It's more about our natural hatred of sin as we grow in our faith rather then the ability to stop. Jesus didn't take away sin nature, he took the consequences of that sin nature and that makes us want to flee from it. His grace is insane and hard to grasp but I'm greatful.
I have been struggling with this very issue and I have been praying for the Lord to guide my life and bless me with spiritual peace and then this video shows up! God truly hears us and blesses us. And thank you, I REALLY needed this video.
This is so true and a great reminder that needs to be remembered daily. I used to smoke and I failed to quit for years. One day God delivered me from all my cravings when I gave up trying. You could say I was delivered from smoking by smoking.
If we were sinless, we would not have needed Jesus and the grace of God. No one is perfect, even David who was called "a man after God's heart." Although God is forgiving and longsuffering, he does not condone sin; and His grace is not a license to the acts thereof. But thank God for all that He has done.
The question is "Why can't I stop sinning?" The answer is - Because you're a sinner. You aren't a sinner because you sin, you sin because you're a sinner. It's in our nature, even as Christians. Too many Christians focus on "not sinning" rather than living by faith in God's promises. Every Christian has the Holy Spirit living inside of them. God wants trust. When we live our lives based on God's promises found in His Word, we create a connection. Think of faith like an electrical connection. When we're living by faith in God's Word, the current flows. When we stop living by faith, the connection breaks. When the connection is "live" the Holy Spirit's life in us flowers out of us. The problem with many Christians is they try to overcome sin by will power or "in their own strength" to use a common Christian term. But when we are operating in faith (An action based on a belief and sustained by confidence that God will do what He says) we are pleasing to God. Even if we can stop sinning through will power, Paul says that all OUR righteousness is filthy rags. Paul goes on to say that ANYTHING not of faith is sin. Faith isn't believing in the existence of God. Faith is acting on His promises. For example - Malachi 3:9-12 Bringing the tithe into the storehouse brings God's financial blessing. Tithing is living by faith. Hebrews 12 and 13 tell us to obey our spiritual leaders. That's living by faith . Ephesians 5 tells wives to submit to their husbands. That's living by faith. Faith is practical and more than a mental ascent to a belief. Hope this blesses someone. Jesus is God. He's coming back for us. Be of good cheer fellow believers, you are going to make it. Because of Christ's finished work on the cross and the fact that God is WAY more committed to you than you will ever be to Him while still trapped in this fallen body I want you to know that you are going to make it. Doesn't mean that we lean into sin and we reject the conviction of the Holy Spirit, but God wants trust/faith, not sinless perfection. Focus on what pleases God - faith. Not "not sinning" which is not in our nature. The Holy Spirit will overcome sin in us when we live by faith. God bless.
Lord forgive me for the following sins: Adultery Look and watch bad stuff Bad thoughts Lazy Phone all day Led to sin Excuses Fear Justify my sin I have received the Eucharist but not in a state of grace
I hate it when I sin, ok some may think they’re not big sins but sin is sin and what about those hidden sins, like greed, laziness? Jerry Bridges wrote a brilliant book about hidden sins no one sees like the the Lord. It’s called “Respectable Sins”. Brilliant and has helped me so much.
I agree that we are saved by grace alone through faith alone. Once the seed goes into the soil it will grow and eventually produce fruit. Galatians 5 is a good place to gain understanding. The warning is to not live a life practicing sin. A daily habit of sin will not go well. As I already stated, I believe the gospel. We cannot earn salvation. We cannot change in our own strength. But we need to understand that Jesus came to save us from the power of sin. If we focus only on one side of the coin, we may become legalistic. However, if we flip the coin we may fall into Hyper-Grace where we believe we can remain in our habitual sin. Trying to earn heaven will not get us there. Failing to daily deny our flesh may also have dire consequences.
That's why St. Paul said, "I chastise my body and bring it into subjection doe fear that, after having preached to others, I myself should become a reprobate (1 Cor 9:27)." And exhorted believers "to work out your salvation with fear and trembling (Phil 2:12)."
