So basically I can and should never be able to be a certain character because I wasn’t wasting my life on the game 24/7?

I still believe that collab skins should return and have the option to finish old battlepasses you bought and haven’t finished. That’s just my opinion though

As a person who plays Fortnite, I can confirm no one besides you cares if you’re running a “rare” or “exclusive” skin. Lol you know how many shitty renegade raider that absolutely sucked. It’s a skin guys, some people might want Deadpool or mando that were busy living lives at that time. Epic isn’t gonna protect your feelings at risk of not making money

If fortnite skins have monetary value then yeah exclusive should stay exclusive but they aren't since there are no trading ,and also epic don't want you to buy/sell acounts .. you can't compare an action figure to a digital skin if thag digital skin dont have a monetary value on it .. since action figures such as funko pops can be traded via real money since it is tangible..

I have a much safer idea than cosmetic exchange scams. that ONLY the super styles are exclusive, that they are proof that you were there and the other cosmetics can return, and if there were battle passes that did not exist super styles, that they be added only to those who got them in their respective battle passes battle... problem solved 😕

I disagree a digital skin is way different than an actual psychical collectible. Its unfair to players whose favourite characters are now forever locked just because they didn't happen to play at the time

Played since season 2 here. I'm on the side of letting players be able to get previous skins through other means. Fortnite is in its 5th chapter, there are newer fans coming in thanks to Fortnite OG. Thats on top of previous players who came in at later chapters. This pool of people who miss out on exclusive skins they really want is only going to grow larger. Ya'll can't tell me that you simply don't have that one skin you miss out on and been regretting ever since. I agree with some of your points, but I still think overall it's more beneficial for Fortnite to give newer players a chance to either earn or buy older BP skins than to keep skins exclusive. There are many ways we can bring back older BP skins without shafting older players.

The comparison of a digital good with a physical object is never a good one. That is why NFTs were a mistake. Digital goods, in theory, are always present and can be sold in unlimited quantities. That is not the case for physical goods. That is why a physical collector's item for a video game is fine. But the digital goods are still available for purchase. Trying to artificially insert scarcity in an unlimited thing is a dangerous slippery slope. That is why old video games from 30+ years ago are widely available for an affordable price compared to their physical counterparts. Imagine if the same argument was made about past films, music, art, games... "oh sorry, you just had to be there" makes no sense. There is only one reason why people gatekeep battlepasses, and its to feel special. That is quite sad.

As someone who has been playing Fortnite since the launch I've had my dips of coming in and out of the game. I only came back to the game because of Collabs, with the one that brought me back being Rick from Rick and Morty. I'm not gonna pretend I have a high ground saying, "I HAVE A SKIN YOU CAN'T GET MEANING I'M BETTER!" No, I believe it's stupid that hundreds of not thousands will never get their favorite characters. I will never get Mandalorian, Iron Man, Deadpool, and so many more. But I understand why Epic does this and I'm someone who is stupid enough to buy hundreds of cosmetics. I have a friend who is genuinely disappointed and sad he'll never get Superman but I have him with all his cosmetics. Fortnite is simply a game that in the grand scheme of things will die out probably within 20 years. These are just pixels that look like our favorite characters in a funny shooter game. They shouldn't be locked away forever making it so newcomers or people like me who dipped out may never get them again. But I understand why this happens and it makes complete sense. It's a very tricky subject because people can be overprotective over of all things skins so say Indiana Jones released tomorrow in the item shop those people would freak out and have a tantrum. Though I'd think it's cool that people can get a skin I got early and for much cheaper. I of course want a lot of skins to return so I can get them, including item shop ones like Kratos. But I have my main trio I've always wanted since the game was released. I have DOOM Slayer, Isaac Clark, and Master Chief. I am extremely happy with just those three and honestly and just strolling through the game now just waiting for old stuff to return. But it's really and simple as if you weren't playing then you're out of luck. And let's be honest we all have better things to worry about. I collect Godzilla figures and would gladly sell my Fortnite account to get my most prized items. Fortnite is simply a game that, although people like me spend way too much money on, is fun, addictive, and biggest of all FREE. So don't worry if you didn't get your favorite character or skin. There's not only something else for you but the world will keep on spinning, trust me not getting that one battle pass you so badly wanted won't destroy your life.

The problem here is with your Optimus Prime example and how "it's okay because there are other versions of Optimus Prime," yeah, because those are new stories being told with new iterations. We are in Chapter 5 and this is a story about *the original Peely.* Fortnite also is a constantly evolving platform, and one where it's advertising itself as this open metaverse where you can be anything and anyone but you simply can't. As Fortnite evolves it gets older, and there is becoming a point where kids are literally being denied stuff like the aforementioned Peely simply because they weren't born yet. Having exclusivity does nothing but actively encourages people to break your TOS, and has negatively affected the impact of people's lives, such as iTalk.

