With all due respect you are wrong about someone from the orthodox church can't get communion at a Catholic church because they don't recognize Rome as the papal capital, this is political not theologian. The communion between all apostolic churches should be in unity, catholic or orthodox, this division is ancient and should be resolved.

Catholics is following the Bible. Apostle Peter has the authority of Jesus's church. Jesus gave him the keys to heaven and earth. Pope is the successor of Peter. So anyone who denies pope's authority denies the church. There is no salvation outside the catholic church.

Canon Law stipulates that the Orthodox Church, the Polish National Catholic Church, and the Assyrian Church of the East can validly receive the Eucharist in the Catholic Church.
@newstart1983
@newstart1983 3 года назад
It's confusing why they allow even assyrians who are nestorians and oriental orthodoxes who are monophysites like copts and aremenians to receive the communion but not anglicans. I heard that they give it based on if your church believes in the real presence or not, but not according to be in full communion with rome. And if they give it to the independent catholic churches like the polish church, so why not to anglicans who are in the same way kind of schismatic.

Anglicans were soooo close in being in full communion with the Catholic church in the 80's, St. Pope JP2 was ready to do that he even created the "Pastoral Provision" to allow Anglican priests to transition to be a Catholic priest even if they are already married and have families just so they can be united with the 1 Holy Catholic & Apostolic Church.... till the Anglicans started ordaining female priests and every thing changed and all the planning, many discussions were thrown back in the back burner. Many Anglican priests were disappointed & left their congregation because of this, although sone managed to bring some of their parishioners to the Catholic church, it would have been nice if they all returned "HOME".

As a child attended Catholic Schools though Confirmed Anglican/Episcopal in 1955. At Confirmation and I will quote here, it was the 1954 edition of St Augustine Prayer Book. In this book it goes into the Holy Communion as "actual body and blood of Christ " this is not symbolic. The heart knows and Christ knows man's heart if sincere or not. Only those who take communion with sincere repented to sins and asking forgiveness does the real flesh of Christ unites and the receiver receives grace. Also in my book it goes into how to prepare for confession to a priest as well as how to say the Holy Rosary to the Blessed Mother. In short, my book if one read today one would say this was a little Roman Catholic Book - but it is Anglican. I worked as crew for an airline and even in the Vatican I took communion - as I asked for permission - and when the priest learned I was Anglican he said I never need to get permission as all Anglicans believe the body of Christ is real and not symbolic. I'm older today and taking RCIA classes but as I learn history of the Anglican beliefs etc there is truly little difference - the Anglicans more accepting of every human soul and less judgmental - allow Christ to be the judge, not man. Just like parishes vary the same with Anglicans - and too often the priests themselves differ from what they teach within their own Church. Man confuses us, not Christ - so listen to your heart and discernment.

Not a convincing answer. You cannot help but feel Christ himself must be pained by any barrier put up to deny any trinitarian christian his body and blood.

When you receive the Eucharist in the Catholic Church one of the elements is that you are publicly stating that you believe the Catholic Church is the ONE TRUE CHURCH that Christ instituted and no other Church contains the FULL TRUTH and you believe in ALL the Catholic Church Doctrines and Traditions In other words don't waste our/your time just become Catholic already. The exclusion protects the soul not only the protestant but also the person administering it.

@puremercury
@puremercury 2 года назад
@@SaintCharbelMiracleworker It absolutely does not. You literally made no theological argument there. You also are wrong with the "where anything goes" statement, but Roman Catholics usually are ignorant of Protestant theology (especially Eucharistic theology), so we will leave that aside. You need to explain the thought process underpinning the position that receiving the Eucharist (which your very liturgy declared for decades included the Blood "shed for all") necessitates being Roman Catholic. Seems to me that your are equating your particular denomination with Jesus Christ Himself. Also, please remember that your church is not "the Catholic Church."

