Why can some people crack their neck so easily?

Why do some people’s neck/ back crack more than others?
First, what is the pop or crack? It is when the synovial fluid is pulled apart and separated causing a cavitation (that's the pop sound).
Some people's joints will pop more easily due to the joints being more loose. This allows the joint spaces to pull apart more easily. Other people, who have very stiff joints, like with osteoarthritis, cannot get much movement out of their joints. They usually cannot, or at least have a difficult time cracking their necks.

Thank you Tom. Really appreciate the feedback. I try to bring sound practical explanations to things that are misunderstood.

Thank you! Dr.,you answered why I, " NO LONGER," get the gaseous bubble sound like I once did. 53 years, very athletic yet I cannot achieve the relief. Time for a chiropractor again. I am a Planet Fitness member and simply get zero relief. In my teens, 20's, 30's and 40's, I sounded like a popcorn 🍿 machine. August 2020, my DEXA showed, " Intermediate Osteopenia, " and the new DEXA, April 2023. The inertia of pain

I've always been a pretty crackly person, and found out that joint cracking felt really good when I was about 11, and have been cracking my joints every since - all day, every day. I'm 30 now... I just found more and more joints that I was able to crack and now can probably crack 60% of my joints. Upper back is still difficult for me to get, and I have a lot of tension there as well.

Same. Upper back is difficult for me too, and it frustrates me that I can't crack it again cuz one time, I was washing dishes and I was standing for about 45 mins, and I tried to move my back to lessen the stiffness and one of the joints popped. But sadly I don't even know how to do it anymore

Keep trying my friend. Upper back is the last joints I know how to crack. Found it few years ago, it felt so good. Relax your right arm and shoulder. Use your left hand/finger to push back your right shoulder joint and use left forearm to push the back of your head away from the right shoulder. Do the opposite to your left shoulder with your right hand. While it felt good, now that I'm able to crack most of my joints, joints cracking does very little effect if I have muscle stiffness (especially lower back). I think I agree with what he said in the video: our joints already quite loose so cracking it provide very little additional room for movement.

I took accutane for 3 months and now I can’t move my neck and it cracks all the time. Can this be treated? I saw that hyaluronic acid helps

hmmm. I know that could dehydrate quite a bit. I think some soft tissue work and possibly some adjusting could be valuable. I would give it a try. Coordinated exercises like yoga movements might be good too.

personally I crack my neck all the time, I feel the need to do it when I'm in a fixed position for too long and I feel my neck is getting very stiff. Once I pop it, my neck feels less stiff and a lot more movable 😂

rehab exercises might be a better long term solution.
