Great taste man! Got myself an 04 last spring with 70K in the low $20s but extremely well maintained. It’s an absolute rocket. I feel the LS6 has tons more character and I love how rev happy it is compared to the stock LS1/3 I’ve tried. AutoCross and we’ll see about the track! The gearing is much more aggressive than the base model and works fantastic for autocross. I’m also saving for a GT350! We’re spoilt with the M12 gearing compared to that one, but who cares with 526hp sounding completely unique. Well said regarding depreciation. I almost went with a performance pack ‘18 or ‘19 S550 stang but it would have dropped so much more and it felt like I was disconnected from the road. Still would be an insane daily but I already had one. Voodoo though… my heart too man, it’s not if but when!
Pre covid I was seeing C5 Z06 starting around $14k with high mileage and clean title. Mint condition low mileage examples were around $20k. I remember 2005 C6 base models around $15k with low miles at dealerships. All manuals of course. All of their values have gone up roughly 50% or more since covid and inflation.
Bought my C5Z after years of happily owning a s550 GT as well. While the Mustang was fast and better day-to-day, the C5Z feels like a proper sports car with a raw lightweight analog quality gone from modern options. Only gets better with mods. Enjoy!
I feel like there are a lot of us this way. I love both cars so my s550 is my daily. It's fully loaded with the recaros so it still feels really nice and premium and my c5 is my forged boosted monster that handles like its on rails. Two totally different but great cars.
Lol Good video young man good choice in the ZO6 I say laugh out loud cuz I'm that old man I've had three Corvettes in my life and at the end of this summer I'm going to be looking for 2014 Z06 with low mileage rag top they are fun car to drive enjoy have fun
I got a 1999 frc last year for 14k in feb 2023. The guy was trying to sell it for 16.5k and I talked him down. I may have over paid, but paint/interior was in very great shape. Had 120k. I have since rebuilt the engine for fun, and when I had the engine apart, the bottom end looked fantastic. I am now pushing z06 hp with just a mild cam and headers and the engine broke in great with over 1k miles on it. (dynoed at 365whp) Should I have just gotten a z06? yea, but I learned so much doing all the work myself, and I have the "poor mans" z06 hahaha but uh, I definetly spent some money on the tools. The driving experience in these cars is great and raw. One of the pregvious owners put coilovers on it and it is glued to the road with good tires. Oh and yea, the seats suck ass
Yah I mean building the cars is awesome. Frcs right now are the same price as z06s and it just doesn’t make sense to me. But awesome that you made it your own. Maybe you overpaid idk. But just enjoy her.
Throw an A&A supercharger kit on it and itll be around 600rwhp and you may forget about the GT350. Lol JK Ford actually did a really good job on that car and congrats on the Z. Ive thought about selling mine several times and then I drive and quickly change my mind. Lol
Yah I have had my car for a few months and I think I will sell it. It is a great car but not for me at this time in my life. And the gt350 is my next goal but probably not for a year or two.
I wasn't aware of any recession in used corvette pricing., every price report seems normal. in developing the LS motor, executives were placed on the proving grounds in corvettes, some with overhead cam engines ( mustang location ) some with the same motor and a pushrod drivetrain. they were told to drive the various cars around and pick a winner. they all picked the lower camshaft location, which might explain why the presenter here felt a unique motor drivability characteristic his mustang didn't have. the location of the camshaft keeps more weight down low and allows for a lower hood. My opinion of the car was that it surprised me, I had never owned a car before that was obviously designed only for fun, because it is certainly hard to identify any practical aspects of the car , although I do consider the C5 platform a sweet spot in the evolution of the line. I enjoy a C5 as a grand tourer, it is too luxurious to be sporting equipment, and the steering feel alone would prevent any sane person from calling it a real sports car. for my needs the convertible is the ultimate expression of the C5
I mean if you look at spending and trends we are definitely in one or at the beginning of one. But I’m not an economy channel. So I’ll agree to disagree my man. (Regardless it makes a good title)
Love the C5 Z06s and possibly the most reliable Z powertrain. Would have to see two consecutive quarters with GDP decline to formally be considered a recession. Not there yet with jobs and GDP still showing positive trends.
@@NavsGaragedefinitely at least the beginning of one. In general spending is down everywhere because of stupid high interest rates on all types of loans.
