It's obvious that women can race the same distances as men in cycling, so why don't they do it? Why does the UCI still create shorter races for women than men. It doesnt happen in triathlon, so why does it happen in cycling?

Completely agree - it would also save on costs with event promotion, traffic management, health and safety

If it were as easy as just an arbitrary decision, yes it'd be the same. But it's not. Pro cycling is an extremely difficult sport from the logistics perspective, 150km+ of road closures, support, media, sometimes for 3 weeks straight in a different spot each day moving across a country. It took 100 years to build pro men's cycling into what it is today. And let's not pretend even now men's pro cycling is a particularly rich or successful or financially stable sport. It often has funding problems at the level of the riders, teams, media contracts, and event levels. Women's cycling has come an enormous way in the last 10 years. Yes it has a long way to go still, and it's good to push for change, but let's not be delusional about it. It needs to be financially viable for the stakeholders, it needs time for the pathways and competitive depth to develop, it needs to build relationships between the events and teams and media. Just saying "run a women's TdF same route, same distance, on the same day" is not realistic or helpful.

I don't think its at all about lack of endurance. Its about lack of funding. Stage races are expensive af and the women's races just do not bring in the same kind of media interest. Yet. I hope this will improve in time. And in shorter races, I prefer the women's courses because the men's take all day. I don't really want to watch a whole day of racing especially when the first half is basically a group ride.

Tim, you are right. Too many old farts control many sports. Many of them have self-interest at heart. (6:03 's grandad here)

I think he answers his own questions when he admits knowing nothing about cycling or the UCI. Stick to Tris

Don't make it on the same day. I wanna watch the mens TdF first and then the TdF Femmes avec Swift. Then I'd get 6 weeks of cycling on Free TV.

In 2019, a woman won the transcontinental race across Europe, close to 4000 km men and women racing one another in the same distance at the same time so yes they can do the same as men.

You can't generalize that way. The number of participants is too small and the cost/reward of participating is too high to attract enough of the world's best athletes to have a representative result for what men or women can achieve
