fortnite story is in shambles bc everytime they do some big reveal they create 10 more questions theyll never answer and 10 more plotholes

Also the fact that the event was made and basically a test for creative 2.0, i really hope epic takes the community feedback and makes the live events like they normally did

Definitely the worst event, but atleast the new Chapter is incredible!

here is my rewrite of the event. A few days before the event, players would receive a video message in their lobby feed. upon opening this video they would see Bytes who would go on to explain the battle plan of the Herald (I think Bytes may have been a double agent considering he was directly opposing the herald in some promotional material. he would say something along the lines of " as soon as they figure out what I'm doing I'm dead, so listen up! The Herald's main target is the reality tree, it shares some kind of Neural connection with the Zero point which will allow the Herald to bring The Nothing to this reality if she takes it over. It is imperative that you don't let her take that tree! Secondly it appears that the Chrome has a hard time attaching itself to any organic material, so if your planning on building defenses, only use wood, DO NOT BUILD USING METAL! That's all I know, good luck!" on the day of the event you would spawn at the reality tree where you would be given a mission briefing by Jonesy who would tell you to defend the reality tree at all costs and that Paradigm has the key to victory, but she needs us to hold off the Herald while she get's it ready. right after the presentation a Chrome tornado would come towards the Reality tree when all of a sudden Bushranger would connect his roots to the reality tree which creates a forcefield around the reality tree that disintegrates any Chrome tornadoes that touch it. From here the Herald would make her appearance and she would use her Chrome platform thingy to walk towards the Reality Tree, bypassing the forcefield. from here the gameplay would take over and you would need to keep shooting the Herald as she continues to walk towards the Reality Tree, but every time you kill her she keeps coming back, except her path is reset and she must repeat her walk. If for whatever reason she somehow makes it to the Reality Tree then, something would blast her back, maybe a bot would use a shockwave or something, I don't know. this cycle would repeat until a certain amount of time has passed which would introduce a new threat as Chrome wolves would begin to climb the reality tree which would force players to shoot them off the sides, and sometime after that some chrome fiends would walk up the reality tree's tunnel, forcing the players to fight them off as well. After a few minutes of the players being overwhelmed (maybe like 6-8 minutes of fighting total) we would then get message from the Paradigm who then tells everyone to get ready, and from there a reality wave would burst from Loot Lake, not changing anything but it would be enough to get everyone's attention (including the Herald). From there a Rift zone would form over Loot lake and it would start to move pieces of debris to form something vaguely. Paradigm would then say "This Island has had a history with Doomsday Devices. Say hello to the one that never went off!" which would be followed by the rift zone completely rebuilding the Collider from Chapter 3 season 2. Jonesy would then throw a rift on the middle of the reality tree and tell everyone to jump in. if you don't jump in then the rift would pull you in anyway. You would then be teleported to the Ice Moon base before being thrown into a cutscene which would show the old agency members fighting back some Chrome enemies as they approach the Collider, before Tntina uses the Mines that originally took out Mecha, to eliminate a large amount of enemies coming for them. we then cut to paradigm standing in front of a control panel as she turns to Midas and Jules, saying something like "Thanks for your help. you should go now!" which would be followed by the agency members present all jumping into the zero point. Paradigm would then arm the Collider before flying to the surface and taking in the view of the island. she would then send a message back to the Loopers, which would go something like "I won't be joining you. I need to ensure this works because we cannot afford for this to fail! you'll have to do this next part yourselves I know you can do this! This war is far from over. If you ever see the Scientist again tell him I knew what I was getting myself into. And Legend, be the hero we all need! Goodbye." before then turning towards the pulsing collider and the collider sets off, enveloping the screen in bright yellow light, which then transitions back to gameplay as everyone gets a firsthand sight of the collider going off, which destroys the entire island. the rest of the event would go pretty much the same as you would need to reforge the island (except this time it would take significantly less time) and a new chapter begins.

