The funnest spec of any camera? Its slow motion capabilties. Why are we seeing companies over and over again remove slow mo from their cameras? Sony RX100 series and ZV1 could do 960fps, and now their newer ZV1 II can't. Huawei P40 Pro could do 7680fps and now the Pura 70 Ultra can only do 960fps. If we aren't reaching for higher and higher frame rates, what are we even doing? 8k? 16k? How does that improve our cinematic scenes?

As European I always asked myself why the camera manufacturers cap our speed at 100 fps (25*4) instead of giving at least 125? It’s just 5fps more than US frame rates… hardware wise I think any camera can do this … PS I follow you by many years, dropped many, you are always in my list because you say the truth and you are sooooo entertaining! ❤

I think it has to do with buffering. The reason the RX10 and RX100's could do it is because of the smaller sensor and lower resolution. I heard it's very expensive to use a stacked sensor with a good amount of DRAM to support even larger sensors with even 1080P resolution at those high frame rates (480 and 960 fps) at two seconds. I think we will be waiting a while to see these super high frame rates on an APS-C or Full Frame camera. You're a big enough channel to get a Chronos 4K 12 for $15,000. I'm sure you can afford that! That's super cheap compared to a phantom. lol

That's where you're wrong, Sony already had 960fps in their older cinema cameras. FS5 and others.

@@cameraconspiraciesyeah but the resolutions are capped at 360P and 480P upscaled to 1080P with heavy aliasing and moire. Lol They weren’t useable resolutions at 480 and 960 for cinematic use . Look again at the FS700 and FS5 HFR quality and say that same thing to me again. Lol😅😊 The most reasonable thing to expect maybe within 5 years is Nikon releases a camera that uses their patented 4K 1000 fps one inch sensor. It’s easier to do the high frame rates at higher resolutions with a smaller sensor. One inch sensor with interchangeable and sharpish Laowa 0.95 lenses is all I need.

One only need to look at a9iii and find out why A6500 has a buffer around 3gb and so does the a7iii , the a6500 can do around 300 jpegs, but something like 300 fps means youll need a stack sensor and around 4-5gb of ram to store it all in, probably 6-7 realistically to run the af calculation at that speed and not have it freeze up. Then theres the matter of offloading the files. A video feed of 4k120 at 10-12 bit is hard, imagine 14 bit at twice or triple the speed, and raw at that, with bitrates nearing raw videos at that point

Have you tried the zeiss batis 85 1.8 vs that sony macro? (I recall seeing it in lenses you own) I have it, filmed indoors with it, looks cool. Love your nature slomo, so majestic, wish my a7 iv could do 240.

I've been having fun at the airport shooting airplanes landing in slow motion. My camera can only do 1080@120fps and only with S-AF or manual focus, but shooting in daylight I can just use T/8 and zone focus in manual mode. I would like to get a longer zoom so I can get in real close to the wheels. E-M1 Mk III, 40-150mm T/2.8 + 1.4x teleconverter.

I had just restring my liquid metal tennis raquet with 65 lb 17ga titanium holibirds, I hit a ground stroke at 90 mph, it was a dogged swing, like Bruce Lee with the nun chucks. But then a thousand years later, I learned how to serve. Each mental force you put into a space with your body, adds dimensions to that space. So your hitting three serves at once, so gravity is much higher. Crazy glue does the opposite, it exists more purely, so it's in more places in our universe. I put one drop of 988 on my stuff, then another one appears somewhere else. Lol. I hit a bunch of overhead smashes at the net, but never in practice because you always want it to be crisp, "put this vector two feet over the net". But your moving back and forth over your head, so each of you can move at the same time, wilfully, or you can increase your heart rate, but its more energetic than ultrasonic contortionist.

Isn't that Fuji 500 for the GFX system? Or, is one also coming for X mount? I've read good things about the 150-600, but I think the XF50-140 T2.8 with the 1.4X teleconverter is probably the one. Just too expensive for me right now. Love the bee footage. Don't know how you are able to follow those things!! Take care and keep cool! BTW, I was watching that Johnny Strides guy who walks around Toronto and he mentioned the closed nature trail you talked about a while back. Interesting guy. He was shooting with the Pocket 3. Isn't it obvious? ROI isn't there. Computing power and the physical and financial issues associated with those problems don't project to sell enough units to be worth the while. Its the same with my 60 mpx Z7iii still image centric camera. There just isn't enough call for it to be worth their while.

Even more than that, to get more frames per second you need to reduce quality because it takes more processing power. So you have to choose between quality and frames per second and it;'s obvious what the priority is.

Today, you're kind of getting the point of Sony. It's a technical tool that helps you shoot the images you want. Once you have footage that is in focus, sharp and properly exposed, then you give it any look you want in post, i.e. colours, contrast and the rest.

