What is UP RU-vid! Welcome to Fred's Full Throttle!
As the first handful of Z06's are starting to reach customer hands, there actually isn't any news that can't wait another week to be covered. This combined with the feedback that many of you are a bit fatigued or burnt out about the Z06 at this point, I decided that this week I'm going to branch out a bit into another topic.I want to explore a statement: Why don't all car enthusiasts love motorcycles?
It seems like it would be a natural extension of people's love for cars...but it's not!

Thanks for the change in topics, especially from the Z06. Rode a bike while in college, but too many people tried to kill me on the road so i gave it up. Miss it some days, but still not worth the risk for me. Glad you enjoy them still.

Hi Art! Thanks for reaching out, nice to hear from you! I appreciate the compliments and the feedback. It's always a bit "dicey" to do bike content, because I know it doesn't resonate with everyone, and the views certainly bear this. However, the good news is that I also got a lot of positive comments from yourself and others, and I want to branch out a bit, do more content about "gearhead" related things, mostly cars, but occasionally other things. I don't want to be a "z06 channel" or even just a "corvette channel". I much prefer the freedom to cover a bit more broadly, other things in the gearhead world. It'll always be mostly car focused, but I think branching out is good for everyone, and I'm slowly getting to the point that some people watch the channel for me, more than specifically what topic I'm covering. I know for me, if I like a creator, I enjoy watching pretty much anything they make, even if the subject isn't my exact interest or cup of tea. You don't know how much I appreciate supportive comments like this, it really makes my day! I hear ya on the bikes and safety, and I assure you I stay as far away from others as I can when I ride, and have myself had plenty of scary situations happen. The good part is that by always riding super heads up, with all the gear, and respecting the bike, the road, and others, I've had very few close calls, and hope to keep riding for a long time. Have a great weekend, and thanks for stopping by! -Fred

Fred What a refreshing way to give us a break from the Z06 madness Thanks

Hi Bill, I was really hoping that's how people would see it. When I've made bike videos in the past, they've gone over about as well as a lead balloon. BUT, I am going to try to branch out a bit in the car world more often with my videos, instead of being so Z06 centric all the time. I'll still cover the major stuff, but most "car people" are interested in a wide array of things, so keep an eye out for more fun content like this! I'm not chasing views, so even if these videos don't perform well, I'm going to make the videos that make me happy. What I've found too is that over time, videos that aren't so news/specific car centric tend to do much better in the long run than the Z06 "news of the day". In contrast, the Z06 news videos do great for about a week, then drop off sharply, kind of the inverse. The good news is I don't chase views, I do what interests me, and what I think people will enjoy. I view my work as a mix between entertainment, news, and a "video editorial". Lol, sorry to ramble, but I really really love hearing feedback, and am pleased that what I'm doing resonates for you. :) Have a great weekend, and thanks for the encouragement and kind words! -Fred

Great conversation Fred. I love bikes but sold mine about 10 years ago after 4 lane incursions in an hour near my home. Sold the bike and bought a VS Thing. It's appreciate 300% since I bought it. It's a close second to biking but a #1 for attention. Distracted drivers make it very dangerous to drive in urban areas. The country is way better for sure.

Hi Thereissomecoolstuff! Yikes, that must have been scary. I've had my fair share of scares like that on a bike as well. Oh you got a Thing! Those are awesome. I'm with you, that some of the more interesting or minimalist vehicles out there are very close to the fun of a bike, but with better protection. If/when I hang up my leathers, I definitely plan to get some small little open top roadster (in manual). There's something so great about the open air and cruising around. Have a great weekend, always nice to hear from you! -Fred

I rode a Harley for 20+ years but as you said, we stopped because of the safety risk. And bought a C5 convertible.

My dad hung up his leathers a few years ago after a lifetime of riding (Harleys mostly), for the same reason. No regrets though, and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to ride with him as much as I did. :) Have a great day Sully! -Fred

Thanks Bill! :) It's funny, when I was going through my folders of old pictures to "find a few riding pics", I sorta had forgotten how much I used to ride track before I got the C7. Probably 4-6 events per year, every year for almost a decade. As skilled as I am as a car driver (I'd rate myself as intermediate on track), on a bike it's all muscle memory, and I have much deeper experience to pull from. Was a lot of fun, and I tried not to overdo it or seem like I was boasting about all the experience I have. Was a great trip down memory lane, and the pics are pretty great. Actually makes me look like I know what I'm doing! Have a great day! -Fred

First off, great job! As a rider, I could really identify with everything you touched on. It's strange but when I ride, I prefer bikes. When I drive, I prefer cars. When I'm doing neither, I'm torn between the two... especially as I get older because I value safety and comfort, but still want a thrilling experience. Driving on public roads, I'm not able to get the same thrills in a car that I would on a bike. After a recent trip to Vegas where I drove a C8, GT2 RS, McLaren 570 GT4, and the 488 Challenge Evo, I realized the only way I can get the full experience of a car, is on the track. This has me questioning if I should even buy a C8 Z06. I'm not sure I'd want to track it and risk damaging it because of my lack of experience tracking cars. I'd probably have to start "slow" and learn with my camaro SS 1LE, which I've yet to track. I've been questioning if there's a point in buying such an expensive car if I'm hesitant to track it. With my GSXR 1000, I can hit a windy road and have fun in a way that I can't in a car. The only downside is the lack of safety and comforts that I've come to value with age. I don't ride as often as I once did (kids, life is busy, etc.) but if I sell her, I'll just want another bike. At least with a Z06, I can still get around with a passenger (not something I'd do on my bike). In short, both have their pros and cons, but I love both cars and bikes.

