Why Bob Loves Linda | Cupid's Couples Series 

Thank you for watching! I wanted to add some info I found out about Bob's mom in a recent episode. Her name was Lily Belcher and she died when Bob was around 11 years old. So this confirmed he was a preteen when his mother died. I just wanted to add that. Hope you enjoyed this video! P.S. I said Lena but I meant Leela. I loved the episode where Bob realized she had a whole life within the community he was unaware of…You could see how much it made him love her all the more ❤

I love the moment where Bob sleeps in the basement to avoid Linda's kicking. And a few nights in when Linda says she wants to come down and visit Bob says yes and gets nervous about "Linda coming over." As if he's a teenage boy again.

Linda is also responsible for the books. Shes the one keeping the lights on and what's necessary ordered. She's smart!! Just a carefree outgoing woman

She was onboard with going on the run that one episode where she thought Bob killed somebody, the cow episode I think. Didn't question it at all, that's a wife right there 😂

The crazy part is that Bob didn’t exactly realize that he acted almost EXACTLY like Big Bob, in terms of pessimism. This is best exemplified in the episode where Big Bob takes the kids to the wharf and Bob nearly has an anxiety attack believing that Big Bob will “ruin” the kids with his bleak outlook on life. It isn’t until Louise calls him out for doing the same thing that Bob realizes.

I really thought I was the only one comforted by this show. Whenever my anxiety starts to get the best of me i put it on. I’ll have it running in the background all the time.

I grew up with the Simpsons and when I started watching this, my gosh was it so refreshing to see Bob and Linda actually being loving and supportive as well as the siblings loving each other as well. It is such an amazingly written show

Bob and Linda are serious couple goals and I love your analysis of why he's drawn to her. Like some media will go "men always marry their mothers" and make a joke out of it (he's henpecked, he wants to be waited on), but this is the first time I've heard of a man going for someone like his mother *because of the type of person his mother was*. A free spirit, supportive, encouraging. And YES to them never cheating or being tempted. The Dr. Yap episode was just a zany scheme and it became clear WHY it was such a bad idea, lol. And yes, on the surface it LOOKS like the usual "zany wacky husband, sensible grumpy wife" trope switched the gender roles, but...not really. Linda runs on pure id and Bob tries to be the only sane man, but Linda can be damn sensible and grounded when she needs to be and Bob has done plenty of zany things! The difference is they get to take turns.

How does everyone not love Linda, she’s literally the best. She’s got some of the best lines. She and Gene are the most quotable characters. She so fun and brings so much energy and silliness. She’s such a good mom too!

Bobs Burgers is like the realization of this quote i once saw about the origional adams family tv show, where a child said that what they loved most about it was not the spooky themes, but that the mommy and daddy characters gomez and morticia genuinely loved one another. I feel like bobs burgers is kind of the modern sucsessor to that niche, only arguably doing it better, because it doesnt rely on the implication of needing to be wealthy eccentrics who have separated themselves from the opressive status quo in order to have parents that dont fight all the time and dont have a begruding tolerance additude to their kids.

Overall, Lina is *EASILY* the best mom in adult animation and I genuinely love her. The only times I don't like Linda are in episodes where she acted like she did in the infamous couch episode. Like I get her wanting to keep the couch for nostalgic purposes but girl, that couch was used and abused! It *HAD* to go!

I grew up with The Simpsons, Family Guy and many real life sircoms, but I never looked at thise vouples and went 'yeah I want that for myself' but with Linda and Bob? Absolutely couple goals right there. And family goals while we are at it. It's also very refreshing to see a 'normal' sibling dynamic as well, they tease each other and fight but at the end they love each other and supoort each others weirdnesses. I really really live this show.

I just want to say thank you for covering BB I love this show I even made my adult son take me to see the movie in theater lol . Not enough creators cover them and it's sad.

Linda was a character I couldn’t stand at that beginning but after all those seasons and a movie. I learned to lover her how she is. Linda had her perks and that’s okay. As for Bob I loved him a lot since day one. He a person u just want to have deep convos with him and he will never judge you.