As I already mentioned on your other video's, the A9iii has insect detect and DMF. Insect detect works better on butterflies like that Comma you were shooting than the bees. It also has bird eye detect...though I'm not sure how well it would have picked out the Yellow Warbler at a distance with the 90mm. If you had your 200-600mm, you could have zoomed right in on it, and if needed, used manual focus to fine tune. However, it is a heavy lens for hand holding. I use a tripod with gimbal mount.

Have you tried A6700? The 1080p footage suck badly on that camera, but it has this 4k120 with 1.58x crop, which combined with 1.5 apsc crop is able to magnify in to some really nice quality magic. BTW that X-S20 you thinking about buying has crappy 1080p also. 40mpx fujis have better 1080p240 imo, probably because they skipping less pixels in 1080p mode??

Only use my Panasonic G9 mk2 to shoot super high frame rates (240 - 300fps) tennis videos. I'm a novice with manual focus, any suggestions for capturing clear images from far distances? Never quite sure when I'm preciously in-focus. Still have my Sony RX10 mk4 with auto-focus but bought the G9 mk2 because of the continuous shooting. The Sony could only shoot in 4 - 7 sec segments at the high frame rates.

@@unbroken1010 Pretty good actually, on par with APS-C from like 2016 At ISO 100 - 1600 you will be hard pressed to see a difference, get a fast prime if you mostly shoot low light. G9 is an amazing body though, its arguably the best handling MFT on par with Nikon bodies.

I really don’t need higher than 120fps, but I’d love to see a camera that can do a full sensor readout (no pixel binning or line skipping) at 6K 120fps and downsample to 4K in a high quality ALL-I format. Basically the same as high-end 6K cameras do with 60fps.

Chronos 4K12 for $15,000 or Freefly Ember for $18,000. Choose your poison. lol If you're okay with 720P, the Chronos 1.4 does around 1500 fps for $4,000 - $5,000.I t upscales pretty well to 2K with Topaz VEAI.

I can handle about a minute of slow motion - at max - before I fall asleep. Zack Snyder and his obsession with slow motion is what makes his films SOOOO boring. Virtually every scene has slow motion in it. Unless the subject matter itself is interesting, slow motion is pointless. The slower, the more boring, unless there's a purpose behind it.

Yes but in Star Trek the "Prime Directive" was followed which allowed that imaginary advanced civilization of sorts to become realized. We don't follow the Prime Directive as a society so it doesn't have a chance of happening. We're lucky we have the cameras we do, but they are made in Japan and China, nations that have a semblance of pride left.

Baby steps. Let’s get 240 4K. Will need to get sensor read times down below 1/500 for that to look good when subjects fill frame. IMHO HD isn’t very useful with no room to reframe, crop, or stabilize in post, especially if your target audience isn’t on a tiny phone screen.

Have you watched Ant Lab's RU-vid channel? Great use of slomo, kind of scientific and not just random bees. I don't see where it says what camera or lens he uses but he seems to have good frame rates, great focus and exposure.

Why don't you consider the new 70-200 f4? Yep not a prime but it's a very better lens to film macro in my opinion, and you already have the teleconvertor to boost the magnification.

Why? Simply overheating. There is a regulation in EU for lower temperature thresholds than in rest of the world that require the device to force shutdown. To keep the costs down they cut high framerates instead of upgrading the heatsink, add a fan, get rid of cheap plastic body or simply enable high framerates by integrating gps or other features that would enable high framerates outside of the eu.

Most professional photographers only have 3 - 5 lenses and most of them are primes, maybe there have one 24-70mm or the 24-105mm but thats it.

@@SMGJohn You just made that up. Professionals use zooms more than primes because you need to be prepared for all scenes and shooting distances. In most circumstances, you don't have time to swap lenses, so the zooms save your day. The professional grade zoom lenses have good enough IQ that most people won't tell them apart from primes. Primes are more for studio work where you are in control of everything.

@@audioupgrades I made it up? Is that why we always use two cameras in shoots? Because we do not have time to swap lenses like you said, wow, you must be the expert here. Or maybe you have no idea what you are on about, thats why we carry two cameras, with two primes just because we do not have time to swap lenses, also a F2.8 is usually TOO slow indoors and F1.4 or faster is preferred. If you shoot outdoor then F4 is preferable because you rather not have too much background blur specially for journalistic work but even for weeding work you still want to maintain a lot of the background in your shots so you often use F8 or F11. But hey, what do I know right? I am just the dude with two Sony Alpha 900 cameras been shooting in over 1000 events in my life LOL

Primes are nice, but you cannot escape the reality that a decent zoom provides in as much as more likely to get the shot. You can overcome this with multiple bodies. You need to cover a range much of the time. So, it becomes a question of cost & what you can carry, unless your just doing landscapes.
