My god the marketing for this game completely failed it, that and other reviews. No other review even described the game in this way, it actually sounds interesting.
I hope this is the most accurate. This is one of the first reviews I've seen and I'm willing to give it a try based on review. Plus I liked PayDay and if it's remotely similar, I'll be willing to put some time into it.
You are 100% on point with this review. I love this game! It’s just fun to play. Yours is the FIRST positive review I’ve read. And I also feel that it’s a far more complex and in depth game than people understand. I don’t think players get that it’s supposed to be cheesy. That is the humor twist here. And I’m here for the cheese. And you’re right, there’s so much at stake in these missions and it only builds as you go. Keeping your perks is a brilliant approach to counter having to start over when you die. Thanks for a great review. I thought it was just me that enjoyed it so much. 😂
I have seen people talk about this game but I honestly think you are the first one that explained the game in such a way I understand the intrigue I felt watching people play but also you make it sound more fun just from how you explained the risk/reward factors along with the overall random gameplay loop
I laughed so hard when i saw this game annouced. "Theres no way that this will be good" but by the sounds of it i was wrong. This actually sounds pretty cool
So thankful that Lawrence is one of the like, two people ive seen understand what this game is going for. The unapologetic combination of camp and the genuine tension that comes from a difficult heist are incredibe in this game. Its not perfect, there are a handful of bugs here and there, but ive played this game for about 30 hours, and Im really happy to see a few others are able to see what I do
I pre ordered this game and I love it. I think it's so bad it's good, and it is a real hidden gem. It could become a cult classic. It is so unique to have a developer make a game, that is out of the box. It feels like a breath of fresh air. It's not supposed to be taken seriously, it's a game, It's supposed to be fun, and this game achieves all of that and more. I think the people that reviewed this game, missed the point. It's an 80's Tarantino style gangster flick, cheesy, but funny as hell video game. And I mean the strongest selling point has got to be Chuck Norris and Kim Basinger. Who wouldn't want to play a video game with them in it. In fact it's an orgy of top quality movie stars thrown into a video game, and it works so well. I feel very sorry for the Devs, maybe it was just marketed wrong. hopefully people will give it a chance. Driveclub on PS4 was another example of this hate train mentality, review bombs, hating on a game just for the sake of it. Evolution studio were then disbanded by Sony, but years later, most people would agree, Driveclub still remains one of the best racing games ever made. Great video Review by the way, hopefully you will convince more people to play, this great game !!!! Thanks !!!!
I have missed these “deep dive” style videos you all did when part of I.G. I still remember the video talking about symbolism of concrete in the game Control. Nice to see something like that is back and hope to see more of it.
I na freaking shocked how you actually made me want to play this game when other reviewers turned me hella away. Bless you Lawrence. Might really grab at least on sale
Go based on your own opinion then instead of listening to reviewers especially now. People bitch about nearly every game release now so it’s almost always better to go off your own instincts. Letting reviewers dictate your decision is a good way to miss out on a lot of great games.
@@DarkestVoid you’re basically asking me to purchase a game uninformed and hope that I like it. You sound like a gambling man. I am not. I like to know in detail what I’m about to spend my money on. A sensible adult does not make purchases/barters without knowing the product they’re about to purchase. And no discussions on this game talked about these aspects. So I don’t get what you’re saying.
I wanted to come back here and shout out Lawrence. After this video and watching some of his VODs on youtube, I bought the game and played over 20+ hours in the last two days. Amazing!!
"Dollar dragon and the sickos sounds like a weak ass ska band." No wonder he cracked. That line is as funny as it is stupid. Caught me off guard in the second half as well.
I personally really liked the way payday 2 had the same maps for specific jobs but sometimes the vault would move about same as like where you can find keycard's etc
this is my first ever review ive watched of this channel and delighted I did, you totally sold it to me especially with the oldskool references of how we had to be good at the games to get thru them, i grew up in teh 80s/90s and if you werent good then you didnt get to see the end, so explaining how failing on a last level would send me back to the start (as frustrating as that was at the time, it was so rewarding and you felt such a massive sense of achievement when you would do it) completing all stages of outrun used to be a highpoint in teh arcades growing up with people around you watching you do stage 4 and 5 lol, or getting to the top floor on kung fu master (my bro did the kung fu masta one, i always failed on the 3rd or 4th floor) but i did manage outrun and be able to play through street fighter 2 on 20p (1 play) as people stood near the machine or would put their money in to fight you on the 2P anyway this was a great review, thanks very much
less than a minute in and im made aware of allot of things I had no idea about with this game in terms of format/genre. I was still on the fence but 9:43 im like ok take my money this is gold
Thank you, the only serious review of this game. The game is for fun, isn't a simulation real story and the great media and big RU-vidrs criticized EVERYTHING nowadays. For this people not exist even just ONE good game. Thank you for your honest and detailed review. Nice video. Best regards from Brazil 🇧🇷
This is the best review for this game that I have seen, I have watched other reviews where they just mercilessly shit on the game and it just seemed confusing to me and like the person reviewing the game was just bad at it or something. Not that it's perfect or anything but the game seemed silly enough that I would want to give it a shot anyway. Thanks for actually explaining the mechanics better a lot of people didn't even get to the named NPC story missions.
LAWDAWG with the real review. thanks, i had no idea what this was other than the constant shit talking people were doing. Lawrence, why aren't you a full time game reviewer? the world needs the one true gamer's opinions more!