I completely agree. The cutscene at the beginning should have been the event. I was expecting us to run around the map with jones, dodging chaos while we try to stop the herald. Maybe we start on the party blimp and we have to fight our way to the sanctum, where we’d fight the herald. I also thought she’d try to chrome the Zero point to try and chrome the rest of the Omni verse. Idk, a lot of missed potential there.

I wanted to make a video that would essentially be a remake of the event with everything we were advertised and had expected (the map fracturing before our eyes, actually getting to fight the herald and perhaps also facing off against chromed versions of the seven (just because I'd find that cool). and having Midas play a part in it all, maybe even having him fight bytes at one point) but I do not come close to having the skills for it unfortunately

The fortnite story was so fun to follow. It sucks to see it thrown to the side like this. Fortnite needs a reboot. And not just gameplay wise, story wise. Fortnite has tried so many times just for nothing to happen. We need another interactive ghost Vs shadow thing. That could save Fortnite’s boring story.

Chapter 2 had the best events and storyline ever.

So it’s probable that Midas used the power of the zero point to power the device, that’s why he went too loot lake, cause he possibly knew about the power source and used it too try and stop the loop

I was so happy to see Farmer Steel. Been wanting him to return to the island, but I didn’t expect to see him in the event 😮. Farmer Steel and Zero are my two favorite characters/skins, and I hope Farmer Steel returns to the CH4 island soon.

Season 2 chapter 3 was honestly one of the best story seasons. Sucks it was basically the only one this year that had that. It was interesting, and was very good to make video's on. Loved ur quests videos. But really seems like even epic doesn't know what to do with it anymore.

i was shocked when i saw they turned chapter 2 season 7 mothership minigame into CHAPTER ENDING LIVE EVENT, i was hoping we would move on from that or that we would go back to moment where loopers where fighting herald then back to reforging island like in doomsday event where we were on island then joneses office and repeat but we were just playing that minigame for 40 mins, epic was literally hyping our fight with herald and didnt deliver it, and THE BEST PART is as long as i know, everything we were reforging for 40 mins didnt even made it to final chapter 4 map lol, i was so sad and dissapointed that such hyped event was such flop

I think epic needs to realize that there are people that play it for the story and not just cause it’s a battle royale

This was my first live event. I was stunned at how bland it was. I went back to look at previous ones and they were so cool, wtf happened?

Also the thing that really made me mad was the fact how they showed 500 chromnados and the map crumbling into the chromnado and an epic scene and we never got to see it

It’s insulting how instead of Epic giving the reality we were in since 2019 a grand finale, it just vanished 2 minutes into the event with barely any build-up.

The analogy of the Watcher was very great. To me the entire event felt like that. We weren't doing anything. At least at the end of chapter 2 we were actually in it. The end of chapter 3 didn't even give us a last time on the island. Wich to me is bizare. But hey I guess it worked out for them. People are talking about Fortnite.

When the event started one of my friends didn’t get the cutscene when the herald was attacking the island he just got a black screen until the cutscene was over and then he found himslef in space

It felt like we were playing a fan made creative game for 40+ mins. Like within 2 mins, herald basically thanos snapped the entire map and loop like it was nothing. I didn’t even see the first 2 mins of the game and I was stuck in the lobby, confused on if the game broke or not but then I was in outspace. IMO I didn’t really like the end event but at least it actually tried lol. Besides that great vid.

It's ironic because the events were amazing until this one, so I'm not sure what it was

I actually like the live event and the looper breaker project I think was supposed to be the reason why we Spond in space because the loop is inside the Island so the looper breaker project was most likely the reason we were in space in the beginning and I think this live event was more of a start over not just for the game but also in the story because the paradigm knows that we could not defeat the Herald and her chrome power so the only way to win is to start over. P.S The Herald is not dead and how do I know that well you have to find the clue on the Island.

