Watching this in the cinemas was a fever dream. The audience genuinely laughed at the jump scares, and only one person clapped at the end. The people behind me said as soon as the movie ended; “this was the worst movie I’ve ever seen”
Well those people are wrong. There are movies worse than this. Also this movie is a little bit better than the first one (doesn't make it enjoyable though).
@@Ebh55.Those people aren't wrong. Because they said "the worst movie I'VE ever seen". Meaning movies THEY have seen, not you. So it's their opinion based on their own experiences what's the worst. It's just a common opinion
@@Nimbus3690Hereditary is one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen. Not necessarily scary where I'm jumping out from my seat, but just sitting there feeling tense the entire time
@iamjxce329 it was creepy on retrospect for me. It was uncomfortable on first watch, but I had to watch analysis videos to understand it all and then rewatched some parts on RU-vid and got spooked. However, Smile was one terrifying movie. Lame ending though.
one of the biggest take always from one of my drama classes in school was never assuming your audience is stupid. this movie spends its entirety basically saying everyone watching is equivalent to a lobotomized patient.
It’s atrocious, and the most annoying part is that dumbing down media is good for marketing towards the average Joe which, on average is a stupid sheep. The game industry suffers from this so much, every game feels like a handholding game now. The worst thing is when they’re not even dumbing something down, it’s just the creators are dumb
Charlie, you forgot that demons have cooldowns on their ultimate abilities and a stamina system. According to the lore, Pyromania (ultimate) can be used every 60 mins. Stamina system is here so that demon can break human necks only every so often.
Valak had such a brilliant design especially in the scene in one of the conjuring films with the painting when the eyes look alive but while I still enjoyed the nun it definitely took away from some of that initial terror from the character alone.
Charlie’s hate for these trash horror movies is justified. but as one of the people that watch these movies, I can proudly say the only reason i watch them is because they’re fun to watch with family and friends, the unnecessary and random jump scares make it entertaining
Same goes that I also hate trash horror movies like Charlie does. Since I also depise the fake clickbaiting 3AM challenges that disgrace ImJayStation made before he was terminated in March 2021.
Charlie seems like he'd be insufferable to watch anything with Dude spends so much of his time gaming and consuming internet drama that he's awkward as shit, wouldn't be surprised if he's on the spectrum tbh But he has an army of incels that think he's a God so it is what it is
Charlie should have a Moist Horror Movie competition. Everyone gets a month to make their own original horror movie, Matt picks the top ten, and Charlie watch-parties the top ten to pick the best one for a prize
@@camorangerenthusiast6 It shouldn't be, but it becomes political when the people fighting against environmental protections make their money off destructive industries like the oil industry and various other refineries and the international politics it's all tangled up in. And also because the old farts literally just don't believe they fucked the planet.
Nah, the comments make it look worse than it actually is, while the narrative is average at best the movie does a good job with atmosphere and making you feel creeped out which is why most people watch horror movies in the first place.
The comments are just dickriding Charlie’s opinion as always. By no means is it a perfect horror movie but it’s pretty good for what it is. So many people exaggerating tryna be as funny as charlie is all

According to Wikipedia the script was written last October, and the strike didn’t begin until May of this year. With that said, that doesn’t necessarily mean that this script *wasn’t* written by an AI. The writers are striking for a reason after all
The theaters me and some friends were in for the Nun and Annabelle were some of the funniest movie experiences I've ever had. Everyone in those screenings knew exactly what type of movie it was and fully leaned into it.
My best movie experience ever was Machette! A whole room full of strangers, all incredibly exited about insanely over the top action! It was so much fun because of the audience all being so hyped :D
@@jashinsdisciple8512I thought it was weird too, the first Annabelle sucked, but then they made the origin story and it actually kind of was good. Key word kinda.
I thought the part where the old lady encountered her deceased son in the chapel area where he died and the nun used him to kill her exceptionally unsettling. Also found it funny they used a goat man as the lady who played Kate was Susan from the chronicles of narnia.