I did a little bit of math about when Bob’s mom might have died. Ehhem…in the episode where Bob takes the kids to visit her grave he said “she died 33 years ago”. According to Wikipedia, Bob is 46 years old. Which means Bob was Tina’s age when she died. It probably wasn’t even a whole year when the “baby you can chive my car burger” incident happened. His “joke” burgers could have been his way of coping. If that is the case, Big Bob’s lashing out and calling it a “joke burger” is probably because he’s grieving over his wife and we already know he doesn’t handle his emotions well. In the episode where they discuss the tree incident, Big Bob says he was in his early twenties when it happened and he didn’t propose until six years after. He doesn’t say how long he and Lily were together prior to that; possibly they could’ve been high school sweet hearts it could’ve been that long. If that is the case and factoring in how long the engagement lasted and when Bob was born in their marriage it could possibly be a 20+ year relationship that he had just lost. I’m speculating though. This might also explain why Bob is okay with Gene saying things like Bob’s in his way with his Oedipus like relationship with his own mother and possibly why he supports Tina’s creativeness. He was 13 when his mom died. Honestly, it’s probably why he’s such a good dad to all his kids

I liken Bob & Linda to Morticia & Gomez Addams. Both adore and support each other, no questions asked. Granted, they don't have nearly as much sex as the Addams. "How long has it been since we danced?" "Oh darling, hours."

Great video, Bob's Burgers is such a great pick me up show. As you said, they love each other and that is a great counter balance to Peter on Family Guy hating most of his family. Bob's Burgers is the real American goal, a family struggling but they have each other and show that they love each other. Keep up the great work :) , enjoy and be well.

As someone who’s very similar to Bob, I don’t think I’ve ever liked a guy who wasn’t extroverted or friendly to some degree. I think people like us seem to attract these bubbly, extroverted people. And I do like them. They’re something that I realize I need in my life. I’m a Bob that needs a Linda 😅

bob and linda are me and my bestfriend. im bob, and shes definitely linda. she’s impulsive with good intentions and im more calm and stand up for her all the time while also telling her ab herself. But I also admire her chaotic lifestyle and support her while also grounding her.

Linda can be a bit much sometimes, but when compared to every animated TV mum/wife she's the best of the bunch. Never intentionally malicious, everything she does is rooted in love and kindness she just tends to go overboard sometimes. So i don't get the Linda hate. I understand thinking she's a bit much sometimes, but outright hating her i don't get.

Linda is someone I wouldn’t want in my real life. The antics and quirk are little too much for daily life but as a tv personality she’s my favorite of the animated moms by far. Just a good wife being a great mom

I remember the first watch through of the show I was struggling with certain characters. Linda was one of them, due to her trying to force Bob not to have boundaries (with Teddy, Gayle, his father, etc) and plowing over boundaries herself. But the more I watch the show the more I fall in love with each character and wouldn't change anything about them. Initially both Linda and Tina drove me bonkers, now it drives me bonkers how obsessed I am with literally all of them! I don't remember which watch through opened my eyes to their weird awesomeness, but I know this is the family I would want to have/be in. I agree with you on all points. ❤🎉

Bob and Linda reminds me so much of me and my fiancé. We both were each others first partners in high school and have been together for nine years. He is a bit monotone, not that social, likes to cook, hyperfixates in his interests, more skeptical very calm but also creative. Me - can't shut up, social all the time, going on adventures, sings non-stop, never gives up, creative, a lot of energy and ideas. I've also worked as a waitress before, and I was known among the guests and employers to be a good waitress (a lot of energy and very social). There are a lot of similarities to the Linda-Bob dynamic. We are best friends and never keep secrets from each other.

I always wondered if bobs mom died of cancer, BC she died suddenly and constantly wore her hat (maybe her hair was coming out from chemo). It might b a bit of a stretch but it's a possibility

Linda is my hero. I loved the simpsons growing up but marge and homers relationship is so horrible at times, i genuinely think it was partially responsible for me thinking that marriage sounded like a bad thing. Obviously an oversimplification, but the dynamic often did boil down to - as you say - the wife is the shrew, the sensible one who is anti fun and anti hijinks, but also is always overruled (because if nothing fun happened thered be no show) and cant ever leave (because that would break the status quo of an episodic family sitcom). Just the woman always having to be the "straight man" is so boring and miserable. All bobs burgers characters are at least slightly weird or eccentric - bob included - but it just being so clear that linda is down to clown and cause funny situations is a breath of fresh air. Nicw to see a sitcom wife whos existence isnt suspend in constant compromise and low level disappointment.
