This chapter is why Khorne wanted the Blood Angels so badly

I did gain a lot of respect for Gabriel Seth after reading "Devastation of Baal". He was ruthless, brutal, and uncompromising, but he clearly had a code of honor, had deep and unwavering love and respect for his gene-sire, and genuinely wished to have him and his chapter looked upon as proud warriors and not mindless monster. It was made clear that while you most certainly don't want to fight beside him, you definitely want him on your side.

from memory, when Dante was asking for help, Seth's turning point was when Dante (mid-battle) referred to him as brother. Seth claimed it was the first time since his arrival on Baal that Dante had given him that respect. he'd refuse tribute to the Blood Angels chapter, but he would give aid to a brother.

Another cool moment is when Sentor Jool (chapter master of the knights of blood) killed an innocent subordinate and offered up his blood to Gabriel as a way of extending friendship. Gabriel was immediately disgusted by this, not because he so casually killed someone’s but because that person was innocent. Despite how much Gabriel wants to indulge and drink his blood he refuses and says that he will never *willingly* do that to an innocent man.

Apparently in a fairly recent look in game, despite the Blood Angels Detachment rule having a lower win rate than Gladius more Blood Angels players would rather not be Red Ultramarines so Brother Seth is proud. Also he's already like a head taller other Firstborns Astartes. Day 315 of requesting a Commissar Yarrick Major Mini pls and thank you.

The passage where he kicks the shit out of his own primaris wasn't just because he was unimpressed with them. It was to demonstrate the harsh reality of what they were. Yeah, you're big. Yeah, you're strong. Yeah, you were made better. But are you actually better? Seth is an interesting character because even in contention with the Black Rage, he is never reckless. He can't afford to be. Everything he seems to do has a purpose. It has a point.

So among Seth's powers is the ability to unleash killer insults/burns.

Didn't Seth also get locked in a room with an Eversor - _alone_ - and actually managed to kill it? I mean sure, he had to wait for it to burn itself out and spent most of the fight trying not to get his spine ripped out but still. How many people have survived and won against an Eversor by themselves?

I still remember how Seth reacted to the Knights of Blood and their Chapter Master Sentor Jool. They were even more reckless and brutal.

Seth is the true image of saying: I am a monster but I am a monster who fight for my people while under anger management class. Making me see why Khorne want to claim him and his battle brothers so much.

Theres a fan fiction story about a group of primaris flesh tearers scared about a tsunami of tyranids about to crash into them. The sgt primaris sent a message to hq telling them they needed reinforcements but no one replied leading them to think the chapter hated them and were going to leave them out to hang,but out of nowhere they got a signal a drop pod was coming in. When the drop pod landed they all were shook to see gabriel seth himself exit the pod with some terminators as he crashed into the tyranid wave solo and started going ham enraging the primaris to all charge full speed into the nids in defense of their chapter master. This is my favorite flesh tearers story as it shows the kind of leader seth really is charging solo into a literal army of nids risking his life just to show the primaris who he doesnt like in the first place how they are expected to fight as flesh tearers. Even though this is not lore I feel like it's plausible for seth if he were to fight with the primaris.

Since we got Flesh Tearers, we should get Knights of Blood next

Flesh Tearers and the Lamentors are my favorite Blood Angel successor chapters, being noble sons of the Angel but having a shadow cast on them even when they still fight with everything to live up to that legend. From a video from the Rememberencer I heard in Gabriel's trial that it was noted that each successor chapter represented a facet of Sanguinius, making the Flesh Tears and most certainly Gabriel all the more important, showing that darkness inside of the Angels but also the strength to overcome it. I also admit bias for Gabriel as his last name is my first name lol

I play Flesh Tearers. My army is like 95% assault marines. I have never won a game. This is fine.

Shame flesh tearers are literally the biggest assholes. They’re so hard to root for, even in the books that are specifically written about them. I found it easier to root for the nightlords in their books, and they literally flay their own crew members for no reason.

I can't remember what book its in but i really loved how he told dante and other blood angels chapter masters that they can do anything to him but if they try to do anything to his chapter he would kill them all brutally

The Flesh Tearers are why deeply flawed Chapters are so much more interesting then the poster boys in blue. As humans we are flawed ourselves, so we identify more with people who are flawed as well then with people who appear to be perfect.

Fuck yes, the most noble son of The Angel. I know that Black Rage insane but he most embodies Sangis flaws and what made him truly great.