Thank you. I'm 52 and struggle with sexual sin most of my life. It's really destroyed my christian walk over the years. Everytime God removes the thorn I put in back in. Now I'm coming to the end of my life and reaping what I've sown. What's worse, is I was truly saved when I was 23, now I feel like I'm going to come to the Lord empty handed when I die, all due to my age old sin.
Be encouraged the Lord knows, run to Him. He is full of compassion. Ask a brother or sister in Christ for help, pray for you and above all, keep trusting.
Some people use this as an excuse to continue sinning willfully, like being abusive, cheating, fornicating, gay acts, etc. The bible says we must try to flee sin including sexual immorality and that we can't go to Heaven while being sexually immoral so I hope those watching understand that.
Yes.. otherwise we are hypocrites. We must try our best to obey Jesus. No one will do it perfectly. But if we don’t make an effort to respond to Gods word & how we see the world then we are just as bad as the atheist.
I loved the Lord since I was little , 5 or 6 years old. The blood of Jesus Christ covered me as a child but when I grew to the age of knowing right from wrong (early teen) , the spirit of evil overshadowed my flesh knowing that the puberty hormones were kicking in. That is the law of sin of our flesh. My love for God never diminished but it was put on a back burner be cause of guilt (Adam n eve hiding from God). Continue above...
Here’s a question though- aren’t we to be growing in Christlikeness? How does this manifest itself? I know we should bear good fruit and that’s obvious
Still struggling. There are times that I am on fire to God and then back to temptations and fall. I honestly wanted to stop cause I know deep inside that this is not what God wants. I desire to be what God wants me to be. And failing him like this is not it. Please pray for me!
Most Christians don't know this knowledge of salvation. The more we try to stop sinning, the more we commit sin. Rather one should enjoy the joy of salvation given by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, which motivates us to have love for Him. Out of this love, we do work as fruits of salvation, not as means for salvation.
NO ONE will be sinless until their RESURRECTION. "The DEAD shall be raised INCORRUPTIBLE" - I Corinthians. Until then its "O wretched man that i am. WHO shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord" - Romans 8.
No brother Revalation 2:10 B FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH.GOD CAN REMOVE NAME FROM BOOK OF LIFE.Y GOD CURSED FIG TREE C WHAT LUKE 3:8 N 9 .word of God is given to wash our sinful nature.WORD OF GOD IS D ROAD TO HEAVEN.PLZ B FRUITFUL ITS D PROOF OF FAITH
Humans should constantly strive to sin less, in every aspect of their lives. Sin is wrong deed. Do everything right, as much as you can, all the time, to the end of your biological life. Each day, strive to sin a bit less.
I was researching Romans 7 recently and was shocked to find how many people and pastors believe those verses are not about Pauls struggle with sin as a Christian and that he is referring to his old self before Christ. Like A LOT of people interpret it that way. What are your thoughts? Always seemed clear to me but my mind is open.
Definitely about Paul and his own struggles. Wretched man that I AM .. Paul was speaking in present time as he’s writing that, as an apostle. Any good study Bible says that it’s Paul in the present not him before being a Christian
@@RT-qz5ci it's definitely talking about Paul when he was a Christian. Christians still sin. The point of it is that the bondage of sin is broken. We are no longer comfortable sinning and we can choose to not allow ourselves to be under the captivity of any sin in our life. Takes me to Galatians 5 where walking in the Spirit is the best way to overcome sin.
Jewish understanding and Greek understanding of salvation are two different things. Think of two dixie cups. One cup is the body, and one cup is the soul. To the Greek, the cups are separated One cup follows the other cup. One cup does one thing the other cup does another. Jewish understanding is the two cups are one. One cup on top of the other cup. What the one cup does the other cup reflects it. There was a young boy who loved model airplanes. There was one particular model airplane he wanted but did not have the ability to get it. His loving father purchased the model airplane for him as a gift. The young boy was so excited. He thanked his father, pulled out the directions, and put the model together. Did the young boy earn the model? No Did the young boy work for the model? No Did the young boy work out the model? Yes He followed the directions. Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, God bless.