My guy there are literally people who were too young to get some of those skins. To say “they’ll make a different version later” is flawed. What other version of Vader could we get? Spider-Man too, yeah there’s 1,000 versions of spidey but everyone loves the classic spidey.

It’s not like if they rereleased battle pass skins would destroy every incentive to get the battle pass since you are getting the collab skin you want and much more for less than the skin would cost individually, while rereleasing said skins at normal prices would generate profit for a higher price than the battle pass while in the current system Darth Vader can make no money because he just never will be sold

The one thing I hate about Fortnite is how they bring cosmetics back in the item shop, that you could only get for free by doing quest, but not the cosmetics that I want wich are the U.A Cape and the Maximize Emoticon. They should add a trading system where you can trade anything.

In the chapter 1 season 8 battle pass I got to tier 91 and couldn’t finish it, I think epic should give us the option to buy a pack or something that’s like 2,000 vbucks where you can finish old battle passes you purchased🤷

I have every bp collab and i see no issue bringing them back to the shop. Its honestly so weird to see the rick and morty collab coming back every week without one of the main characters from the title. Or per example not being able to get the most popular characters of the xmen or the avengers...

I think it could be cool if epic added a system that allowed you to alternate between different battle passes that you’ve bought in the past and grind them out or buy tiers but also still not allow people to buy previous seasons or specific cosmetics from them, still maintaining a level of exclusivity.

I respectfully disagree when talking about collabs in the battle pass. Theres no telling if deadpool will ever make a return in some way, also not for many other collabs. To me the argument that it's for Fortnites own good is inherently false. Because what if some new player just loves Raven from teen titans so much that they wanna buy their favourite character. Well, too bad? Just release those collab skins 2 years after the battle pass for those skins has ended. Obviously for some higher price. This way both parties profit since this would increase revenue and keep player retention. Something i also dont get is you thinking that making battle pass skins available later gives the battle pass no meaning. Wich is also false in my opinion. If a skin for example like Storm (marvel) would come out today in a battle pass. The only way you could get it later is after 2 years of that battle pass ending. And it would obviously be a higher pricr for those cosmetics. I think many fans of those characters wouldn't wait 2 years to purchase a bad deal in comparison lol. I'm not even salty as i have every battle pass since chapter 1 season 3 and completed them all. But i think people trying to keep collab skins Exclusive from battle passes are inherently hurting the game's potential.

I think it's less about people complaining about FOMO tactics, and more about people complaining that a game advertised as a "metaverse" should have these crossover characters available for new players. Imagine if a game like Super Smash Bros Ultimate only let you unlock a crossover character for a limited time. It wouldn't be much fun since the crossovers are part of the fun of the game. Epic definitely uses crossovers in battle passes to bait people into playing longer, which is usually why they're locked behind a secret skin or a high tier. However, even with this in mind, there should absolutely still be ways for players to obtain the skin after the fact, without Epic guaranteeing that the skin will be available to keep their bait tactics for player retention.

As soon as I watched the video, I went and checked on how many players are on now and it showed 3.6 mil. And 5 mil 24 hrs high. Hopefully, players come to realise that Fortnite is not about what the sweats think or do, but it is about enjoying every update, every change and every new skin and weapon. Where was I going with this??? Nevermind. Just enjoy the game!

Whenever they have skins in battlepasses that are huge deals they almost always make a item shop alternative. Darth Vader was battlepass, Anakin is shop. Carnage is BP, venom is shop. Rick is BP, morty is shop. I could go on.

I played Fortnite to get Superman because he is my favorite character of all time, I made it it just in time BUT the menu was way to complicated for me to even know what I’m supposed to do. I didn’t get Superman because I didn’t get its complexity, till this day I’m still confused about all the modes and why ranked players seem to be gods.

Really weak argument, Your comparing physical items to digital ones, they can run out of materials to make products whether it be low supplies or the prospect of little returns, it's not like a digital item where they could literally copy the item an infinite amount of times with no consequences, and you bring up the mc-rib as if people are ok with it, like idk who agrees that it should be seasonal, it's just people literally can do nothing about it. Also the point of an exclusives sale on a product that's limited is again not scummy because the item is ACTUALLY limited and the only way it wouldn't be is if they could literally copy it infinitely, like a digital product.