One of the many things I didn't like about the movie was the repetitivity of the jumpscares. Every SINGLE time it would just be silence, and then jumpscare. Character being alone, looks around, creepy music in backround, creepy music stops for about 6 seconds average, and then BAM!!! And that happens like 45 times in the movie. Every. Single. Time. It was to the point where everytime there was silence, I was like "jumpscare incoming" and then wasn't scared cause I expected it. Also, from what I remember from the movie, the delivery woman/girl who died from the nun was never discovered or mentioned again. Why??? And lastly, it was SO STUPID how the literal devil, satan, lucifer himself, was only there just to scare and chase a couple of kids (for no reason mind you), got STOPPED by a wooden door with the little girls holding it, and was like SO much weaker than the nun, who I think is supposed to be a lower demon. Also, that scene when the nun got the artifact and had that angel/powerful scene, it reminded me of the mandela catalogue. Was that just me?
I had fun watching it with my friends. Even got one little jump when the goat appeared. Altho completely random, the devil not being able to go through a door is crazy to me.
@@The_W_Is_Backit's always the same. 5 bot comments and then someone saying "wtf are these bots". it's almost like YOU are a bot and now i don't know what to believe
The nun was a movie that hurts my soul, the concept is genuinely phenomenal, James Wan was barely involved in the first, it's a movie that had every chance to be incredible, makes me really sad that Wan is so great but decides to barely try
I really liked it got a bit silly at the end but the vintage castle 🏰 and nuns good setting for the movie. I would argue I like the nun more then the rest of the series from conjuring.
Don't diss Wan. It's not his fault execs want to milk the popularity of his universe for all it's worth, it's fully within a director's right to not agree to sequels and he strikes me as a two movies MAX kinda director, he'd rather start something new and I fully get that especially with horror. 80% of horror is better as one film imo
I never knew you were this knowledgeable about good vs bad horror. Makes me happy to hear someone who doesn’t think a cgi face poppin up is masterful horror
I feel like something that could’ve solved the nun not killing the characters while possessing maurice could be that he’s fighting the possession. We’ve already been shown he cares for them and that could be a valid factor in him fighting the possession.
I had to sit through the Nun trailer during Equalizer 3 and I almost had to leave to get some fresh air. You’d have to pay me a lot to watch that shit in its entirety
the nun 2 was scarier than the first one from what i remember, but i was bored most of the time watching it in the theatre. the quality behind the nun (the villain) itself is mesmerizing though
Horror movie idea: A normal scene and a monster is spotted looking directly at them, the second they lock eyes their vision tunnels into the monsters eyes and it fades to waking up. They would remember what just happened but think it was a just a bad dream. Then it happens again and again until they can figure out a way to find it without seeing it, and then kill it. I came up with the idea because ive had a nightmare like that and id want to get the tunneling visuals perfect, i felt completely paralyzed and everything started tunneling towards the monster and i woke up terrified.
"Name one person in the world who thinks The Nun is a good horror movie." Literally my three friends from back in high school. They came back from the cinema positively GLOWING about it being "actually good". I knew then it must be bad.
it’s shocking that charlie hasn’t done a video about the chucky series. season 2 had some of the most creative deaths that i have seen in any horror content.
The scares were actually pretty good and the tension was spooky in some scenes. My main issue is the writing is just so bad that it makes you disengage from it all far too easily.
" Be careful how you live among your unbelieving neighbors. Even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will believe and give honor to God when he comes to judge the world "- 1 Peter 2:12
I found it to be absolutely atrocious and predictable. I rarely spend my time watching jump scare galore movies I find them disappointing. With even watching barely a handful amount of jump scare galore movies I was able to call every single jump scare scene, it was completely predictable and absolutely terrible. To say I hate this movie is an understatement. But of course this is my opinion.
That’s cool if you can get scared of movies with poor plot. For me, a horror movie needs to leave me with existential dread at the end because of the story. Jumpscares and tension aren’t necessarily scary, at least not anymore.