The event should’ve had you spawn on the reality tree and while the countdown was running, the chrome should’ve slowly spreaded around the island and when the countdown went to zero we should’ve fought these chrome monsters and then after a couple minutes of fighting the herald chromed everyone like the cutscene and then everything that happened in the event should play out but the quest stuff should be 10 minutes

You know me and my and my friends all thought of what this live event could be and the three different outcomes that we thought could have happened were all much better than what happened

Literally touched the flashback in this event and it black screen my game. Where as you were the Watcher I was sent to the Shadow Realm with only glimpse of sound giving me hope that I might return. I did but, like Thano’s said it cost everything I sat there for 35 min with a black screen 35 min I can’t get back. I only got sent back when the cutscene happened.😞 BTW this did not feel like an event to me felt like a lackluster creative map if this is what creative 2.0 is then I can see why they’ve been delaying it.

Epic tried making the fractured event as interactive as possible but in doing so ruin the cinematic flare that fortnite events used to have

Honestly I get the feeling even epic doesn’t even know what they’re doing with the story anymore as well, I miss it when we would just sit back and watch it unfold in front of us.

This actually happend to me but after I just stood there I got kicked not only that but during the cutscene of the Herald I couldnt see it and was stuck on the island with the TV thingy

I did get a chance to participate in the live event but somewhere in the middle of the event my sound got cut off, this kinda made me upset because since I couldn't hear anything, I could only look at the subtitles, the event was basically a bunch of tasks you needed to do like something straight out of Among Us or something

I think it is just a market play that they did on us, think about it, they let you taste bitter and then gave you the sweetest treat in the world, I don't know, I think D. M. Have the story in his stomach, they have the potential to do better, I wonder if the creative 2.0 comes out, creators, like you, who really enjoy the story will do an even better job to tell the story than they do.

I'm glad I wasn't genuinely hyped for the Event I know a few on my Friends were and they even got kicked and got stuck in places. The cutscenes were the best bit and apart from that it wasn't good. Hope Epic tries to fix the new storyline for Chapter 4, as currently it, isn't the best.

comparing chapter 3s end event and chapter 2s end event is like comparing super mario odyssey (chapter 2) to sonic 06 (chapter 3)

To be honest if they would of had midas or like a mini comback with powers and they would of put diffrent abilities like ch2s4 it would of been fun to hop on diffrent poi’s

As much as I enjoyed the event but yeah I see why some people didn't like it First off we didn't fight the Herald when the while event was teasing this Second we barely did anything Third they teased us leaving the loop but that didn't happen forth jones was completely missing he didn't appear at all and it's weird since Paradigm said one of us has to survive this as if Jones wasn't helping through out the entire story line last Herald barely did anything for someone who killed most of the seven

I died during the event and I was logged out, I had to watch the event through a friend’s share screen

Y’know, instead of the cutscene at the start, we could’ve like fought the herald with a bunch of Easter eggs to other events and stuff. She’d still get blown up and turn into a giant chrome version of herself, but it wouldn’t be in cutscene form. Eventually the Herald would turn everyone to chrome and blow up the island, like in the starting crust scene. The actual gameplay we saw in the event could have been this chapter’s “black hole”.

Wow tbh I didn’t realize how many problems this event had it was bad but I also didn’t have any of these problems dang Fortnite needs to fix there stuff

I wouldn’t called it failed but the cutsence and the whole idea of the us building the map was kinda cool Bc we say how the zero point actually make island even tho people was crashing and getting kicked out it was cool to me

I absolutely agree it would’ve been better if we got to fight back against the herald.

They just don't know how to write a good story. It's easy to set up stuff, for example the concept of people trapped in a loop of a battle royale, that's easy to come up with after making the game first, but they just don't know how to use their concepts. It's kinda sad to watch. Like they have an interesting base concept, interesting ideas of characters (a man who betrayed the people in charge of the loop, the 7 being some cosmic entities who have beef with the IO, etc), interesting visual ideas, and all this other stuff, but they just are terrible at using it. It's literally like having the main idea of an insanely good story, but never using it properly.

