everyone makes seeing out of it the end of the world. I have no problem seeing out of mine. Most of these people haven't driven the car more than 30 minutes.
I test drove one and loved the cockpit feel of the interior. The visibility is perfectly fine for track and only requires a little bit more attention on the road. This is coming from someone who owns a WRX, which is known for its wide open visibility.
You didn't mention the details of the biggest difference that the 1LE has (the track handling package)....FE4 performance suspension with specific tuning for the springs, anti-roll bars, and magnetorheological dampers (GM’s Magnetic Ride Control); Brembo six-piston front monoblock calipers and four-piston rear calipers (painted red); aluminum-hat and iron-friction-surface rotors; an electronically controlled limited-slip, 3.73:1 differential; and a track cooling package with engine, transmission, and differential coolers. Also a heads up display, Performance Data Recorder Option, and 5 additional handling modes within Track Mode. With all the other features you spoke about make the 1LE a bargain. It's an awesome car both on and off the track.
Great video! After seeing the ugly front end of the upcoming 2019's I decided to look for a deal on a '16-18. I just purchased a new leftover 2017 2SS for nearly 25% off msrp (paid $36,800 instead of it's $48k sticker). I chose it over the 1LE because of not wanting the manual gearbox. After driving stick for nearly 30 years, the appeal has worn off for a daily driver. I wanted a dream car to generally poot around in for the long term, not track it. I prefer the less constrictive SS seats to the Recaros as well. So... If you want an automatic without Recaros, you end up picking the nicest 2SS you can afford, mine has some fun goodies like mag ride, dual mode, and nav. Got it in the sexy Garnet color with black interior, skipped the sunroof to retain that awesome roof line and it's a homerun. Fast, fun, and great looking!
mmadden123 I’m so happy to hear your search is over! Thanks for the compliment. You found an AWSOME DEAL!!! Great job! I hope you have many smiles per miles!😊👍🏻
I thought I was done driving manual transmissions, and I was for about 12 years. Then I got my 1LE and didn't realize how much I missed a manual transmission. Mine is not a daily driver though. Might be a different story if it was. The 2-3 trips a year I make to Vegas from San Diego are a blast though.
Wore off for me after 1 year - back in 1990 with Eclipse GSX. I bought a used 2017 2SS, with everything you listed, plus sunroof - in Hyper blue... It's a blast to drive. I take the long way to pick up food - 19 miles to pizza shop 3 miles away...
The 1LE is a nice machine but for a daily driver, I'd stick with the standard SS. You would never reach its limits on the streets with a 1LE and you would never really enjoy its full potential. If you plan on tracking the car on a road course then by all means get the 1LE but to use it daily its a waste of a high performance machine.
You'd be surprised! I've pushed at least 9/10ths through a long straight with two hairpin turns here in South FL. naturally, no one else was on this road- and if anyone else asks, I told you this was in Mexico. Anyway, what a capable daily driver (:
My 2018 SS has plenty of visibility. There are crash avoidance indicators, and, the driver always, no matter what car, has to ensure mirrors are set properly. The sleek design of the Camaro should not be changed for drivers whose heads are on "swivels" anyway. The Camaro stands alone and I don't think it should change to replicate - let's say - a Mustang! ...excuse me while I puke
I'm happy with my stock SS convertible, I go back and forth to work and go shopping for soothing shaving creams at target. I got a CAI and exhaust and the car is more than enough for NY police state roads.
Thanks for another great video! 👍I wish Chevy could lose the bow tie on all of their models. Especially in that yellow color. It detracts from the overall design of an otherwise great looking car.
I have the 1SS with the A8, the 1LE is cool if you love to take it to the road course, but everyday straight line performance you’re better off with the 1SS, it’s the fastest out of all the SS models because it’s the lightest, perfect if you’re into drag racing also when you get the 8 speed or next year with the 10 speed, going to be crazy!
Oh God have I! I totally agree with you. I am really trying to figure out what in the hell the designers were thinking! Stay tune for in-depth reviews coming soon!
One of the things I like about the new Mustang is that there are no Ford logos on it. Ditch the bowtie altogether. You know it's a Camaro. Non car people don't care, there too busy looking for a charging port for their dildo, errr Prius.
I'd buy the 1LE...………..but only if I was going to road course the car. Why else would you buy it? It's more expensive and parts are going to cost more. The ride is stiffer and the 1LE is actually slower in acceleration than the SS. At least the 5th Gen 1LE came with 3.73 gears over the SS's 3.42s but there's no difference in the 6th Gens. The SS handles dam nice on the road. The flat black hood on the 1LE gives it the "I replaced the hood after an accident but haven't got it painted yet" look.
I'm thinking bout trading in my base '17 mustang gt for a Camaro 1ss it is better equiped then a base Mustang and the pp mustang. The only problem I have with Camaros is that They are a dime in a dozen more then a S550 mustang on top of that the 1SS depreciates faster then a base S550 GT.
Again I own a 2017 SS Convertible, and NO sports car has great visibility. The Camaro is equal to any other sport coupe. I have a 328ic and it is not easier to see out of than the Camaro. My Fusion Energi and my Jeep JKU have almost no blind spots but I would not expect them too. I think the people that feel the visibility is an issue don't drive sports cars. If you are used to sitting up higher and having large windows wrapped around the car, then sitting low in a sports coupe with three small windows would feel rather shocking.