Praying for the peace that surpasseth all understanding to enter and calm your soul. For you to trust and relax in Christ's eternal love for you, dear one.✝️🕊💜
Lord, please help this individual encounter your endless love and peace. Comfort Him and heal his restless mind. Bring to light all that is to be grateful for. You are seen and loved, friend❤️
Deliberate sin is possible to stop if you love God , his sacrifice should make you examine yourself in your day to day choices, I Choose to put off the things that would hinder the relationship becsuse I know it would grieve God and myself ..
I’ve never once had or felt any joy when I came to the faith. I’m always questioning if I’m truly saved. It’s been ten years on this walk. Too long of a story to type. I just want to know why won’t the Lord answer me? Why haven’t I ever moved from this spot?
Brother I give you this advice and I give it to myself also, trust in the Lord and never lose heart. The problem is we don't trust His promises just like the Israelites in the desert, they had no faith God would bring them to the promised land, also we are people of weak faith ( speaking of myself first). Had we believed Jesus promises that he who believes in Him will have life eternal, that He is always with us, that the truth shall set us free etc we would have been in a different condition. 2 Peter 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. (I wrote these to encourage you brother)
@@jsoaps2 I would add, ask Jesus to fill you with the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 5:18-20 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The degree to which you fall short of knowing, realizing, experiencing and enjoying Father’s perfect love for you (love OF the Father) and the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the fellowship/communion of the Holy Spirit, is the degree you'll struggle with sin. Kick out the law/old covenant or mixture of law and grace OR mixture of old and new covenant "religion" of Christianity and start truly living under the pure and unadulterated grace of God our Savior, which is ours because of shed blood of Jesus Christ, then sin WILL NOT and CANNOT have dominion over you because we are not under law but under truth and grace which came through our Lord Jesus Christ. Finished work of Christ, without any loopholes, has not only forgiven us but made us righteous once and for all (unlike animal sacrifices of old covenant which only forgive and cover up and transferred innocence but could not take away sin and could not transfer righteousness)❤
I wonder more why I’m not free of my addictions while others have been free of theirs the second they got saved. This makes me doubt if I’m even saved or if He even cares about me. I’ve been alone for 4 years now and I’ll be completely alone when my parents pass away so my future looks very dark and lonely.
If you love him you will get saved that’s what he commmada as well We are saved by grace through faith not of works So commandments out side of Salvtion is great if you try to keep it but will not save you or get you to heaven that’s why he died ans rose agin we are under Grace not the law James says if you break one law you break them All
Only those who have been baptized in the spirit have this power. The carnal mind is at emnity with god no matter how many times it goes to church. The big reason more people are not baptized in the spirit because they have been misled through false teachers/pastors. Water baptism is relied upon as a sign of salvation, but water baptism is useless for anything and the early church knew this and eventually abandoned it. Paul said there is only one baptism and that is not water. the spirt filled are given power to become holy people, and eschew evil.
I do not recall seeing a Scripture telling us to abandon water baptism, nor has the church ever abandoned it. Certainly there are some who make both more and less of water baptism than is warranted, just like they do with Spirit baptism.
@@deanfry879 Paul abandoned it, when he realized that it was only for the last of the old testaments plans to bring about repentance that meant something.. it divided the believers fom the religious order of the hypocrits. .he later would say "I am glad I did not baptize any more than 2 of you". He no longer practiced it.