Maybe a good trading system would work? I mean.. i have Optimus prime, Gerald, Eren jager etc.. and original Fortnite characters collecting big piles of dust in my locker since i never use them.. even if they would dissapear from my locker i would not even notice probably. Wile there are players out there that wished they had these skins because they missed out on them for some reason. Me personally missed out on Dusk and her Glider that i really wished i had and i would use her a lot. Wile other players that do have her don't give a single crap about her set. So i would trade the sets that i never use for her set. And yes, it should be a system that needs to work really well in a fair way so that players can't rip you off in any way. but i think that would work. I personally don't gatekeep pixels.. if it was up to me players would have the chance to get their favorite characters (collab or original) in the game but i also know that a lot of people don't agree with that

For the record, I have every single battle pass and crew collab skin ever released, so I’m not one of those people whining online about missing out on pixels. I think you make solid points, and I would agree with you if Epic actually released different versions of characters in the shop. Now, don’t get me wrong, I know they have done this before, but it’s only happened 4 times over the years by my count (5 if you count Anakin as Vader). So yes it is true that theoretically if you wait long enough these characters will return in another form, but if you had told someone who missed out on Deadpool back in 2020 they could just wait and he would return as a new item shop variant, they’d have waited all this time and he still isn’t back. They do bring some characters back this way, but it’s so obscenely rare that I would be willing to put a lot of money on the fact that we absolutely won’t get another Optimus Prime next year. So now we’re just left with a lot of massive characters that leave and have a 95% chance of not returning in any form for a decade. Imagine the perspective of a massive Attack on Titan fan who joins the game and waits for the collab to return to the item shop, only to find that there are just a couple side characters because the main character was in a battle pass a year ago and likely won’t ever return in any form. I don’t know what the best practice is for Epic as a company, but I sure do feel bad for people in situations like that and wish they had some kind of solution, but as of now and for the foreseeable future, they just don’t.

Grinding gives me goals . When I reach a goal, I get a reward. Whether it's a skin, spray, emot, or whatever. It can be tedious, but it's fun and means more because I worked for it.

Honestly if you purchased a battle pass and weren’t able to finish you should be given that since you paid for it considering some challenges required friends, not everyone had that back in the day

I agree with this there was some colabs skins I wanted from the battle passes I had to get to level 100 I think to get Optimus Prime and I think season 3 I tried getting Indiana Jones but I had to do quest to unlock all of his stuff it was a struggle I don't really do battle royale is why to much stress but I take things one step at a time I'm greatful for some of the stuff I already have on the game the way they do things is chaotic though😂

As of right now I have exactly 1099 skins. I'm 1 away from 1100. I started in Ch 1 season 5. Ive played every season since. I was 1 year late to the party. My first skin was starter pack Wingman. My thought was this game is free and i'll just get 1 character. Yah I kinda got hooked. If I was a real OG and started seasons 1 through 4, I would have liked to have gotten the Black Knight or Renegade Raider. Honestly if I started at the start I probably would have bought Renegade Raider as my starter just to look different than the defaults. I've accepted there are some skins I'll never own but thanks to reskins you can have something just as good. Also I love my job giving freedom to spend my money how I please. Lol please don't hate me or be jelly.

Epic isnt as innocent as you make them to be klarque. Not only do they keep collabs exclusive in battlepasses. They also refuse to sell some the item shop alternatives, like what the flip is up with that. They know whta they are doing

I have almost every collab skin from battlepasses and I believe a good solution to me would be if they would release the collab skins again as another style of the character. This will make people still want the battle pass if they want those specific styles that will be rare. We have seen this with Spider-Man and I think it could easily apply to other collab skins.

"You can't always get what you want." Yes, but it literally just doesn't have to be this way. Fortnite could please everyone, and in the end the complainers would just be quiet because they realize how stupid or irrelevant their arguements were. I think they should at the very least bring back old collab skins, because there is no really good reason to gatekeep those. Maybe if Fortnite sees what Overwatch 2 is doing with their battlepasses next season and on, something might happen.

I think at the very least they should bring back alternative versions of iconic characters. Lara Croft, raven and Deadpool being gone forever reallyyyyyy sucks. It also doesn’t help that the older skins are noticeable lower quality than the new stuff we get now. Like the idea of superman, a character who is the face of DC likely won’t come back and is bound to his old quality style is frustrating.