Previous owner here of Yamaha FZR400, Suzuki’s GXSR600 and 750 , main reason I gave up riding as you mentioned was safety plus Florida is not ideal, basically every road here is straight.

Hi Juan! Those are great bikes, but totally agree with your points. The most fun I can think of on a bike is corners and hills. I'm sure at some point I'll hang up the leathers and just stick with cars, but for now I still have that itch. :) I have a new bike coming this week or next, and am excited to try it out next Spring! Have a nice day! -Fred

Most, if not all the guys who I know who like cars, also like bikes. I am about what really looks good, not necessarily what is really fast or performs well. However, most of those cars that I have had, were high performance but I didn't race and infrequently pushed them. Reminds me of a guy I know who owned two original 427 Shelby Cobra comp cars and one S/C that he was afraid to push the pedals to the floor. He drove them to car shows only. I have had many Harleys and own one now but they are not rockets just cool cruisers. I have a 2001 FXDWG2 now that is one the best looking CVO bikes Harley made (my opinion) but it is not a performance bike, just looks good with lot of chrome, great red paint and gold leaf flames...all stock. I hardly ride anymore as I will only go out on Sunday and up to the mountains as LA area is crazy traffic most of the time and people don't see motorcycles or much anything else these days. The Porsche 911 Speedster I had was really pleasant on those same mountain roads with the top down. I think I can enjoy that open air experience as much or more as the motorcycle with more comfort and security.

Hi Terry! Thanks for sharing, and I am with you. I do feel the open top experience in a good car is at parity with riding a bike much of the time, especially since you can close it back up if the weather turns, you get cold, or don't want as much sun. Great approach to get away from LA, and go out on Sundays, I take a similar approach myself to stay away from the masses. Have a nice day! -Fred

I think the only thing you left out is the condition of the roads, especially in the northeast. I love bikes, there really is nothing like them....but there are too many compromises that you have to make. I'd rather spend a few extra hours in the Corvette : )

Hi John, That is a super point, kinda kicking myself that I didn't think of it! Especially hear in new england as you stated! I've seen potholes that would take off the front wheel on a bike (much less a car too!). One other area that I thought about (my wife even mentioned as I was planning out the video), but decided not to mention was stereotypes and groups. I love bikes, I love the enthusiasm and fun, but one thing I can't stand, and dislike with every fiber of my being are people who are super opinionated on bikes (or cars for that matter), and are rude or mean to anyone who doesn't like their (brand, make, model, vibe, etc..). I won't name an example of that here, but you can imagine there are a bunch of different groups in the bike world, and some are very open, while others are incredibly judgy, childish, and awful. I've had enough bad experiences with groups like that that I can easily see how it would turn away new riders or prevent someone from even wanting to be part of motorcycling. It's a big part of why I don't generally associate with many motorcycle groups, because I can't stand the drama and the judging. But I digress.. I will say too that it gets harder to make the compromises to ride the bike, when cars (and Corvettes especially) are just so darn good. :) Have a great weekend and thanks for reaching out! -Fred

When I was 16 an older buddy, (he did some time in Nam) so he was around 21 or 22 told me to get on the back of his bike. Seemed like there was no support or anything to hold on to. He had that bike up to 70 or 80 for my first ride ever. My first ride was my last ride ever!!! NOPE, NOPE NO BIKES IN MY FUTURE OR FOR MY SON!!! Sorry Fred!

Awww...Yeah...It's Fredday Again...ha ha ha! Hey Poppa Fred 👋 Fred, What a great way to turn out some content! I love bikes and sadly sold mine off a few years on my daughter was born. I went from cruising on my Harley for 5-7k miles a year to accumulating maybe 1500 miles over the first 5 years she was born. She became my priority, so I sold/traded my 2010 Street Glide in on my 17 Tacoma TRD Pro...ha ha ha! $12,500 wasn't a bad boost on trade in value along with my Nissan Pathfinder trade in. I like you, started riding dirt bikes around 10 yrs. old and bought my first street bike at 15.5 yrs old. My Honda Magna was a really great bike and over the years I bought/sold/traded many others. My love for Harleys is still there and I often find myself drooling and reminiscing over the bikes whenever I'm stopping at a new dealership collecting another poker chip souvenir. I would love to see some content/mods of your Tacoma TRD Pro too, whenever you're taking a break from Z06 news! Be Well and I hope you and your family enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday! -Shane