Christian who are born again are righteous. The law is not for Christian but for Jews and Gentiles. 1 Timothy 1:8-10 We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. 9 We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, 10 for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers-and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine
The law permits us to sin, because we work in sin to sustain each other, but in Spirit, in Christ, Faith plays a big role, its not work that gets you food on the table, but faith in the Holy Father. its not the muscle, but the might that abides in you to fulfill all your want. To be in Christ, you deny the ways of your flesh, and abide in the faithfulness in the Spirit, its not about exercising the muscle to grow fruit, but to speak according to the will of the Father, and 3 loaves with feed a thousand. Rocks will quench our thirst and Worry will seize to exist. O yea of little faith, sin is desiring you because you forgot to nail it on the Cross. Feasting on the delicacies of Egypt instead of the Manna
@@deanfry879 The law only limits our sinful nature because God, at first didn't want anything to do with sin. And without him evil prevailed and everything was cursed. After Noah he lighted up things and removed some curses on sinners by getting involved. The law, part of he's involvement, helps limit our sinful nature. But doesn't sanctify you. This is where Jesus our Lord comes in. To make us not only sons of man, but God
@@musisijonathancharles7135 I do not know about God waiting to get involved at the time of Noah, since Enoch was a prophet. The law does not do much to restrain sin if no one enforces it, and it perishes with use (see Colossians 2:20-23). The irony of the law, though it is good, is that it also teaches us how to sin, which is part of why Paul says what he does in Romans 7. "The law was not made for the righteous" (1 Timothy 1:9), which is why I said the law accuses us of our sin. All have sinned, as Paul concludes in Romans 3:23, but the lead up to that conclusion is everyone has committed every sin by thought, if not by action and word. Jesus said the same thing in the Sermon on the Mount. To live by that kind of standard takes far more than law, which you know; it takes a promise from God, which Jesus secured by His death and resurrection to move our sin out of the way.
@@deanfry879Got me on Enoch, though I wanted to put emphasis on God removing the curse from the land from the time of Noah in the flesh perspective. I think from creation, that was a major upgrade of living in grace for the flesh. Remember after every covenant God lifts a few burdens off sinners in the flesh. Enoch walked with God. So he was in Spirit. No one in Spirit in the old testament was confirmed dead. Noah died in the flesh but under a covenant. Meaning in Spiritual sense he was yeilding to the Spirit, because God found a quality of the Spirit in him, Grace, the same he found in moses even when Moses was not walking perfectly with God as Enoch and Elijah did in the flesh. What do I mean by yielding? God wanted to reveal Christ, why he called Israel the firstborn? The first being what he wants from he's creation. And he being faithful knew Israel to be the first, not in flesh, but in he's Spirit in Word, in Christ.
@@deanfry879yes the law made things worse I agree, because practice lawful sin kinda encourages sin than living in the Spirit without sin and exercising faith rather than works alone
Yes, it is simple, but not that easy for it requires will power to overcome the temptations with the help of grace from God. That's why Our Lord said "How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few (Matt 7:14)."
If it was that simple, Jesus wouldn’t have had to suffer and die for our sins!! ‘He who says he is without sin is a liar and the truth is not in him.’ We can fight against sin through the power and conviction of the Holy Spirit but we will never be free of sin this side of heaven
@@tessbooth7439the number of Christians out there who believe they are living sinless since finding salvation is staggering. People don’t realize how high the bar is really set. Jesus said our thoughts can be sin even if we don’t act on them. All of us have sinful thoughts hundreds of times per day.
Every believer does not lament because they can’t stop sinning. Christians can and should live sin free. Where in the Bible does it say that we cannot stop sinning? This is false doctrine! This man is butchering the scriptures.
The Book of Ecclesiastics states that "There is no just man that does good and does not sin". Also, 1 John states that " If a man say he is without sin he is deceived. Although we should strive to mortify the deeds of the flesh, we still fall short.
@johnisrael5022 So you believe we have to sin? Got it. So before we get into the bible let’s go the logical way first. Answer these questions for me? Is God all powerful and all knowing? Is sin more powerful than God?
@johnisrael5022 Oh no brother, I just like to give people an out before I use the Bible, because really if you’re being honest you can use common sense.