Honestly battle passes shouldn't return because battle passes now have reskins of other battle pass skins we've had 2 battle pass reskins of battle pass skins in the battle pass the 1st one is Purradise Meowscles just Meowscles wearing Summer clothes and has hair and the other is this season Vegeance Jones it's Agent Jones from the chapter 2 season 6 battle pass however remember he left IO so he isn't wearing a suit anymore and he has a beard now and now he is seeking vegeance for Peely because he was taken by the Society and they put battle pass reskins in the item shop for example Summer Midas and Beach Jules and Innovator Slone so battle passes shouldn't return because a new version of the skin will get released in a battle pass or the item shop and Meowscles and Agent Jones were very popular hence why they got new versions in battle passes

See the problem with this I used to own all these cosmetics I lost my account cuz my account got hacked and I want the stuff I have back so that's the reason why I want the old battle passes to all they have to do is make a new tab you can buy the new battle pass and then it unlocks a new tap and then you can purchase old battle passes and yeah I don't want them to release them in the shop I want them to do what Halo infinite is doing I spent all that money and I lost my account by a hacker I had season 2 battle pass clear to chapter 3 season 1 and I lost it I also have exclusive I had a iconik in and I can never get them skins back to me I should be able to get the stuff I had back have an exclusive items they exclusive kind of sucks also everybody says this its exclusive it's not coming back get technically exclusive doesn't always means it's going to stay exclusive you're taking the epic can change their mind and bring back old battle passes if they want to and I believe one day well because all these other games are doing battle passes it's not going to age well secondly fortnite is having these new game modes now they're focusing on too it's going to be kind of hard to focus on the Battle Royale and rocket racing battle pass and the other one it's like guitar hero it's just going to be so much to do and you can do all these everybody else likes to play other games they can't just stay on one game a lot of people likes playing other games and if too many people are doing this it's not going to work out they're going to start losing people eventually the community of fortnite will eventually realize and they're going to want epic to change the battle pass system how do I have one question if anybody do would like to have the old battery passes to return say yes and give this comment I like as well

I've gotta disagree, it's cheaper to get the battle pass then to buy the skin separately so you already have an incentive to buy the whole battle pass for 10 dollars over the one skin for 15 or 16 dollars not counting the pickaxes or gliders, when it comes to integrity I don't agree, seeing as Ghoul Trooper and Skull Trooper returned with an exclusive style and Recon Expert a really rare skin came back in chapter 2 or 3 with no OG style or anything there has been exception when it comes to exclusivity. Your idea of trading and selling skins has been something the community has been meaning to implement in the game for a long time.

W video and i do think fortnite have a good way at putting one of the * main * characters in the battle pass and then putting the side characters like how we got optimus prime in the battle pass then got bumblebee and megatron and a battle pass skin in the shop.

I completely agree with you, but part of me also thinks that after so many years that they should either bring back the old ones for a higher price AND/OR make a new version that stays true to the original(I'm looking at you, Paradigm. I much prefer the original and not the alternate reality one we had during the chrome Battlepass). I think if Epic is gonna treat these digital action figures like real limited time action figures, then they should have some sort of trading system. There are so many kids who maybe had to share the same account with siblings for years and are now grown enough to make new accounts for themselves, losing any potential skins that may not be used by the siblings or family member or friend of any sort. At least with action figures, you can take it with you or maybe make a deal on who ends up keeping them. An example I have is I grew up on Yu-Gi-Oh! cards and for a long time they didn't reprint old cards because maybe it didn't fit the new art direction or something. But after many years, they will occasionally reprint the original Blue Eyes White Dragon from Kaibas deck and put them in booster packs. That card was exclusive to the starter deck(there were other versions that were totally obtainable, but THAT one had the coolest art at the time) back when I was a kid and now everyone has one or can get one. So maybe Epic can have "reprints" kinda thing after so many years of the original release. I think it would still be on brand and people would have their chance to come back to the game and collect their digital toy soldiers

I think a trading system is the only way for this to be fixed, tbh. I originally thought any battle pass should be open to anyone who played during the season they want the pass from, but now I see the flaw in that. Trading would allow people to truly be able to express themselves with the skins they want while not causing what I'd call an "inflation" in certain cosmetics. With trading, take black knight for example, and let's just say 500,000 people have him. With trading, they aren't selling skins again, people are giving them to each other. there would always be 500,000 black knights. Klarque you probably aren't reading my yap session but I agree with your logic now completely.

I think that a lot of good would come from being able to access older battle passes, be it just the characters or the whole pass. Mostly because of the Lego mode. There are a ton of battle pass exclusive characters that have Lego designs and it's kinda sad that not everyone will be able to use those Lego styles

I really like your workaround idea! As Fortnite becomes a “metaverse” type game like Roblox, giving people the ability to purchase “limiteds” could help keep the community going if they ever hit a point of content drought. People complaining about an optional choice is fair, (i complained and still dislike some new changes), but as someone who joined later into the game, in completely fine with my OG friends having what I dont. They had the experiences back then, they get the skins they bought as exclusives! Plus, id argue most new skins are leagues better creativity wise, even if some of the OG ones are still beloved. Ironman doesn’t have any other variants that are real versions, I don’t care about Fortnite’s stupid original design.
