My friend was falsely arrested for drug charges because a cop saw his tattoos and dime bags and thought he was a drug dealer. The dime bags were clean and empty. My friend is a bartender and gets tipped coins all the time, so he has to put them in bags to keep them from getting lost. His family hooked him up with a lawyer and he got the charges dropped, but it really shook his trust in the police after that.

Wait what? Your friend had “empty clean dime bags” and you believe these are used to keep his coin tips in? You do realize how tiny these bags are, don’t you? Like WTF is he storing in those bags 2 nickels, a dime and a penny? Either you’re using the wrong vocabulary or your bartender friend (who BTW when they’re tipped they don’t actually keep the coins they change them out for bills at night) has pulled one over on you.

@@meganharrison6679 Seriously are you trolling? That is not a dime bag. What you describe is more like a ziplock sandwich bag. A true dime bag (empty or not) is likely to get you two charges. One for drug distribution the other for having drug paraphilia. The former you can probably get dropped with a plea deal. The latter you probably have to confess to and get a minor fine or community service for. The thing people don't understand about charges is that even if the case is dismissed in court, those charges are still on your record. When the police pull your name up in their system it will still show those past charges only they will also show that they have been dismissed. In the eyes of the officers, this is still a history of criminal activity as they have no idea or a way to find out why the charges were dismissed. You want a clean record? You got to get the charges expunged from your record. And for that you will need to hire an attorney. To be honest, for something like that you are going to want to hire an attorney in the first place. Get all charges dismissed and have them being expunged be part of the duties the attorney will perform for you. Probably won't even change the price the attorney will charge.

My husband was falsly arrested twice for supposedly beating me. The first time was because my ex called and lied saying he did it despite everyone questioned said otherwise but he's their favorite snitch so the cops believed him anyway. 2nd time some cops on late night patrol just jumped to conclusions and made up stuff just to get him arrested when we were arguing outside (nothing physical happened and we were at least 10 feet apart just bickering at eachother) they made up a bunch of stuff on the report and the body/dash cams proved we weren't lying. As a result my husband wasnt allowed to have contact with me, the 2nd time it went on for almost a year! Hubby developed a twitch disorder and has needed lots of counseling and therapy thanks to the stress of the situation. In short the cops where I live are a joke

When I was in college, I was the oldest student in the Dorm and had a single room. When the RA did an inspection of the room, I was out to class and he "found" my bottle of Vodka which was "hidden" on top of a dresser in the open. He called the police because of under age drinking and the cops came, did another search of my room and put my Vodka and shot glass in evidence bags. By then I had come back from class, the RA went off on my saying how I just ruined my life and under age drinking is illegal and I could and likely would get kicked out of school. All the while the two cops, one holding the two evidence bags where behind glaring at me. Finally one of the cops asked if I had anything to say, I did. "I am 21, so I can have that." That caused the RA eyes to widen and the police looked at each other as I pulled out my ID. The second cop checked it and nodded, he has been legal for almost a year. Now it was the RA turn to get glared at as the cops handed me back my Vodka and shotglass, school rules where if you where of age you could have it. Needless to say the cops began to rip the RA a new one for wasting almost an hour of their time. Worse part was the records of the ages of each person in the dorm was in the office, 1 floor down. It would have taken maybe 5 minutes for them to check my age.

Where I am, any drinking alcohol would still get confiscated, but the police wouldn’t get involved. …both because it’s too much work for the CAs and because I’m old enough to drink (not gonna because medications AND understanding of brain development, but still), it’s just that we aren’t allowed alcohol in the dorms.

I got falsely accused of abusing my girlfriend. I think the cops believed me because they left the cell door open, made me a pot noodle and gave me magazines. The other people who were arrested in the adjacent cells kicked off as they treated me differently. They were really nice and dropped me back off round the corner from where I was staying and made sure no one in the neighbourhood saw me. The officer gave me advice and I thanked him. Hardly spoke a word but it gave me comfort that someone believed me.

In the Aztec society (which, I'm not a fan of a lot of) the higher you were in society, the harsher your punishment. So it might be something like. Average Citizen x1 Justice of the Peace x2 (not sure if they exist in the USA, but people who can witness documents etc). Police x3 (enforce the law but don't make it) Politicians x4 (write the law) Judges x5 (rule on the law, including if the law itself is legal) And of course, all fines should be a dollar amount or a % of total wealth, whichever is higher.

It's entirely possible a lot of these accounts could have been deleted over the years for other reasons or were just throwaway accounts because some of the topics are technically confessions to illegal activity or activity that's highly immoral by public standards and could get them harassed.