I missed the live event, and when I heard the event was terrible, that was laughable but devastating. All the leaks everyone has seen, all the hype w going around, was a lie. I felt bad when people experienced the live event, like it was a waste of time. I wish Epic could have done better, so everyone could have a good time. But in reality, it was trash and I have a feeling later in time, this event is going to be forgettable

Man after that event. Teasing the nothing, midas, the loop breaker project, the last reality. All these exciting things teased and hyping us up only for none of them to show up. Then have chapter 4 be the main highlight of that weekend and not the event. That's a big L from me bro. Then I hear around comment sections that the herald is alive. Just let a n word die. If the herald is alive whoever is writing the story to this point is being clickbaity and money hungry. The herald had her time to shine and it was ruined. Now me personally I don't like the herald at all and will never use the skin.

Let’s be honest. Epic cares about collabs and making more money than the story and actual game. I mean Fortnitemares for example. We got just collabs skins and the halloween stuff was in the shop for like 2 days while the collab stuff was there for like a week or 2. On top of that there was no real effort in Fortnitemares this seasons. Fortnite is one big advertisement for companies and full of cash grabs.

The thing about the event for me at least was the fact that when showing the cutscenes, it would start lagging and after I had painstakingly collected as many orbs as I could, I couldn't even see the 2nd cutscene because my game crashed, so much for trying to react to MrBeast and the Hulk appearing.

WE appear on the floating locations or flying ship and blimp and herald shows up with tornadoes and starts atacking us the underwriter and jonesy would lead us in battle slowy we lose locations and blimp gets destroyed the nothing calls bytes and he atacks and kill the underwriter and then its a tragic death scene jonesy has an epic fight with him and kills him we start getting soruended on the reallity tree THEN happends the thing from the start of actual event and we do rebuild the island like this but its a lot shorter BAM IS IT THAT HARD EPIC? If I make the fracture event it’s going to gonna be 10 times cooler I will make the people understand story i’m gonna keep the balance of story and game the Herald corrupt the zero point with chrome to open a rifts to the last reality like The Chapter 2 finel event maybe a Bossfight like the storm King but it’s the Herald Midas and Jones will show to ade us to destroy the boss fight When the Herald is gone the Nothing have very interesting dialogue we get a cutscene with Midas using his golden touch to turn the chrome into crystal Midas escaped the loop with A seven rocket Jones use the loop breaker project to break us out of the loop and we will witness Island being destroyed by the cube cradle and so the last reality’s rift has been shut now we get the zero fragments to restore the zero point now we get the cut scene The island reforging itself Klarque Clint and the people do you approve my idea

It could have been way better if the actual event was about the herald, nothing, chrome and if it included more stuff into it etc and then during downtime we could fix the island and do the 35 minute part that was actually stupidly part of the event (except it’s not 35 minutes it’s a few hours at least)

I am not mad at you but I mad at people that keep saying it sucks without thinking and saying nobody liked it. It was good but the main problem was, there was no story and the fact that paradigm "died" but nobody reacted that bad cause she's alive in the trailer. Epic did spend alot time on this though. They really thought it was good expect never took into account that maybe we would wanna see more story

I never even got to play it

In my case I crashed during the event Not kicked. Not get stuck. Just crash in the middle of the event. And watch the rest of it from another RU-vidr's point of view (who got kicked out during the event).

they quite litterally did that thing clickbaiters do for there fake live event thumbnails where its just a big version of a character, and hell epic had a honestly better transitioning cutscene ready before ch3 s4 even STARTED

Remember when something is being tease a lot of time, it means is going to be bad because of some doubts by the devs, so they hype the players just to be disappointing when it launches. Also, the new map sucks. Is kinda small for a game that is about tactics. This whole fast pace ruins the tactics of Fortnite.

