I definitely think Baz did his best work just picking Austin out of all the better known "big Names" Right there he set this movie up to Succeed in my opinion, Really right there he earned his Money. We all know he's a great director but his casting was Gold.
You can't cast a famous singer or actor who CAN'T sing for a movie like this. Miles Teller is not a singer. And Harry styles already is well known and has his own style. Would Harry give up two years of his life, talk completely different and sing like elvis? No. Baz knew he had to cast a blank slate. Austin had been acting since age 13 do he knows how the magic gets made. But it had to be an actor who had nothing to lose by changing everything about himself for a role. The ones who can do it, usually win big time.
Its so great that Austin playing Elvis opened his eyes and heart to the King. Because of this I feel there will be the young generations really knowing who Elvis was as a musician and a human being. Thank you Austin and thank you Baz!!
He is just such a sweetheart . Fun to watch these old interviews - never tire of them . Would be nice if strikes end so we can see & hear AB out promoting new films . Still annoyed w that Oscar snub - like really all that work for 3 yrs & a perfect Elvis !!!!!
I'm so glad he mentioned the trouble performance, it was amazing!!!! Full energy, magnetism, rage, passion, it was incredible, Austin is beyond talented!!!
1:19 Yes, Austin exhibits the same ability, which he totally learned from embodying (and still doing so in some ways after the fact) Elvis. We keep hearing nothing but sweet things from fans who have met him lately, and he is just the sincerest and most focused. So sweet and a real charmer. I wish I could spend time with AB!
I'm surprised at all the interviews from the last ten years of Austin because of other roles. He looks at the camera and melts the lens. He even said he flirts with the lens.