I once lived in a place where cops busted in thinking we were going to have a “pot party”. They trashed our house and found nothing. I guess they got away with destroying our stuff and leaving us to replace it all.🤷🏻‍♂️
@j_g9109
@j_g9109 2 года назад
Unfortunately a very common event. My friend’s house got an unannounced raid. She was a struggling single mother working and going to school. Her POS ex (who’d been an ex for _years)_ had continued using her address as “his” without her knowledge. The -thugs- cops were there for him. She heard her front door busted in, thought she was getting robbed or worse, grabbed her baby and phone and hid in a closet. She was dragged out, screamed at, someone tried to rip her baby out of her arms, and she instinctively wouldn’t let go, earning a resisting arrest charge and child abuse charge. They added a “misuse of emergency line” because she made a 911 call from the closet. She wasn’t given a phone call for 2 days. The cops had busted the front door in. By the time family got there (2 days later when they finally found out what happened), not only had cops destroyed the house, but she’d been looted too. Friends and family made bail by 4 days. We didn’t let her go to the house and had her tell us what she needed. We didn’t want her to see the house like that. I have never seen someone so beaten before. Thankfully she had a huge support system, so although she lost her job, got evicted and had to fight CPS for 6 months, she had a safe place to stay with people to keep her sane. No one had known she was working _and_ going to school. She was blessed with a good lawyer, friend of a friend, that took her case pro bono and successfully got the charges _dropped._ Beyond that, nothing was done. No one was punished for not doing research on the validity of the address. The department refused to pay for any damages, claiming all the damage was from the looting that happened during the 2 days. I wish she would’ve gone for pain and suffering or something; they might’ve settled out of court. But after what she went through, I don’t blame her for just wanted to be done. A pot party. Wtf is a pot party. Is that a new thing I’m just too old to recognize or did the cops just whip it outta their a**es to tear your place apart. Awful, just awful. I’m sorry you had to go through that. Raids are really traumatizing; a gun in your face while your home is getting ripped apart, mementos broken, equipment destroyed (maybe even taken as “evidence” that magically disappears) sticks with you. I’m glad you (and your friends, I hope) ended up physically ok. ❤️ I am a completely sober 33yo law-abiding, employed mother with two well-behaved, respectful teenage girls and grew up privileged, and even _I’m_ genuinely afraid of cops and the destruction they leave behind just because they can. I can only imagine how fearful those who are targeted and/or don’t fit a societally acceptable mold are of those bullies.

Oddly I've had the opposite done to me: The cops came to my house, 6 of them, and phoned me to ask where I was. Strangely, I was less than 50 metres from them, as I approached on my my mobility scooter following a short shopping trip. What did they want? To search for "Class A drugs with intent to distribute"! I don't have anything to do with *any* kind of illegal narcotics, and the plod know it. But my partner has an history ... *BUT,* she had been staying at an hotel (safe house) for weeks at that point. They were exceedingly polite as they searched my home. Hardly disturbed anything. Were in and out in less than an hour without damaging anything. Very apologetic. My partner didn't want to believe me until I showed her the search warrant!

I was "taken in for questioning" because I matched the description of a guy who'd been mugging people in my old neighborhood in California. The muggings had been going on for about a month. My ex-wife was a real b*tch because I had started dating again. She accused me of hitting her. There was a fight, but I never touched her. The night of the incident I gave a statement to the cops. A week later we were in front of a judge for Child Services because the kids were in the house. I went to jail then for 40 hours because the judge wouldn't set my bail amount for a day. A year later, because of Covid, I get my trial. Prosecutor offers a year in jail as my plea which my lawyer tells me is the most the judge could hit me with. This would obviously make me lose my job and kids. I say f-it and go to trial. On the stand my ex-wife tells a story. The cop who took our statements tells us she gave a different statement the night of. The judge pauses, asks the ex-wife why the stories are different. Ex says the cop is lying. My lawyer asks for my case to be dismissed and the judge looks at the prosecutor, who shrugs, then bangs the gavel and I was out of there. Still waiting to get my bail money back from the state though

My best friend’s father is a quiet balding black man who is about 50, 5’4, solid but not ripped with no criminal history. A person stole his info and has a maroon colored car like my friend’s dad. This man is a Hispanic, tattooed man in his 20s, around 6’+ and ripped. For about 2 years, Mr. J got pulled over by multiple cop cars then held at gunpoint once every couple months. One time they didn’t actually walk up to the car until an hour after pulling him over, gun in his face even when it was CLEARLY not the man they were looking for. One time he unfortunately had bullet holes in the side of his cars. After seeing that, once again, he wasn’t the Mr. J they were looking for, they decided to interrogate him instead. “Why do you have bullet holes in the side of your car?” implying he was part of/reason for a shooting/shoot-out. “Because I live here,” is all he said. It was all the explanation needed. They moved on and after realizing that although he was quiet, he was _not_ going to let himself be bullied, they let him go to work. He was written up.

