Amazing video! We have been using straws as bedding and since we changed to sawdust our roosters developed weird symptoms. Rooster 1-Austrolorp: -1.5years old -No gasping for air -Rattly breathing -Comb has Black bits at the back. Sometimes they get darker and Sometimes they go off and on. Added vinegar and honey mix and next day it was all red color but returned back. -Sits down a lot and not much active. -Drinking and eating there -Going on for 2 months. -Big boy. Over 3kgs easily(never scaled him but very buff and well built) Currently we treated with all 0.05ml+water 1.0ml mix deworming. Helped the breathing a bit but hard to say.. Hen 1: -1.5years old -Stopped laying 2 months ago -It has a weird "tail up and down" movement almost looks like she's breathing from rear vent. -Given almost all suppliments but she is still not laying at all and not improved :( Both seem to suffer from a respiratory drama. Can it be related with worms? All poops are normal color with green and white mix. Completely in the open bush A lot of mulch and fungi around as well.
I am having problems trying to house train,my 5mnths old long haired chihuahua, I have been trying with peepads when I first got him, but he turns it over, and then goes to the toilet and covers it up with the peepad,and I am very unwell and he is my only company,and I am having another operation soon, and need him to be house trained perfectly, I have always had rescue dogs, and this is my first puppy so having abit of trouble, and it's hard because I am in so much pain, thankyou for your help and understanding Rachael xo
Hi Rachel, I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I woudl recommend giving crate training a go. Dogs are very good at not wanting to toilet in their close living quarters/in their den. So if put in an enclosed area like a crate, he will try his best to hold it in. Of course a chihuahua pup has the teeniest tiniest of bladders, so wont be able to hold it long. So let him out frequently, of course. The point of the crate is that when you do let him out you can expect him to toilet relatively soon afterward, so take him straight outside, then praise praise praise. When he is inside watch him like an eagle eye, signs that he is about to toilet is sniffing enthusiastically on the ground and in a certain spot, often in circles. Immediately take him out, wait for him to go, then praise praise praise. Never punish for going inside, that leads to them hiding it and creates an anxious dog. Rach, I've never really used puppy pads myself, much. THey seem an unnecessary middle-man to me. IT's just a number game- catch him just before he does it and get him outside for praise, enough times and he'll get it :) Sometimes it means standing outside on the grass with him for what seems like a long time until he goes. But once that little bladder/colon is empty, you can be sure your carpet will be spared :) Remember dogs make an assosication if the praise is giving within 5 seconds of the action, so lots of praise as soon as he's gone. If you find a mess, there'snot point in reacting at all, it will only cause confusion and anxiety. Good luck!
Also remember that there is a reflex between the tummy recieving food and water, and the colon emptying out the back end. So as soon as he's eaten or drunken, expect something... If he has been toileting inside for many months now, it may take a bit longer to break. Prioritise it if you can and try and catch him each and every time. THe more inconsistency, the slower it will be.
I'm pretty sure my hens have gapeworm. All the symptoms are there. I've tried using an all natural remedy. Didn't work. Also, add red pepper flakes to their food; since, the weather is still cool enough. Now, I've treated them with some goat dewormer. They're are still shaking their heads, scratching, sneezing, etc. Don't know what to do anymore.
