Why Corey Maggette Didn't Reach His Full Potential! Stunted Growth

3 reasons Corey Maggette didn't see his full potential.
When it comes to sports and the athleticism it takes to be elite in sports, we should all hope to be as blessed as today’s feature. Corey Maggette was a natural athlete that may have even be ahead of his time as a do it all 2 way wing that would fit perfectly in today’s game. He had the perfect size for the shooting guard position at 6’6 and was athletic and physical enough to play small forward in any era of basketball. He was ranked in the top 20 in high school, good enough to secure a scholarship from the Duke Blue Devils. He was also good enough to leave school after just one season and enter the NBA as a lottery pick. He left in great time because of investigations into his eligibility, but not so good time for his skills to catch up to him physically. He had a solid career, but with all the potential he had, he could've been better if not for these reasons.

I always wondered Back in the Day why Star players wanted to go only to the Lakers and not the Clippers when they not only play in the same City but same building. Only difference were the jersey colors and team history. Wondered why the lack of playoff success and the stigma of them being "Cursed". Than 2014 happened with Donald Sterling and all my questions were answered. Blake Griffen is way underrated. Yea this is a good 1. I thought he went too late in the draft. Very athletic.

Wow... I swear I was sitting in traffic about 2 hours about thinking about this channel and who I'd like to see a profile/study done on next and Corey Maggette was who I thought of. THEN on top of that .. this video pops up on my screen 2 hours later. Google/RU-vid are scary.

Loved how Kenyon Martin wanted all that smoke. He wasn’t grabbing or pushing, he came up hood swinging.

I remember when I first got into basketball that Christmas in 2004 I got a Lakers Kobe jersey and a Clippers Maggette jersey. I liked them both as individual players but I eventually chose to root fully for the Lakers in 2006 because Kobe was Kobe.

I don't think Corey Maggette is a bust. He deserved to be an All star a couple of his years in the league and was above average for most of his career.

Really underrated player that you always felt could’ve been better. Had All-Star level skills! And you can’t forget that from 2K10 to 2K14 he was a menace to play against 😂

I did NOT know, that Corey Maggette has gotten into a fight! He seems like a nice guy! But, it WAS Kenyon Martin that hit was with, so that says more about Kenyon, than Maggette. I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. I remember how mad we all were, that we gave him away, a lottery pick, for a 34-year old Horace Grant. However, there were reports, that when brought in for workouts, he couldn't hit a 17-footer, and even "shot them all short."

@@Brian00007 With the benefit of Hindsight 20/20 (which I'm the King of), should the Sonics have kept Maggette? We basically gave him away, so that we could dump some "bad contracts" (Billy Owens, Don MacLean). Still, for a potential star player, from DUKE, that was a high price to pay.

The creator of this channel is spot on. I always felt Corey Maggette left Duke too early. I will further state that if Corey Maggette went to another basketball school other than Duke, his basketball game would reach higher levels. If Corey went to a school like Wake Forrest, he would have been a solid starter averaging well over 25 ppg. That would have made arguably the first pick in the draft. I feel that guys with Corey's skill would benefit with two years of college under their belt. But I definitely don't blame these guys leaving early for guaranteed 1st round money.

I watched alot of Maggette's career. He was good enough to make the All-Star team. But injuries were the biggest reason for his Stunted growth.

He lacked the emotional intelligence to play in a team sport. If he was humble he could’ve been a Pippen type or just a tier below.