This is definitely my time to shine and maybe you guys will like it. I was falsely arrested and spent two weeks in jail for prescription of my own medication that they also gave me while I was in jail 🤣🙃 let me explain: I have mental health issues that have been medicated for for several years. I had recently moved to West New York (Think Niagara Falls area). I found new doctors and got all of my medication‘s updated/ legally prescribed in this state for my continued treatment. I recently became engaged about a month after my arrival to my friends brother. My fiancé wasn’t the brightest bulb in the box. Honestly her was really dumb and a bit of a troublemaker from what I was learning as I literally met him and got engaged like a month later. The only other time I had talked with him was the week I visited for spring break while I was in town but not nothing more. Basically you can tell I don’t know this guy very well (look.. I know lol🙃 I’m not looking like the brightest either right now but hindsight is 20/20 y’all). Anyway my fiancé at the time apparently had stolen some medication from his family friend. A few days later we had been hanging out and I drove him back to his parents house. everyone started accusing both of us of stealing this medication. medication happens to be the exact same medication I am legally prescribed. His mother started screaming at him that she found the pill bottles in his room and because I didn’t have anything to do with this and he wanted to leave I was like look I’m leaving and went back to my apartment with him. I was griping at him on the way back and as soon as I pulled into my apartment the police swarmed my vehicle asking him to step out of the vehicle and he did and I sat there and complied with everything they asked because I knew I hadn’t done anything wrong. they then asked to search my truck which I was OK with they asked me about this Container on my keychain for my medication and I said it didn’t have anything in it but it was for _____ meds. they looked in it and saw nothing. They then proceeded to ask about the medication that Was found on my fiancé as well (which he lied to me and said he didn’t have any left). I said I don’t know anything about it just that I have a legal prescription for this medication and they didn’t care. I said my pill bottles are upstairs I can show them to you that I have legal prescriptions for this and I didn’t have anything to do with this and they still didn’t care they took me to jail when I got to jail they asked me if I was prescribed any medication I told them what I was prescribed. they verified this with the pharmacy and was able to verify I did have a legal prescription for the medication I was in jail for but did not release me. they just gave me the medication as prescribed while I was in jail. For two weeks this goes on until I finally get in front of a judge for them to dismiss all the charges and just charge me with failure to change home address and give me time served and let me go. I still want to sue them.

For those curious about why the irish citizens got treated radically different that is because the police have negative immunity when it comes to international incidents. If you can afford one, get a second citizenship. Your new host nation will go to bat for you. There was an incident of police brutality years back. It made the headlines and the prosecutors, judges, and police unions did nothing about it. Until the person's host nation complained about how he was treated. Suddenly the officer involved was arrested immediately, he was found guilty and jailed. The police paid out a huge undisclosed settlement with the victim. If you have money, Panama loves having that money in their banks and has a very generous citizenship policy.

