This is what happens 100% of the time. Pious people: **pray a lot** Hardworking people: **working hard to make the world a better place** The world becomes a better place. Pious people: **takes credit** Notice this? Billions of people pray to solve the problem. Then professionals actually work to solve the problem. Then the people who pray says their prayers have been answered.

Faith is the excuse people give when they don't have a good enough reason to believe something.

The best way to figure out what is right and wrong is to stop and consider how you would feel with it being done to you. If you wouldn't want it done to you, it's a safe bet that it is wrong to do it to someone else.

He says that the problem is that people think they know the mind of God, and immediately following saying that, he say something about scripture, which the religious have faith that the fallible human beings who wrote the scripture knew the mind of God in what he wanted. That's the real problem with religion, you first get people who write these things and claimed that God told them or Inspire them to write these things, and then you get people who read these things and believe that they know how to interpret these things, and then they take action which effects other people in the real world. As an Ex-Christian. I came across Mathew 14 in the mid 1970's where Peter supposedly walked on the sea of Galilee briefly. Peter supposedly had 'enough faith' to walk on water. My question to all Christians of this faith, why can't at least Christians do the same, at will? Christians always speak of their power of faith and all the great things they can do in the name of Jesus... Every Christian should be able to create a miracle out of love and need if the NT story is true, right? This was only the tip of the berg. When you get into the bible as a whole, there is a whole lot of holes. Then in 1987, I chose not to believe in the bible as Divinely written and a story made up by the church to control the masses at the time and period. Faith is nothing more than a conscious thought, belief in something other than self. I'm now spiritual. I believe in a Divine source of everything, NDE's, reincarnation and the paranormal, where love and light rules. The bible on the other hand, just a book a stories and misinterpretations from people long, long, long ago.

I'm in my sixties. I've heard people say throughout my life that a small number of bad actors are the ones committing all the crimes. Since seven out of eight people believe in one god or another, who then is committing all the crimes? Certainly not the one out of eight people who reject the idea that gods exist. But there is no way to quantify this claim. Nobody has recorded the religious affiliation of every person who committed a crime throughout the history of humanity. I suspect this small number of bad actors claim is another one of religions grand lies to itself. There are many people who are not only capable, but act upon a variety of circumstances affecting our immediate wants, needs and desires. All human actions and reactions come forth from either a well-intentioned or nefarious character developed from an infinite possible range of experiences which influences psychological health, intimately perceived as their truth. Added to this is a fear of admitting "I don't know" as an answer to most questions about the existence of everything in the universe. Humanity is fractured into factions that span across politics, religion and social cultures. All of which divide us into small groups that disapprove of and even hate each other. Politics, religion, social and the uncountable number of subcultures humanity manifests is the result of psychological miscalculations formulated in our early evolutionary development due to superstitious beliefs long before we began to understand our natural environment through a scientific process carried out through a variety of science disciplines. Even if our only purpose for existing is identified in our struggle for survival against the changing environments of natural ordered systems which perpetually flow through states of development and decline, our lives would be exceedingly more meaningful than to have spent it cowering in belief that a nefarious deity is somehow going to save all the "good" people, when life's experiences and observations show no evidence that religion's purported claims will be the final destination. There are no characters in any version of any religion’s literature who exhibit all-knowing and infallible capabilities. Nature moderates our population growth rate. This is understood by the knowledge that 70% of all fertilized human embryos die of natural causes before reaching or completing the birthing process. In addition, nature is driving us to murder our selves and further moderate our potential population growth. This is because an over abundance of our species would disrupt Earth's natural environmental cycles and life would be short lived if at all. Humanity needs to develop a plan to eradicate religion's nonsensical beliefs, or religion will lead us to extinction.

So many people miss the point of faith, which is closely related to belief. Having either one does nothing by itself, unless it leads to action. Unless it leads to paying attention to the still small voice within, (also known as a Thought Adjuster, a pre-personal spirit fragment of our Divine Father-friend). When we appeal to that inner voice for guidance on how best to pursue truth, beauty and goodness, then that faith is realized. It's true that various religious texts lead their adherents to behave badly towards perceived enemies. And that is evidence of an immature religion, for deity values all life. To make the world a better place, requires a belief in the Brotherhood of Man, which can only exist if one also believes in the Fatherhood of God. When enough of the population embraces that belief, it *will make the world a better place.* But shooting the seeds of divinity in the face before its even had a chance to work, like poo-pooing spirituality, will only accomplish the opposite.

For all these discussions, I find that there is a scarce reference to eastern philosophy in which no reliance on supernatural big brother for human beings to have proper moral values. The East, particularly China has behaved properly within proper reasonable humanistic bounds

My personal favorite science is anceint life on earth. It has been ever since i was young. Even though i wouldn't put myself in the same field as people who studied it for several decades even though i know more than i did as a kid. I wouldn't touch the bible with a ten foot pole these days. The things I've come to learn of the so called "faith" have chilled me with an inexplicable terror these days.

What I mean is one it was not said by god, but the prophet Jeremiah that was angry at Babylon, a city, for imprisoning him and the rest of isreal, so he wanted to do the same thing of what Babylon did to Isreal back to them. What I mean is that God never said to bash a childs head in, so this reason is false. It is like saying if a Christian said "I hope God strikes you down" that means that God wants you dead, which is just insanity. The reason I say this is because if the video used things in the bible out of context, how can you trust the video itself?

I was a new age, religious Christian and was in a branch which I got demonized for issues that I have. I was also mistreated because of my family. I started reading the Bible after being an alcoholic and a massive pot head: after spiraling out. I lost my self worth, my hope, my value in life, my love for people. Everything that defines what it means to have purpose I lost. I never stop praying during this. During suicidal thoughts and actions. Through severe loneliness. I believe in the trinity now, and outside of Jesus's path, I have a nihilistic outlook too everything else. The dead don't remember this life unless they're in hell. Which means all I possess and all the moments down here will go away. Faith is the thing that cuts the rope we noose about our neck.

I totally disagree with this message. Faith is what gives ppl who want to kill themselves the will to live. When someone is sick at home & they go to hospital, the family has faith that, that person will heal & come out of hospital. Without Faith all the families with sick people would just by coffins. Without faith you wouldn't even send them to hospital. What good are the doctors? If you can have faith in doctors why not in God. Even if you don't believe in God, He is the cheapest Psychologist in the world! You can save alot of money!

If the discussion about faith does not beginn with the clear division between Church/dogma and personal spirituality/faith, you can be sure you will only hear a lot of crap. I am not sure if personal faith - i.e. looking for re-ligion, which means "reverse conjunction" with that what transcends us, is capable of making the world a better place, but it certainly can make a better person of a honest seeker. And yes, official dogma of most religions - exactly as official dogma of most non-religious political systems - made world a worse place, but it is not a fault of these nonmaterial ideologies but of their carying out by people.

Atheists answer this, if we evolved from single celled organisms to monkeys to the way we are today as intelligent beings why aren't there any other type of organisms that are hyper intelligent as we are since we're also just animals, we are the only species that gaind all this powerful knowledge