This was such a rushed event it's really making me sad, for me the game just really died. Yes people were claiming chapter 2 was fortnite death but the game was still active, the story too and still looked like fortnite, if you played it with a passion for the game there was no reason to stop. Personnally i have the worst experience i've ever had with the game. I never uninstalled the game, or even the epic store, but now it's all gone, i feel like i lost a genuine passion. 1st the story. I always knew the story wasn't the main focus or the main focus of the devs knowing that the start of the storyline is just the community being obssessed by a glowing star (meteor) in the sky, which i think really just was a detail that they never thought about. But it hurts me to see it finish like that, because when the game was at its lowest points there was still the story keeping me interested in the game, doing story quests etc. It was never that much developped but it was still complex and worth to follow. There was so much to do to create a good ending, and i'd even say that nothing would have gone bad if they would have delayed the end of chapter 3 to make a good live event. Midas, Jonesy, the Foundation, the Seven, the Imagined Order, the Last Reality, the Cube Queen, so many expected, IMPORTANT and NEEDED characters to finish the story of Fortnite, BECAUSE THEY MADE IT, i feel like they erased everything we knew and the flashbacks were straight up pain to look at all we did, for everything to end like that. No matter our age, we all grew up with this game and now everyhing we knew has been erased. I kinda feel betrayed. 2nd the moneymakers and trend riders that are epic games. The worst is that i know why they sabotaged our game like that. They wanted to "revive" their game so bad and "keep it trendy" like that because of games like MW2 being at the top of the headlines. They don't care about their game being good and enjoyable, they want it to be attractive and a money machine, with overdose of collabs and unnecessary changes. They are egostistical cash grabbers trying to be taking all the headlines every single second of the day no matter if it's for a good or bad reason. They want attraction, with Doom, Mr Beast, Hulk, MHA, that's why they showed them specially. Straight disgusting in my perspective. 3rd the terrible trash can that was that live event. First and for most, IT WAS JUST A CREATIVE MAP for god's sake. As you said it, this was abysmal and putting us in the wrong situation. We litteraly DONT KNOW who the Herald IS. They let us suppose that she was part of the nothing, but at any moment she could be part of the Last Reality, AND WE WOULDNT KNOW. This was the MAIN VILLAIN and her contribution was nothing in this event but just a pretext to change map. The 2 last chapter transitions were special and nice because it was logical with the defeat of the Cube Queen and the masterclass of the map flipping, or at least somehow well written with the rockets of the seven causing the perturbation of the thing they were suppose to protect from the Imagined Order. There was SO MANY OTHER WAYS, to change map with the stage we had in season 4, the Paradigm sending us to a different reality with the teasers of the Donald Mustard twitter locations, but no i guess that was just NOTHING ! Or even just something COMPLETLY NEW, but not with the necessarity of erasing the characters, just a brand new map but the same characters escaping and still surviving with us. It seems for me that Epic are trying to make us believe they're watching the opinions of the community by always making references to the OG fortnite, but are really not interested in it completly. The best would be to either just bring back the whole OG fortnite from A to Z or just do something new (still looking like fortnite tho, gonna explain that later), this inbetween just never worked, it just keep splitting everyone in half. 4th the aftermath and chapter 4 IN MY OPINION. Now, i may be out of placed but, this isn't fortnite anymore, watching the teasers i was thinking about any other other game but fortnite and then going into the game, this feeling didn't disappear. It's really tuff to explain, but it's really a completly new (still with an inbetween pseudo "nostalgia" tho) and BAD game in my opinion. We lsot so many things that made fortnite FORTNITE. This cartoony, simple mechanic, fun, goofy, the GLOBAL ATMOSPHERE. They tried to imply like it's not different by bringing one or 2 elements from the past to look cool but they are not. I feel like chapter 4 is just not Fortnite but just another battle royale trying to keep up the pace with other war games of even games from other genre. These new mechanics, graphics etc are just UNECESSARY, what made Fortnite great in the first place is the fact that it didn't have to be realistic to