I went from pro to neutral After two bad Run in with the cops. First time was by a long disown sister of mine framing me for a child endangement (her nephew, she was adopted) SHE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR! Cops were so sure I did it because I was 24 and "fit a profile" (Black, Beard, So automatic child endager. Made worse with my Adhd and Autism. I have NEVER endanger children, I'm practically Tin foil hat protective of kids in my vicinity due to helping my mother in taking care of my younger siblings!) Found innocent. Second time my niece (that same sister, this is BEFORE her disownment later down the road) who has autism and was 7 at the time got hurt in school, school framed her injury as "happening at home" and waited for me to come pick her up as always in the afternoon, claimed something happened with her to keep me there till the officers arrived, they brought me to the station, isolated me for hours trying to get a confession. Used that arrest from before (that I remember the judge a decade ago say would be ERASED) to claim "a pattern" failed because they claimed my mother sold me out! (She was at the station DEMANDING where I was! Discovered afterwards I could have left at anytime! So learned just like in Law and Order! The police will be sneaky if you don't know your rights, thats why they put on the screws hoping I'd turn on my mother or throw myself under the bus which I almost did because my anxiety and the isolation and fear of my mother being affected almost made me sign a BS confession. On August 19th, 2019; at night. I was driving to my skatepark as a routine thing because all my friends were there and I was still active in skating: I like skating as it helps with my weight-loss and kept me in shape. I was feeling myself that night and didnt pay attention to the cop driving behind me and I was having a smoke on my way to the park to go hang and drink with my skating buddies. I pulled to a stoplight, took a right and then I got lit up by the blue guys. I pulled over and was going to put my gun away in my car but the cop got out right away and walked up to me before I could do anything. I lived in a conservative city and since I already had experienced their racism before in the past. I didnt want to get shot since Im mexican. They are really apprehensive towards coloreds. Cop walks up and asks me whats going on and why I got stopped. (I dont know why cops would ever ask "do you know why I stopped you for?" like as if I have the vehicle code violations book memorized by heart.) I said "idk", he told me it was for failing to signal before turning. He asks for info and insurance. He asks me where Im headed and I told him where. He then asks me about contraband and I said no and then refused to answer questions; I wasnt required to answer his questions. He asked to search my car. I said no. I get asked to step out and since that is *required*, I had to step out. He asked me the same thing about drugs and all that noise. Another cop shows up and they both take turns asking me questions and then the cop explains to the other cop whats going and then we wait for K9 officer. I get stuck with cop#2 and the one who stopped me keeps circling around my car to see if he could "find anything suspicous or interesting". K9 officer shows up 15 minutes later and the officer who stopped me discusses with the K9 officer. Both the cop and the K9 circle around my car and give a quick look around. Eventually they agree to use the dog for a sniff test and then I get escorted away from my car. Cop#2 says he has to do a "safety patdown search", I said no and I didnt consent. He said he didnt needed it since its not a "search" according to him and he puts his hands on me to make sure he has a grip on me incase if I run or resist him. I didnt know what to do at that point but I knew if I did anything but comply. I was probably gonna get a baton to face and shoved to the ground. He searches me down **ILLEGALLY** and finds my pistol. I got nervous by the way he grabbed my gun and thought he was gonna *ND* me, he was struggling to get it out of the holster. He said I was resisting and that I was preventing him from grabbing my pistol. But on video and my experience. I knew myself that I never touched the gun or him. But they all jumped on me and was restrained tightly. I was scared that I was gonna get gravely injured as a brown man with a gun. I knew how cops are with coloreds with guns. I didnt want to die. Luckily none of that happened and they fully-pat me down and cuff me. I was read my rights and the cops berated me as to why I have a gun and all the shit I had on me. I told them I was allowed to by my constitutional right and they all insinuated that I might do something criminal and "go to war" on someone or something. Thinking I was gonna shoot someone. I had over 300 rounds in the car as a backup as well, luckily they didnt seize the boxes. They ran the dog and searched my car and found my pipe. Yes, it was used to smoke weed, but so was tobacco and cbd flower. And it wasnt smoked in awhile. So there was no solid proof that it was used to smoke weed. They charged me anyways and put me in jail. My gun was seized. Car towed. and i go to jail to be strippedsearch and had to bendover and cough. I lost my rights for 2 years and all the stress I had to go thru on the case. I lost 2 years of my life. And even more off my life expectancy and health. Put my life on hold for a real long time. They dropped it recently because the prosecutors deemed it was "illegal", evidence was suppressed and case thrown out in one fucking day. I cant wait to go sue them for all the trouble they caused for me.

Since apperently you live in a state that doesn't require firearm disclosure when they announced they were going to pat you down you should have said you have a legally carried firearm. As person who is supporter of law enforcement and who was a police officer in a small town, and have friends who are still officers, take these words of advice to heart. Police and prosecutors have one job putting people away they deemed no fit for their standards of society and depending if they have badge fever they will do that job no matter the cost, so never talk to police without a lawyer, if they show up your house and ask for you to step outside, ask if your being arrested or being detained and if they have a warrant! If they don’t, tell them to come back with one, and they persist say you are not saying anything without a lawyer present, I don’t care if you have nothing to hide and are innocent that few hundred bucks of lawyer fee could keep you from being put in prison for something you didn’t do.