This makes no sense at all. The Roman Catholic Church recognizes the Orthodox's Eucharist as a valid Eucharist. Which means, that the Roman Catholics believe that the Orthodox are receiving grace and forgiveness in their own Eucharists. This reason is purely political and to me seems as if an older brother likes the middle child but picks on the youngest. Lets grow up people. As for Anglicans and Orthodox. I think it is high time we push together WITH the pope in coming to an understanding. What that means IDK for sure, but His See AT the VERY LEAST is a see of First Amongst Equals, so let us unify AROUND each other with the Holy Father as our Spirtual Father and First Among Equals. just my two cents. Ave Maria

This is part of the reason I left the Roman Catholic faith after being a cradle Catholic all my life. I will tell you this: After attending an Anglican Church I have felt the Holy Spirit there so strong it made me weep! Funny how the Holy Spirit has no problem welcoming Anglicans yet the modern day Pharisees of Rome do not!! Reminds me of when the Pharisees condemned Jesus for eating with tax collectors and Prostitutes. My answer to these Roman Pharisees is the same as Jesus, "Don't be surprised if they (Anglicans) are welcomed into God's Kingdom before you!"

Dear father, I’m a Roman Catholic, I live in London and I have lots of greek-orthodox friends who come to the mass, confess and get the communion. I personally think you’re pushing people away from coming to church with your wrong ideas. The orthodox and catholics are brothers, we can confess and get communion in each one of these churches!! You need to study a bit more my brother and leave your pride away. Peace and love from the only and only Saviour Jesus Christ 🙏

So the answer is - Anglicans are in schism with the Roman church because they specifically do not accept the Roman Pope as head of Christ’s body on earth. In other words - “we ain’t giving you our Eucharist as a sign of communion in the body of Christ until you recognise our Pope as the rightful leader of the church on earth and the associated doctrines”. This reminds me so much of a divorced couple bickering over the silver cutlery 😂 . That divorce happened 487 years ago. It is now time to move on, group hug, and share in the body of Christ.

Is "can't receive" really correct? If an Anglican were to got to a Catholic mass, get on the Communion line and receive the Eucharist, she/he would not be struck down on the spot. Isn't the answer that the Catholic Church does not wish to share the Body and Blood of Christ with anybody who is not in full communion with the Church.

@Christos Kyrios The Holy Father most of the time is speaking of his opinions on matters to audiences, but ex cathedra declarations are binding to the Universal Church. That's a quite a damning statement you'te accusing Pope Francis Even if fellow Catholics have disagreements of how the Holy Father handles situation's, he's still the successor of Peter. The Holy Spirit protects the Catholic Church. The Church Of England ( In all charitably) on the other hand, most members deny transubstantiation, The errors of ordination of woman, and have no valid priestly orders since that little boy, king Edward changed the rite of ordination for priests, although I respect high anglicans. The holder of canturbury died with Queen Mary and that was the last valid Archbishop. Although, I believe Cardinal Nichols is the true holder. God bless

Galatians Chapter 2 11 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision.
@ChipINK100
@ChipINK100 3 года назад
I think the question was actually put incorrectly. Anglicans (myself) and Catholics do not have an identical Eucharistic theology. Although Anglicans believe in the real presence, we do not believe in transubstantiation, nor do we believe in the unbloody sacrifice. Some anglicans like to have ambiguity surrounding the nature of the real presence much like the Lutherans, while most will concretely affirm consubstantiation. So, there is a level of fundamental difference between Anglicans and Catholics. However, to affirm that the Eucharist is a sacrament is starting to become demonized in modern American Christianity. Catholics and Anglicans are being labeled as legalists because we adhere to the biblical institution of the grace and salvific promise of the Lord’s Supper. At least we can agree on the salvation found in the Eucharist!

@@bettef9188 because this ne does, and has for decades, received communion in the RC church. In fact Father Prior and Father sub-Prior both count the Anglican/Church of England as the same church as the Roman church who just need to agree the Pope is the sole head of the church, rather than the Queen. Though I suspect this may only apply to the higher end of the church rather than the happy clappy trying to be protestant end of the church. You can be Catholic or you can be protestant, but not both. And I chose catholicism some forty years ago. Incense notwithstanding (allergies).