There is a scene in devastation of baal pretty cool where he is so efficient at mele fight that the nids avoid direct assault on him

I have two audio dramas about Gabriel Seth named Blood in the Machine and Hunger and both have made me his fans. Also I really love his quote "if Gulliman had his way we would be red Ultramarines" about Primaris.

What's also nice about the Flesh Tearers is their paint scheme isn't that hard to do.

I like how the flesh tearers make little to no effort to keep their sanguinary guard up to capacity, because the idea of Seth needing bodyguards is so laughable. Like Angron with the devourerers...

To put in perspective how insane it is that the Flesh Tearers drove Orks to actually fear and avoid them, the only other example of that happening that comes to mind is when the Primary Jaghatai Khan enters his flow state and starts ripping them to shreds. even if it's an entire chapter of psychos, the fact that they can inspire the same level of fear as a Primarch in battle is pretty wild.

What about the time Seth took on an everesor in the audio drama the assassination of Gabriel Seth?

How does Khorne feel about the whole black rage thing, and do the Blood Angels or their successor chapters ever lose marines to the corruption of chaos?

The world eaters is what Sanguinses and the blood angels could have been if Sanguinses found a less fortunate homeworld Angron and the world eaters could have been so much more...

Imagine being taken to court by The Blood-drinking Angels of Death, once the Revenant Legion, almost executed by the Master of Mankind if not for the actions of their gene-father; for committing *too many* warcrimes for even them.

Okay, admittedly Gabriel Seth is not the deepest character. He knows his role, and he plays it perfectly. He isn't an idiot, as most would believe. He isn't the strongest by any measure. No, Seth has a role that most people don't notice. Endurance. Seth has a mission for his chapter. He knows they are doomed. He is going to go down in as much glory as possible. He saw what happened to the Knights of Blood, in the defense of Baal. He doesn't want to be remembered as an out of control hoarde. He is very careful with his fights, trying to win with as few losses as possible. Except when the act of fighting is more important than the outcome. He literally went to Astorath's tower. The guy who kills the out of control Death Company. Foght him hand to hand, and managed a stalemate. Astorath. The guy who literally puts down the strongest of the Blood Angels. Astorath's first major hit is described as a thunderhammer to Seth's face. He manages to endure it. The fight isn't long. Astorath has a jump pack, Seth breaks it. They both put each other in the hospital. Seth, on his way out says that if Astorath kills a single more Flesh Tearer, he'll come back, but won't be alone and unarmed. Seth would literally start a war to save his brothers under his care. THAT is why Seth deserves the respect he has.

Seth is easily one of the best characters they have. He has so many layers to him that you can't help but love the guy

Hearing this and with majorkill explaining I still despise this chapter and hate Seth. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself and his chapter and would probably betray the imperium in a heartbeat if it meant his chapter would live. Also, he doesn’t care about killing ally’s, the only reason he has the deep strike away from ally’s is so that his chapter will look better, not to stop his chapter from killing others. I bet if they were allowed to kill ally’s, he would gladly let his chapter loose upon any ally, wether they be another chapter from the blood angels to innocent civilians.

I believe there was alot of sexual tension between Astorath and Gabriel Seth.

I strongly recommend everyone read the Gabriel Seth book Trial by blood. It really illustrates how complex a character he is.

Nasir Amit has one of the coldest lines ever in the SOT. Without spoiling much, a traitor worldeater who used to be essentially Amit’s honour brother recognizes Amit while dying. He calls to his *brother* Amit to save him, begging for forgiveness. Amit walks over and looks at his fallen brother, “eat shit traitor”, as Amit coup-de-graces the Astartes.

Trial of Blood is one of my top omnibuses of 40k - it absolutely enamoured me to the Flesh Tearers and Seth. I love how he despised the Primaris. I hate that GW eventually “made him bow before G-Man” because “it was right” Seth is an asshole, but a justified one.

I forget where it's written, probably a BA codex, but there's a point about the Flesh Tearers having the smallest amount of Death Company - purely because of the near permanent status of being in combat. Seth might be a dick but the guy will do anything to save his chapter.

How... How do you "accidentally" eat a baby? There's a lot to unpack there! And the big guy was guilty... Of being too wrong in how he won, but was one of the very few who could win that it was deemed more criminal to stop him then continue his crimes!
