Tom Welling has been kinda quiet in Hollywood since his gig as Clark Kent on the CW's Smallville ended in 2011. Although he was the original superhero on a network that's since become known for its comic book shows, Welling has yet to capitalize on the show's success to push into the next stage of his acting career. @Angelina Oliver I was born defective! But to be clear, Smallville is one of my favorite shows. Tom Welling was awesome in the role. The latest pics I've seen of him look like he is a man who exercises and takes care of himself. I like the guy as an actor. Never met him, though.

no totally depends on the actor, Daniel Day Lewis is super picky regarding his roles, but he is currently the best actor there is, no one tops in terms of quality and most directors would kill to have him in their ensemble. Sure there are many that only get little offers and just say they are picky to avoid public shaming, but there are alos some that are acutally sucessfull and very picky, daniel day lewis, viggo mortensen, bruno ganz ( german actor, hitler in der utnergang), christian bale and alot more are very very picky

He still looks pretty great so him being "older" is not the issue, I just think that the people in charge of Supergirl just want to separate it as much as possible from Smallville and them casting him as superman would not help towards that.

Tom Welling was fantastically casted in Smallville. He has the body of a Greek god needed for the role of young Clark Kent. I read on his face the good sense from the countryside, barely tainted by a certain naivety. Yet, far from looking like a fop without substance, his screen presence is imbued by the solemn air characteristic to super heroes. Assuredly, it's going to be difficult for him to find a role as finely tailored as this one.

This is a poor and pointless video. He said in the past that he was way overworked from shooting Smallville for 17 hours a day for ten consecutive years. He said he doesn't want to do something because he "has to" but only if he wants to. Michael Rosenbaum also said that while he usually used to be on set for 4/5 days on average on a 10 day shooting schedule, Tom instead was the only one who was always on set 9 days out of 10. So he acted for 10 consecutive years, 9 and a half months a year, he acted basically at every hour of the day. And he doesn't have to do anything for money, clearly. It's not that "Hollywood won't cast him anymore", he has actually rejected roles.

Tom Welling was great on Smallville, and was especially exciting when his character turned dark, although he is equally good at comedy. The three movies mentioned post-Smallville featured Tom in minor roles, and their success or failure was not dependent on him. Tom's potential is unlimited, with a capacity for romance, comedy, action, and drama, plus he has a massive fan base, and anything he wants to take on will be supported by us.

I was a HUGE Smallville fan, watched it loyally from the first episode to the last when it was actually on the air. I miss that show. Would be cool to see Tom get back into acting. I know it'll never happen.. but since Superhero shows are pretty much all the rave now days.. they should cast him as SUPERMAN and give him his own TV show. I mean really.. he was Clark on Smallville, so why not give him his own Superman show. I'd personally love to see it happen.

i miss smallville too.. here i didnt get to see all the episodes because they do it completely randomly it seems like one day its middle of a season next day its the first episode of the season and so it went on so i never got to see em all :( and netflix doesnt have it either its sad and i absolutely hate the "arrow" series thats so lame i want smallville again!

He never wanted to play Superman, that's why he was very adamant with his contract signing to Smallville that Superman was only vaguely mentioned.. that's why, we also barely see him as Superman for the finale episode.. He's one of those who didn't want to get type cast, that's why he refused the role for Superman Returns and why he won't be Superman in Supergirl. Believe me, I'd have liked to have seen him as the Man of Steel myself, but.. it's time to get over it and move on..

Tom Welling was amazing TV actor on Smallville. Still annoys me that he didn't get casted as Superman in Supergirl. He's so underrated. The problem is that studios use rotten tomatoes as a legitimate source. The writer of this video isn't validating RT, they are merely stating that bad RT scores can hurt a career. Studios make plenty of stupid decisions, ignoring that fact doesn't make it any less true.

I'm a big smallville fan. I think I watched every episode. Once in a while I still watch some clips here and there. I think they should continue Smallville again. You can never run out of new ideas on a super hero show. Just come up with a new bad guy and have the entire season lead up to that final fight like they do in every super hero movie/series.

I had read an announcement that Welling was going to reprise his role in the Supergirl show. Obviously it isn't going to happen now and it makes me sad. Of course, with the graying hair in some of the photos in this vid, he might not be able to play the eternally young Kryptonian any longer.

Many of the not - so - bright would think the show is a follow-up of smallville, but they already severed that possibility by tying Supergirl to The Flash and Arrow, which do not have any ties to Smallville.

John I wish Michael Rosenbaum had been casted as the Flash in the upcoming Justice League movie. The guy is perfect for it. He has the personality and he's voiced the character several times in the animated shows and movies.

Chris Fuentes I agree, Michael Rosenbaum would make a good Flash, but I'm not sure about him as Barry Allen. As you probably know he voiced the Wally West version of the Flash who has a different personality to Barry, he is more light-hearted imo. Although it seems that Barry in the upcoming JLA movie has Wally's personality more than Barry's, so yeah Michael Rosenbaum probably would be a good choice, but I think they wanted someone younger, and so they went with Ezra Miller. But as for fans getting confused if they cast Tom as Clark in Supergirl . . . I'm sorry to say but I don't really care about the part-time fans who don't understand or don't follow the shows/ comics ect. I would like to see the movie/tv producers make movies/tv shows for the hardcore fans that already have knowledge and an appreciation of the characters, not just those who are jumping on the bandwagon.

Come on, you already know anybody who plays Superman falls victim to typecasting. But like the narator said, he could really cash in on it. Jenifer Lawrence did Hunger Games and it MAde her career, its a book based movie, kind of like comic books. George Clooney has stated BATMAN AND ROBIN helped his career even though that movie sucked because its an INTERNATIONALLY viewed blockbuster, and got him way more exposure than ER.

Watching Smallville now.. Never watched it whole before. I'm season 3... Tom is incredible, talented, handsome, and he is really the true superman image.. I can't imagine anyone else as superman.. or Clark Kent... so it takes an incredible talented actor to do this to the audience... make us believe no one else can be in that role... So, I guess he must just find the opportunity to a good movie or series and with his super powers of acting, make anyone believe that in that role should be only Tom Welling!

kalemi276 And in season 3 the series hasn't even matured nearly as much as in the later seasons ... When you're watching 4x10 "Scare" about half an hour into the episode, be prepared for an absolutely mind blowing scene - featuring only Lex Luther, with exceptionally artistic imagery and the most energetic, impelling soundtrack you will have heard ever since the beginning. To me, these are the most outstanding 55 seconds of the whole series :D In case you remember these lines then, don't forget to reply again.

WOW ... the whole series in 2 or 3 months ... didn't see much else then, did you :) This can lead to addiction, and then you gotta do rehab ^^ When I haven't watched it for a year or two, I have to be very careful not to stumble over an episode accidentally -- or else there is no way back! ;D

I watched Smallville with my son clear up to the time it went off air. Many people do not know how really popular the show and Tom Welling were at the time. Supernatural was and is my other favorite show. Both shows were shot in Vancouver B.C and many of the actors in the various seasons of both shows are now starring in major movies and T.V. series. Justin Hartley was the Green Arrow in Smallville and Eric Johnson was in the first few seasons. Jensen Ackles was in one season of Smallville before starring in his own show (Supernatural). My point is that if those actors have made it then I do think we will see more of Tom Welling.

There are things so good that they can hardly be matched. Tom may not have had an extensive career, but he is one of those few who have crystallized in the memory of the masses, forever become the superfriend that everyone wants to have or be.