A cop tried to arrest my father for providing alcohol to a minor. I was loading groceries into my uncle's car. My uncle is a deputy who had been injured in the line of duty and couldn't be on his feet for long. The image of my gigantic uncle in a scooter cart thing and massive father in cuffs (both are bodybuilders and dad's 6'8", uncle's 6'7.5") yelling at this fun-sized cop about how absolutely stupid they are for seeing a ten year old putting a case of beer into the trunk of a car with two adults present was priceless. Then the shift commander shows up and joins the yelling party. Eventually the dipshit cop says they saw me drinking something right after putting the beer in the trunk. They weren't wrong, I was drinking something. I was drinking a root beer. In a plastic bottle. The actual beer was in cans.

Without getting HE was why the kid hated cops so much. Another where a guy, as he is walking back to his car, says to the cop "cops like you are why cops get killed." Which was an ironic comment as the cop had already handcuffed the guy, put him in the back of the police car, let him go, accused him of being a wife beater, and lied about the speed the guys wife was driving...... without searching the guy and finding his consealed carry.

I got in a car crash on the freeway going 75mph, it was dark out and I hit a cement barrier because I didn’t see the curve in the road. I was using my NAV to find my way to my destination and it had said my exit was coming up so I was checking to see the number. Anyway, I crashed my car and passed out on impact; I came to and got out of the car for a second very confused as to where I was, I got back into my car because I was dizzy and I passed out again. When I came to the second time, there was a cop pulling me out of my car. Again, I was very confused, he asked me if I was ok and I said, “I think so.” He did a sobriety test on me that I ended up failing, so I went to jail. They made me blow a breathalyzer yeah? I kept blowing a 0.0 so they said I wasn’t blowing hard enough and was being uncooperative. I got out of jail three days later and ended up going to the hospital where they discovered I had a severe concussion. I got arrested and thrown in jail for 3 days because I had a concussion! Like, instead of getting an AID car and having me checked out for injuries, this cop decided to perform sobriety tests on me! I tried to tell them I hadn’t been drinking that night. In fact, I at the time I had been driving to my bfs moms house to meet her for the first time. Smh The charges were dropped by the way, like, firstly, I had the medical papers to prove I had a concussion, but secondly, I had a bruise on my forehead in the shape of the steering wheel from where my head hit it

You'll laugh at this first paragraph: I'm 71(M), my _life partner_ is 39(F). She's been a 'working girl' for many years and regaled me of many things she's done for 'punters'. She's surprised that these tales haven't turned me on when other BF's have become excited. Am I deluded, or what? lately she's accused me of sexual assault, as though I couldn't just ask her to be intimate with me, but haven't. She later refused to give the police the information that they needed to press charges, so I spent a night in a cell (without my clothes for _forensic testing_ ) for nothing. Now she's repeated the same crap, but at a different time and a different way (with an alleged witness, her sister)! All based on me borrowing some of her money (paid into MY bank account) for 2 days. How far it may go I cannot say, as she's currently in hospital with what looks like sepsis. I've had it and nearly died. So has she, but not less than 3 times! I can never admit to something I haven't done, but she's making it hard to not call her a liar, should it ever come to court. Believe what you want; only she and I know what I the truth is. I may update this later from my study or from my prison cell. Keep 'tuned in' to find out which. I would, and may have to, die for her.

I'm going to preface this by saying that _not all cops are bad!_ Technically it wasn't a false arrest (I got Karen'd). I was slowly walking up to an officer, smile on my face, hands full so I was unable to fight or anything. I'm 4' 11" and barely 100lbs. I legit got grabbed and thrown to the ground without a word. I would have gladly done whatever they wanted if they had just said something. Three large cops literally threw me down on hot asphalt in the Arizona summer. They kept saying "stop resisting" while I'm being burned on the ground and strangled by my purse strap. It was such a mess and so unnecessary. My neighbors were freaking out because they know me and couldn't figure out why I was being arrested. Everyone there always comes to me with sick, injured or abandoned kitties. My mom and I care for them until they are ready to be adopted. None of them could understand why I was arrested, especially after seeing me jumped by three cops. It was a a shit show. What none of us can figure out is why Karen has been allowed to stay there after all the crap she's pulled with _everyone_ around her. BTW, fuck you Yardz on Kolb in Tucson Az at 22nd and Kolb. Y'all are running a slum but charging $900 for a one room apartment in one of the cheapest places to live. Yeah, I'm bitter. This shit boils my fucking blood. The justice system is a joke. It's far worse than even this video portrays, on every conceivable level, but hearing stories straight from victims just drives it home. EDIT FOR ADDITION: if ya'll REALLY want get mad/horrified at the USA's justice system/police, look into civil forfeiture. The police can basically press charges against inanimate objects, like cash or cars or houses, for supposedly being related to/used in a crime, and they can just.... take that object as their own. Doesn't have to be a proven crime or anything, and no evidence is needed. They can literally just see you with a wad of cash, doing absolutely nothing, and be like "i think you are going use that for drugs, this cash is mine now", take your cash, and then use that cash to buy themselves liquor. It sent, in addition to her spoofed text an advert of the site used to spoof the number. I was written a citation to appear in court in the county that I lived in. (She lived in a different county.) When my court case came up she didn't show and the case was dismissed with prejudice. She must have done it a second time and then contacted the police in her county of residence. The case hadn't been disposed in her county and an arrest warrant was issued. The arrest warrant was then forwarded to my county of residence and was arrested and held for that county. It took a day or two to get transported to the other county and had snowed pretty good which closed the courts for a few more days. It took a week or so and a weekend to finally see a judge in her county at this point just to have the judges staff call my county and verify that she hadn't originally showed up to the original case and verify it was dismissed and I was cut loose. Before that I was in trouble here and there got 2 duis at 19. Also didn’t like to go to court. On one of those duis I went before the judge and she listed off all kinds of shit like assault on a officer and resisting arrest and dui. I about shit my pants I was only there for dui. Turns out my older cousin was in jail at the same time and they mixed our paperwork up. But got figured out after about an hour. Scary still. One more thing how many of these people are white lol sounds like quite a few of them. Not only black or brown get fucked with.