I was struggling to sleep after covid quarantine ended, the nun came out on netflix and i decided to give it a watch while laying in bed and it did the job. this movie took me 2 and a half weeks to finish
@@Maxzes_tbf Horror games in general are scarier than movies because you're forced to be in the protagonist's shoes so whatever happens there is in your control unlike in horror movies where you scream at the main characters for being dumb
The only sane reason, and I'm really grasping at straws here, is that the demon is so confident of it's victory, it's not killing them because it's trying to squeeze a little more fear out of the protagonists. Almost like having a free snack before finishing a shore. Once again I'm grasping at so many straws, turtles are getting nervous
I actually think jumpscares can be genuinely effective as long as it has proper buildup and payoff so the audience doesn’t feel cheated. Two of my favorites of all time are the hospital scene in The Exorcist III and the famous “you’re gonna need a bigger boat” scene in Jaws
I remember watching "The Fragile" as a 13 year old and fucking shat myself. Idk if it holds up now but someone should watch it and let me know if you liked it. Same with "Mirrors" that's a really good film (first one) and also "The Devil" you have to figure out who is the devil on an elevator and it all comes together to make a coherent story. It's pretty suspenseful for a low budget movie that takes place in a fucking elevator. So they are my 3 suggestions. The Fragile, Mirrors and The Devil (I think it's that idk) from memory they're really good and creepy or nowadays itll be good bad. So enjoy those recommendations and let me know what you guys thought! God Bless ❤
not really a horror movie but the jumpscare in Mulholland Drive is one of the best, especially since you know its coming and then bam! it still gets ya. the exorcist 3 is a great one.
They really should've just kept Valak in Conjuring 2 and nothing else other than as an Easter Egg in Anabelle: Creation. The character at that time was one of the good examples of giving an entity a vague origin to instill fear of the unknown. The idea that Valak could manifest itself from a painting of a dream was enough to give it the "Monster under your bed" type of scare factor, but then The Nun gave Valak an unneeded lore as a typical demon summoned from some magic circle during the medieval ages.
Can't believe they finally made a horror movie about Itachi, they even adapted it to the source material and gave the Nun his sickness, Bravo Nunners 👏🏾
@@josephkato6678nah they've got another artifact tied to the Nun's origins as they find out who the demon really is. I guess he's talking about the nun 1
@@justyahz796 no they didn't, but they helped Irene realize she's part of the bloodline and she has similar powers, that's what killed the demon. Does it make sense? Fuck no.
I feel like the nun not attacking the children and simply making them uneasy around her was either to show that the demon had some level of empathy, or whatever the term is, and couldn't bring itself to harm kids, plus the kids had no reason to be in the way and the nun was more focused on getting that artifact it wanted
what I've learned from Charlie is that all the horror ive missed was a blessing in disguise. Now, hindsight can show the blessed ignorance I have lived in.

I perfectly agree, I have been a horror fan for years and recently, no not just recently, ever since I started I've seen these tropes and only SOME films manage to do it. This has been extremely evident in recent years. I am an aspiring horror writer and though I still have a deep love for the genre, people aren't willing to do something different, so Im trying to so we don't have to suffer with this mediocrity anymore.
I was 15 when the first Nun movie came out and I saw it in cinemas. As far as horror movies these days go, it was quite decent and I thought the atmosphere was chilling, with or without the weird plot. I've not seen the second one yet, but I can see why they made it, most people around me who've watched it didn't mind it, or maybe we've just been desensitised by like a decade and a half of subpar horror movies, who knows

Charlie the Nun can only use the fire ability once per day. The reason she used it only at the beginning and end is because she was physically unable to do so until 24 hours had passed.
The answer to Charlie's questions is simple The demon used all of its mana at the beginning of the movie so by the end it can't even execute a simple teleportation spell or any of its other mana consuming abilities. And for why it leads the "heroes" to how they can defeat it, you've already answered this it's indeed humiliation fetish. Also consider that other demons are watching and this is their equivalent to WWE so stuff can get prolonged on purpose for dramatic effects.
Oh my god, how did this movie got a sequel?? I remember going to the cinema to watch the first movie. I was so excited because I love Conjuring 2, I was so interested in the story of this demon, I wanted to know where it came from. But the whole joy was slowly leaving my body throught the movie because it was so ridiculous, it became a comedy and lost it's whole magic 😥
The biggest problem of most horror movies is how the main character never can die so when the demon could easly kill the main character, it just chooses not to do it because of lazy writing.
Yeah....there's alot of times where I'm wondering how this demon's powers actually work. It's stopped by doors and has to use quadripedal locomotion to move around. Why can't it teleport? It's weird, man.
I liked The Nun for being a strong part of the Conjuring series. It didn't need a sequel over any of the other demons in the franchise but here we are with this.
