Yes, and the result of what we've been doing for the last three generations is clearly negative overall. We're not counting the exceptions....we can't create a society based on exceptions. Every functional society in history and all around the world has set up family systems that lock in the care, nurturing, and care of the next generation. It may not look like the European-style nuclear family, but _they've got it locked in._ They have identified who is accountable and the village holds those people to it. If people don't care for their children the way they should, the village holds them accountable. A man who doesn't measure up; doesn't get to father children. There is no "you do you" in any _functional_ culture.

I get all points but in TODAYS market, if you are a man with 0 kids and your business is in order, I would not deal with a single mother with small kids. I think small kids is a key point. I’ve met a few females looking to actually blend families bc consciously they know that route may turn out more successful leading to a marriage. I raised somebody child from 3yo until he was 23 when I got a divorce, paid his medical insurance until he was 26. They both are basically non existent in my life today. Twenty years lost. It’s very important for MEN and WOMEN to choose wisely and not bc you want some pay or dck for the night. In reality, that’s where most kids come from.

I am a man who had his real father in his life as well as a step dad who I love and appreciate. I am also married to a woman who was a single mother. With all that said, I ALWAYS ADVISE ALL MEN TO STAY AWAY FROM WOMEN WITH KIDS AND START THEIR OWN FAMILIES. It is not a good deal no matter how you try to dress and pretty it up. Not even for "recreational use" as we like to say (that is how I got caught up). I made bad choices and I am performing my duties as a father and holding myself accountable for the situation I created, but I would NEVER advise a man to not go down a better path just because I didn't. If at all possible, AVOID IT!!!

Actually it's even worse in most cases. Because he is not actively raising his child. He created a baby mama and moved on to go find a wife. Now if you are bare comparing single fathers and single mothers, then they really are the same. I was raised by both. Well, not exactly single because my parents were married but they separated when I was 6 and never divorced. They lived in different cities though, so it felt like having a single mother. Then when my mom died, we moved with my dad and he raised us as a single father. In both cases, whoever they dated had to take the kids as a package deal. And yes there is a difference between a man who has a chikd and a "single father" because a single father has custody of his kids and is actively raising them alone.

I'm 42, and yes the chances of me running into women that have a kid or more is highly probable and finding women in their 30s - 40s without kids are very slim. If I were really interested in dating at this time in my life I'm not dating or getting involved w/women that have kids. Like why? I was born in DC, 1980 to be exact, Being the first child and grandchild. I was the second parent to my siblings and cousins. I never had kids and never married. I went to military school, when I got out in 97, everybody had kids. The dating pool has been full of single parents since the 90’s. It’s been rough out here for me. Every large extended family of 20-40 men has 3-5 men with hella children with different women who the men never intended to stay with. I see this in my extended family as well as others...The women that had these children didn't have a strong father or man in the family to steer her right and vet the men she chose to let smash...

I have a friend who has gotten 3 abortions w/ 2 living dog 2 different bd. Had an excellent father figure keep picking the wrong dude. What would you say her issue is??

@@Butterflies515 its culturally acceptable and imprinted into the culture now. It’s almost like a badge of honor. In before times the father had a huge influence on the daughters mate.

What you're calling an "extended family" is, sorry to say, just black American dysfunction. If you want to see a real extended family, go to some other nations that have hammered out exactly who in the family group _is allowed to have children,_ and who will raise those children. For instance, in the ancient Hawaiian family, it was the grandparents' role to raise the children. The parents learned from the grandparents, then when they became grandparents, they had the knowledge to raise their own grandchildren. In other cultures, aunts and uncles have _specific_ roles in raising children. They don't have so-called "extended families" of people having babies willy-nilly. Everyone has a specific role in raising the children, and their community holds them accountable to that role.

Dear Men, when you date a single mother you are implicating yourself in her divorce/breakup. Remember, women are like music execs, they don't adjust bad deals, they merely search for the next victim to sign it! So ask yourself, why is this position vacant????