be the best game in the world. That in an era of developpers pushing realism in every genre, this cartoony goofy ahh game was just the most entertaining and fun, but now they want it and made it to be just like every other game, with unecessary mechanics, graphics upgrades, atmosphere changes, realism pushing... I know a big part is gonna say i'm delusional but i please you and i know that you can at least understand why i'm saying that right now. 5th and additional, my dream event and Chapter 4 (the most painful part lmao). For me the time being that long was a really good idea, and is a part of what kept me interested in that event, so 40 mins still stands. BUT, my dream event would have start with a cinematic showing the creation of the base on the reality tree. And then the entrance of the Herald, we then would have had the oppurtunity to play and shoot her and try to kill her, but with her taking no damage at all. That is when Midas would have appeared, with a base created by his crew, under the ground, Midas and the crew comes out of it, to try to counter the Chrome with gold, but as his battle intesifies, Chrome takes the best even tho Midas doesn't die. The Herald seems destined to win now, as just in addition straight up calls at the sky, as all the loopers watch up (like in those shitty videos trailers we had every damn day), as the sky open like a giant rift, the Cube Queen's big ship show up with the Queen herself heading down and joining the Herald, revealing that SHE was the Nothing, camouflaging her identity to surprise the seven/allies/us during the final battle. Both the Herald and Cube Queen now head to the zero point as they completly decimate the map and POIs one by one. They attack now the zero point and break it. But that's when the Foundation and Jonesy come back with the help of the paradigm. Despite that they are not fighting, but only helping the one and only all mighty Midas giving him the key (you could imagine it as whatever it can possibly be) to make the loop breaker project a success. As now Midas is recreating the Loop Breaker dispositive in a rush, we all face the villains giving our hearts out to avoid Midas getting disturbed and attacked. And at a certain point of time, Midas finally finishes it all and is strating the loop breaking, with the allies like the foundation telling him that he finally had the chance to realize his original plans but Midas realizing the consequence that this would have had if it worked in the past when he first wanted to do it. Now the whole map blows up. We are just sent off to space in the dark, but a light shines away, it's the zero point, as he knew it wouldn't break but defend itself, the foundation lokced himself and his allies in the zero point like in Chap 2 Season 5 and made us survive, the true hero. Unfortunaly and fortunatly, we still lost Midas, lost The Cube Queen and the Herald. And now as the Foudation deploys his last powers alive in him, he helps "reviving" the zero point as he get out of hit, the zero point heals but the foundation dies. Now after the most incredible and emotional scene in all fortnite, the zero point point grows and grows, and just lets explode a whole new reality, map loop, recreating its reality zero and we head to it with the remaining of the "cast". As we land, the map seems familiar, in fact it is the exact copy of the first ever map we had in the game, the characters now understand that the zero point is a loop in itself, that whenever it eventually destroys it heals back and come back to life as the same as it was when it was "born". Now i know " it's unrealistic, thier's no progress in the game, nostalgia merchant blablabla", UNDERSTAND that if this shitty event could break the internet like that, IMAGINE what THIS would have down, they would have been force to have a 48 HOURS DOWNTIME because every single people would want to play. People who missed old fortnite could have experienced it back, and the ones who didn't experienced it in the first place could have discovered the joy of it. The world would be perfect... Come on guys I think it’s time to admit it… Chapter 3 was not successful. I mean sure this is just me guessing, but you can tell they were rushing plot lines and whatnot in order to get out of that chapter. With the season only being 4 seasons, I think it goes to show that Epic wanted to get Chapter 3 done and over with as soon as possible.

it's saying something when everything worked fine for me and I was still tremendously disappointed. Was slowly losing interest in the story due to season 3 and 4. But now I completely pretend like it doesn't exist. Just like epic is doing.

I thing the reason why the event was so bad was because they made it in Creative 2.0 (UEFN) And we're showing its potential if they did that epic will probably reveal it with the launch of UEFN