I was with my little brother we were both at a local mall just walking and buying a few things when were stopped by mall security (if you ask me a rent, a cop that needs to get off his high horse) we were taken to the security office because they think we stole something from Spencer which really pissed me off cuz this was 3 weeks after i had graduated from police academy yeah that was a fun conversation to have with local pd

This is your reminder that the cops deserve no respect and that you should tell them nothing. The medics and the fire department are ok, though.

I got two. Well, the first one is me. And I wasn't technically arrested. I was at my Uncle's shop dropping off our garbage bag for the week (tuesday night drop off, wednesday morning pickup). My uncle doesn't technically live in town, he lives in the next city over; however, he lets us and his daughter who is also in town use his garbage can so we don't have to pay for our own. This has been going on for a few years now. Anyway, one night it was about 11:30 as I'd gotten home late and my mom reminded me it was garbage night. So I took the bag up to the shop and as I was rolling the can to the curb, I see a dark SUV with neon headlights drive by and stop, pull a U-turn, and come into the lot. I'm thinking great, it's some lost tourist or tweaker. Nope; county sheriff. Wants to know what I was doing there. I just say 'taking out the trash'. He repeats it back to me kinda slowly and suspiciously, as if the 20lb bag of cat litter I was carrying was shaped like a human corpse. He runs my ID and I wait patiently in my truck. He comes back and just starts rambling on and on, trying to justify this stop, because he drives by this shop every day and has *never* seen anyone here before (which is bs because my Uncle ran his business out of that shop for 20+ years) and how he thought I was illegally dumping my trash in someone else's can. I explain everything above and he has me call my uncle. Of course, he doesn't answer, so I give the officer my uncle's number and he says "I'm going to call in the morning, you'll hear from me." Never heard from him. Asked my uncle a week later and he said he was still waiting for that phone call. lol The other happened to a close friend of mine. He was hitch hiking back in his early 20's and 30's and was out in Nevada somewhere (I think?). He had gotten a ride from a guy but the guy told him he was going too far out of his way and needed to drop my buddy off. Didn't do it on the off ramp a few hundred feet ahead, no. Just dumped him on the side of the road and took off. So my buddy starts walking to the off ramp and a police officer pulls over and stops him. Tells him that hitch hiking is illegal on the freeway. Great, says my buddy. "I'm not hitch hiking, I'm walking to the off ramp". Cop goes full power trip and arrests my buddy for hitch hiking on the interstate. Takes him in, they throw him in a cell, they rifle through his backpack and take all his money ($300+). He said that night a couple of them came into the cell and beat the ever loving crap out of him. The next day he was taken before a judge, who asked why he was covered in bruises. When he told the judge what happened, he was threatened with perjury and given a fine for hitch hiking. The arresting officer then took him out of town and told him if they ever saw him in that town again, he'd be arrested on the spot and thrown in jail. He's never gone back there and has no desire to see if they're going to uphold their word or not.

Yeah no, sue the police department for both of the crimes they charged you with, and the fact that you were denied a public defender is unconstitutional. So again sue

If they deserve to be there and would harm people otherwise, tough, I'd rather have 'em locked up. Just have money not go there then.