I appreciate that! I kinda fell out of it because I just didn't feel motivated to share my opinions anymore, but I've had a lot of fun doing it again lately so I'll be at it more often. It also makes no money and exposes you to some very angry people, but that's another story. - L
Wish this was on console, games like payday are non existent, and something I desperately crave, especially considering this has a lot of xcom elements. This seems super cool.
This almost looks like a gta-version of the old PS2 game Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown. The board game-style takeover of the map with armies that require upkeep, and heists/robberies to raise that needed cash. Obviously they're still very different, but that's what my mind went to immediately when I saw actual gameplay of it
I didn't know what to think about this game because I thought it was a payday clone. You were able to explain it in a way that I understood and became intrigued and excited to play it. That's why we love you and Inside Gaming 👍🎃👍
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! I'm sat here staring at my PS5, trying to pick between Payday3 which I know I'll love (Loved Payday: The Heist and Payday 2) or this which as you put it, looks "like a cheap Knockoff Payday with celebrities to spice it up"...I'll get both but maybe this one first
bro this shit is fire it reminds me of that old text game drug wars mixed with payday and other rougelike elements, really flew under the radar on people including myself 😂
I really like the Idea of rouge-like heists concept just made me wish it was a secondary mode for Payday 2. They had the bones and the Vo was fun but the gameplay itself was lacking in a major way.
Thanks to the Trial that was available from Sept 7th to 11th I was able to try it out for myself and ngl I absolutely agree with you and everything you said. This game received so much smack, unjustified hate or the negative aspects were blown way out of proportion by other outlets and reviewers. Sure, the game has it's share of problems, it is really unbalanced at times, makes you wonder if it's a copycat or knock-off of Payday but...for the majority of the time spent on it, even when you got so far in and due to the unbalancing you just get wrecked completely you have to start over...you ain't really angry to the point of pc smashing, you actually feel like "Alright...take a deep breath...let's try again!" I think this game is a small...overlooked, unpolished gem. It's all there, if it gets polished just a bit more, it has the potential to be a 9.5/10. Thank you for this review I really enjoyed it and I share your opinion and enthusiasm about it fully. Glad I found your channel. P.S Btw, didn't know the Theory of a Deadman lead singer had a game reviewing channel ;)
The only thing unbalanced about it imo is the bank heist scenario where it starts off loud with all the bags scattered around and you're waiting for the helicopter. That is the hardest level in the game. And the game even has the audacity to sometimes give you a bonus objective of only doing it with a 2 man squad! That's a straight up death trap. I lost a run to it with a 3 or 4 man squad there. Other than that, it's a pretty solid game. Could be harder, on PC anyway. I'm listening to the video man say how brutally difficult it is and I can't agree with it, maybe it's because he's playing with a controller (and reloading Touchdown's machinegun when he's got 120 bullets left in it instead of standing out in the open and going Rambo with it. I intentionally start every playthrough from Level 1 to prevent it from being too easy.
Put Lawrence in the game as DLC. The gaming community is clamoring to watch Lawdog permanently die. Also maybe put Sean Bean in as the only playable character who can't die. 😂
I’m convinced that this is one of the only channels that doesn’t actively shit on every game that releases. It’s almost as if the people reviewing here actually enjoy games for just simply being games instead of whining about minor bugs and because the game runs at 30 FPS instead of anything higher.
What annoyed me about other reviews is that they didn't talk about the games merits as much and just just the game as a punching bag for there viewers one person showed a character mission and said it was too hard while in the video you see them running into the middle of a room full of enemys
Video game pain? I love video game pain, it's a lot better than real life pain. I'm interested in this game now that someone explained to me well but idk, there's a lot of games coming out rapid fire right now.
This is wild, the trailer had me sold on a dumb cheap GTA that I'll play in a year or two. The more you sell it, the better the game looks and the less interest I have. Im not a hard game guy and perma death is my enemy. I'm glad this game is actually for someone but I'm still sad I won't get to laugh at it
I'm glad this game is doing better than I thought it was. I wasn't even aware it released. Really hope the marketing machine can give this game more exposure to show its good side. Epic Store Exclusivity doesn't seem to be doing it any favors.
So Payday has map randomness and a kick ass soundtrack made inhouse since 2013. The only drawback it has is being on a basically acient game engine at this point. And still manages to hit top 40 on steam charts. Apart from that i will give Lawrence credit here for sticking with it longer than many others would. And looks like an entertaining game given the rigth mindset. The vods have certainly been enjoyable.
And Payday 2 was outdated even for the time it was released in lmao. The menus alone make that game absolutely horrendous to bother playing. This game is already much better than Payday 2 but I feel Payday 3 will be a lot better than the garbage that was Payday 2. Also the soundtrack is ass so if you think that EDM garbage is “kick ass” then you’ve never played a game with an actual good soundtrack like Doom.
I think this game is getting bad reviews because reviewers thought this game was something different than it actually is. Which is not a good reason to give a game a bad review. This game is so fun.
Ya can’t take the game to serious, the acting isn’t that great just kinda cheesy and gotta look at it as a spoof of the 90s crime film era. The shootouts are really unfair since you can get easily swarmed and wiped out even with upgrades to health. All in all you gotta try and make fun out of it and try to make the most of it lol
well since youre fantasizing about actors in a sequel i vote for aqwafine or awkwafina or awquafina or however u spell its name and it dies in chapter 1 no matter what lmao