Nice video. How come you don’t give us good camera shots with you stepped back of a side by side all in one camera shot? It’s very hard to really compare without this. Thanks!
Enjoyed your review... I'm in the market for a 1LE and came to this post from your review of the 2019 changes. Use your influence and get some pix of the 2019 SS1LE... I'm dying to see it. I'll keep watching. :)
Hey man, good stuff. If you can actually attach gopros and have videos with a vehicle driving around, you are gold. Your observations are legit and your comparisons to other cars is what make your channel different from many others. Almost all other channels just blurt out specs without comparing it to other cars which doesn't add value. You are different (in an awesome way) but please have a driving video to add more 'feel.' I know this is harder to do but if you are already doing this, go all the way! cheers
Sid Chavez thank you for the really nice compliments and feedback! This is the direction I am going. Please stay tuned because changes are coming in a great way. Thanks again for watching!😊👍🏻
That's cause people don't know anything about gas engines.old school push rod easy to bill and and cheper than all that duel over head cam junk.still kicking ass in the race would and with the new LT4 out just gose show you chevrolet is better than ford Dodge and yo foreign made cars can't wait til the LT4 makes it in to the Suburban and it's Brothers.yo ford ECO boost is done
I have been considering the 2018 Rauch supercharged Mustang but I definitely like the looks of the Camaro better. Do you have any thoughts on that supercharged Mustang?
Same engine & trans, but a half second quicker 0-60 than a 6MT SS. (3.9 Vs 4.4) I think the 305s and the e-LSD diff come into play... Short-throw shifter probably saves 2 microseconds, too. This brings it into a virtual tie with SS auto.
arsin ist not at all. I just like talking about car showing people cars. I’m not here to sell a car or give every technical aspect. I have a passion and just like to share it. Thank you so much for your input and for watching.
It's all a matter of where you are. If I'm on a camaro6.com forum, NPP, MRC shorthand is OK because posters there know these by order codes. On RU-vid, I spell them out.
Let me explain it to you John. When this was filmed the channel wasn't that old. I didn't have enough cash for some decent recording gear so I was using an iPhone, Gimbal, and one air pod. I discovered an app that would me to use the one air pod as a bluetooth mic. Now that I have worked hard and the channel has crown I have updated all the gear. It's called doing the best with what you have.
So many problems with this. 1. Is that a 1ss or a 2ss? There are big differences between the 1ss and the 2ss. Also, for the 1 and 2 ss you have the option of 6 speed manual and 8 speed auto. 1le is not only a 1ss option but is also only in 6speed manual. With the 1le you don’t get ambient lighting which you may not care about. Did you talk about the magnetic ride on the 1le? That’s a big factor on it also. But you can get magnetic ride on the ss. You can’t see out of any of the windows? Have you been inside one? This review was done outside of the car. I have no problems seeing to the left, right, or behind me and I also have blind spot monitoring for safety.
So basically if this car wasn't featured in the transformers movies you would have no other way to describe it? You have the skills of a 5 year old when it comes to reviewing cars..
Raiti's Rides Agreed. But luckily for them Ford doesn't put a 6.2 32v in the mustang...... Their 5oh already puts out more hp with 1.2 liters less. Luckily for Chevy the Cadillac I mean Camaro chassis is great. Imagine it with a 32v, game changer!
Raiti's Rides I’ve had 4 mustangs, including a 15 GT and 13 Boss 302. I now own the 18 SS/1LE ... kid you not, this engine feels more lively than any of the 32v engines, no kidding! It doesn’t rev as high but I never notice it :)
Chad Clark thank you for your input and feedback. Judging by performance numbers I believe it. How do you compare quality of interior components to your Mustangs from the past?
Much different insights for you Joe compared to Doug DeMuron. I don't see how he has so many subs by pointing out what little switch is so weird on a car but I'm sure he's got some money. I like your tag line.."I'll see you on the next Ride". Yes I do remember the IROC. Chevy was crap with reliability back then.
amill1563 you just made my night with the compliment. I really appreciate that.😊👍🏻. I’m glad you remember those IROC Zs! Were there any American built cars that super reliable in the 80s 😉
My '87 IROC was so bad - and GM's service being seen as a profit center - send me into the arms of Mitsi/DSM for 13 years, then Infiniti for another 15. My '08 G37S ran for 10 years, virtually trouble free.
Shane-Lo you need those for a track day when you are stomping on that brake pedal over and over and over again. It’s about keeping the braking consistency!🏁👍🏻
Nice looking car with an ugly front end. Because of quality issues with every GM product I have ever owned, I will never own another one. I shit canned Chevrolet and got a Mustang GT, and I love it!
Horrendous to see out of??? You must be blind. Came from a 2011 Camaro now have a 17 SS Camaro. I can see fine out the side windows. The only issue is the A pillars but lots of cars have wide A pillars today.
Does a review on a car he doesn't open ....parked waaaay to close together...and doesn't drive either car ..doesn't talk about the driving experience or the suspension upgrades...pretty weak. But hey it's a start😁
I appreciate your feedback! This was an impromptu review at a dealership while it was closed. I like to give a variety of reviews in different formats.
