing might be affected for 2 or 3 months but that equates to 1 or 2 months wrt a normal year. Don't forget that a huge chunk of the rest of the world's mobile phones are also made here and are affected similarly. Don't think it's a unique problem for Apple.
@@Bobb9099 Samsung don't. Only the Chinese OEMs and Apple do really. I'm sure other smaller Western companies do, but since they're not big names it's hardly worth talking about them using Foxconn
I don’t know what does that have to do with Apple only? ALL companies who produce in China will have the same issues - and that is probably 95 % off ALL Tech companies. Apple was actually the first one being transparent and came out with numbers and forecasts . ALL other companies will follow . This is nothing specific to Apple at all. And a company like apple will not be DOOMED at all, as all competition will and does have the same issue - sorry i missed the point of your video completely
It would've been VERY hard to hold for quite a few years when it as down 70-80% in the 2000s, and I don't think anyone thought it was a sure thing to make it through their financial troubles back then, but it's been over a decade of being a company you shouldn't sell/trade.
Clara RICHARDSON well because all of their production for the IPhone is done in China their quarterly projections are going to underperform rather than go up as they might have expected. This means flagship launch delays
Kyle Buchwald I’m not saying Apple is _literally_ doomed because of China. That wasn’t the point of the video. The point of the video is they’re having more difficulties because of their over reliance on China.
RadicalxEdward as is most of the manufacturing world - not even just the tech world. In Apples case, Rene even talks about how there are few places in the world that can manufacture the quantity of items required by Apple, not to mention the quality. Then when you start talking the cost to manufacture, if they moved anywhere else the cost would probably double (at least) - people are already stating how expensive premium phones are becoming. Lastly, Apple are amongst the first to acknowledge the slow down due to problems in China. I can guarantee there will be more to follow. I know that manufacturing in Australia has even felt it because they cannot get parts out of China.
AJ Booster really? Cell phone sales are the majority of Apple’s revenue. You don’t think that the current issues would have an effect on their numbers?
I’m switching to Samsung anyways.. tired of apples same old same old phone. They give us mediocre phones that just work. I’m ready for change. Samsung is killing it right now.
kristian barker Killing it? You mean like the foldable phone (yeah they killed that idea for sure), or the mostly useless 100x “Space zoom” feature? If it’s the latter, I hope you carry a very steady tripod around with you at all times. Otherwise it’s shake city. Even then the digital zoom that takes over at 10x will be average to below average at best. They had to throw in a 108 megapixel sensor which will probably perform poorly with low light (space is definitely low light, except for the moon). Focal length is a thing. It sounds cool to have a smartphone that can do such things. But it’s the wrong tool for the job. Physics. What a downer. It always gets in the way.
Steve Steele lol I totally understand what you are saying and you are correct. I’m talking about the s10 note 10. The ultra seems good but worried about battery life with 5G and 120hz refresh. I’d probably turn both off and use 4G and 60hz. Just to save battery. I like the ability to multi task. Watch a video and text someone. Why we can’t do that in 2020 with Apple pisses me off! Only 1080p video on RU-vid. 1440 with android. All the customization you could ever ask for. Apple you can change your wallpaper. 👍🏼. I’m just ready for change. Apple brings the same thing every year. Just upgrades what they already have. Slightly. I will saying battery life is finally good! Best even with the pro max. Have you had a Samsung lately? I have a s10 for two months just to try it. I miss it.
China’s unfortunate situation will affect many companies and businesses across the globe not because they have their “evil hands” in all matters but because they’re an important partner to many, political issues aside. Their impact goes both ways and say what you want about them but the global economy needs them and they need it. On a human level, I hope everyone there stays safe and those who are affected can get the help they all deserve.
Wilson Rosario naivety is what will keep making things sooo difficult to the world as long as most companies put majority of their eggs in basket called China. China doesn’t operate like other countries it thrives through taking away from others to make that their own for only one goal TO RULE THE WORLD and if or when it happens most of these naive people will be on their knees asking themselves WHY DID WE LET THIS HAPPEN?
"Political issues aside" you should change with these words - genocide, supression of freedom of speech, human rights abuse, IP theft, extortion, debt trap aka new colonialism, mass rape, mass murder, Orwellian credit system, assault on democratic values & democratic countries around the globe etc. ✌ West should do zero business with China, big fat ZERO!
Great video. IMO people are making it sound like the world is falling apart. I am more concerned about peoples health, seems like others (not you rene) are more worried about getting their new devices. Again this is just my observation, I could be totally wrong.
NYRfan4ever Eh, business is business...sometimes you have to do certain things and you appear uncaring, but that isn’t the case. Apple has contributed to the cause, but they and other associated entities have to protect themselves and their investors...yup, it sucks if you have any humanity.
Apple should be producing their products in the US anyway. I know the price would go up but it would create jobs. They’ve made millions upon millions and avoided paying taxes like some of the other major tech related companies yet citizens barely staying afloat have to pay their taxes 😩
My understanding is that it's not so much prices going up but that North America has essentially abandoned manufacturing. We stopped funding trade schools and we allowed companies to shift jobs overseas to increase their profits. We would have to invest heavily in creating manufacturing zones (like Shenzhen in China) and in training millions of people for those jobs. It's one of those things that's super easy to say but super hard to accomplish, especially since we seem to care more about our video games then our economies these days.
If iPhones were manufactured in the US,, nobody outside of the US would be able to afford them. That would cost Apple a lot of money unless they absorbed some of the cost. Apple don't do that
Passenger flights can affect trade as well due to people transporting business commodities that otherwise would be complex to transport by commercial shipping so it’s going to be a tight fit to determine how this is going to affect modern communities
I agree with most what the analyst said but on one thing he is wrong: production. China has nothing to do with the quality of the product makes. I try to explain myself: Apple design a product and, with it, all the production process. then they go to prototype phase, where they make a few (or a few hundred) in a non automated way, in this phase they try to understand how the look & feel of the final product will be and also they try to foresee any production issue when they will move to a fully automated production cycle. Then they finalize the product AND, with this, they finalyze how to make it.. which means they may have to change some part of the product if they designed it the proper way, very few, if they screwed up, a lot... this will leave them with a PROCESS that will lead to a finished, shippable, sellable product. China? I am not sure Foxconn is involved if not when the product is finalized for the gig and fizture implementation, but those implementation are DRIVEN by the final design. What Apple found in China was a company willing to "risk" the investment to produce for them a huge amount of product.. also they had access to cheap labor (it is still cheaper than the US and most of Europe) because Apple is not producing the phone, Apple design and sell them, this is it.. Apple, with all the cash that they have, can create a production line capable to do what Foxconn does, and then some.. will it be the way to go? well, probably not.. but there are too many aspect to take into consideration before hearing the last word on this. Personally I think Apple should embrace Tesla MegaFactory models.. TWO IS ONE, ONE IS NOTE THREE IS BETTER. I hope nobody got offended by my poor english, what I expressed is just my opinion, it may be right, it may be wrong, but it is just an opinion based on my work experience. Have a nice day
I know this was mentioned in the video… And I apologize for my ignorance. I know nothing about finance or anything like that. However, wouldn’t it be great for the economy here in the United States if Apple brought manufacturing back home?
Every financial report means Apple is doomed. Every Apple product is boring, same old same old Every apple user is smug, entitled It’s all so tiring to hear over and over. Glad this time it’s a little different at least.
