Why do people do these things? Alright, some of these things are subjective and purely my opinions…What is something that a car person does that you don’t like?

the thing I hate about what people do to their cars is they buy some 17 year old car, spend $4,000 on wheels, $3,000 on a sound system, but they can't service the transmission or change 17 year old radiator hoses, or even change the fuel filter and then a rotted radiator hose blows out 200 miles form home and they are broke and come to me asking to borrow money to get it out of the impound yard and towed to a shop... FIX all the mechanical stuff first, then wheels and sound system...

Up-badging is gross, but anyone who really knows cars will be able to spot a fake from a mile away. So I figure it is just someone who knows nothing about cars doing an add-on, in the same vein as AutoZone fender vents and such. Or some guy who knows he has a shitty base 318 and is jut having a bit of fun trolling the car world and all the people who freak out about it. As far as de-badging, I personally don't care for it, but it can fit the aesthetic of certain builds. But for why, just personal preference, "clean look" as you said. Down-badging, however, is something I've always wanted to do on a sleeper. A tuned F10 M5 with base bumpers, single outlet exhaust, and a 528i badge would be a riot to drive around and drop jaws.

Two reasons for de-badge: 1) if you drive e.g. a Merc C or E class, you may not want everybody to recognise which one you drive, especially if it's one of the upper tiers (at least in here in Switzerland, we don't like to show off). 2) Vandalism, especially by so called environmentaliists, as they target luxury vehicles

De-badging: yes, it does look generic. If you do not want people to know what it is, then buy the vehicle that it isn't. Only other gearheads will know or care what it is anyway, so why do it? Up-badging: yes, this is sillier. If you're going to pretend to drive an AMG, have the decency to remove the "zero" from the "S550" badge, and get the proper tires/wheels and trim if you're going to fool someone. Removing the tire nibs: never heard of it - no comment. Low-mileage vehicles: vehicles are meant to be driven. This is being done largely as a result of owners wishing to preserve the resale value. I thought a 911 GT3 RS was supposed to be on the road just the same as an Accord; it's not meant to be part of someone's investment portfolio. I'm not a fan of vehicles that are museum pieces. Aggressive camber: grotesque and unsafe and wears down tires like nothing else. Negative camber of less than 5 degrees is beneficial - on the track - but when someone's driving around with 30 degrees of negative camber on the streets, it's ridiculous and an accident waiting to happen. Large wheels with stock brakes: lots of moving mass and inertia that demands better braking. Never mind that it also wreaks havoc on the drivetrain. Tacky body kits: these add-ons are cheap and plasticky and offer no aerodynamic benefit (they actually increase your drag coefficient) and most are flimsy and will blow off the vehicle with the slightest wind resistance. Dirty/junky luxury vehicles: this happens, but is usually a second or third-owner issue. It is usually someone who took advantage of depreciation but lack appreciation (and fiduciary compensation). They bought a cheap Mercedes/BMW/Lexus and can not afford its upkeep. Burnouts/showing off: I personally never done any burnouts in my vehicles. Tires are too expensive for that, and I am secure enough in my ego to not need to have the approval of others by performing such antics. You're right: these people are filming because they're wanting to see an accident, so why offer it up and display your lack of driving skills? I rarely turn off my traction control. Only in light traffic or ideal conditions will I think to do so. Again, I'm not a burnout/drifting type of person. Brand loyalty: It's okay to be a Porsche enthusiast or a BMW enthusiast, but why not drive a Kia or a Ford from time to time? That will not hurt your Porsche passion one bit. Multiple parking spaces: parking spaces were designed to contain a SINGLE vehicle for a reason. Parking across multiple spaces is being inconsiderate of others. If you do not want your vehicle dinged, park in the rear spaces or next to a curb. Street takeovers/side shows: these really give the community a bad name. They should come to an end. As much as I dislike government interference in everything, I do not see any other solution to it. Weaving in and out of traffic: I used to do it when I was younger; I saw it as a game and a challenge until I realized I was not saving any time and that no matter how much traffic I clear, there's always more ahead.

I hppe to one day get a gr corolla when I graduate college and get a job that can afford it and I think it might be fun to replace the gr badge with an se badge. Removing the logo however, the brand logo is part of a cars design. Many cars have headlights and lines that are shaped to point towards the logo in the center of the car. I pretty much agree with most of your gripes, but I do have a comment about traction control. Unless it's raining, I almost always hit the VDC button in the Z after starting. Two reasons 1) I once tried to launch hard from a stop to get across traffic. VDC cut power and damn near left me like a sitting duck because it detected wheel spin. 2) Maybe I'm wrong, but the throttle feels less responsive in spirited driving with it on. I do get the general concern though. (see plethora of "Mustangs leaving Cars and Coffee" videos). That said, I have a sports sedan as well and I rarely ever turn its pretty spiffy VDC equivalent off. I can't tell a difference dynamically, and I once scared myself silly going through a corner wonky with it off. It knows better than me, I'll admit it.

I had a similar situation with the traction control in my previous car. Cut power on me as I was entering a highway from the side road because one wheel caught some loose debris. I was already past the debris and on the road when it decided to engage and basically brought me to a standstill in 55mph traffic, fortunately the gap in traffic was big enough that it wasn't a problem but that was terrifying.

Cutting up/ weaving is definitely an acquired skill from persistent understanding of traffic patterns. However, ppl claiming their "cutting up" are ussually just pushing the limit of their skill when dealing with traffic, thinking the closer the squeeze the better the driving. Brother no.
