I remember a rumor back before telltale disbanded, that their were plans for having the 3rd season's villain in Telltale's Batman to be Hush & that the player wouldn't know if they were playing as Bruce Wane or Hush for certain sequences. Given how, I feel, overall the Telltale Batman versions of characters are excellent else-world versions of iconic Gotham characters I would have liked to see what a Telltale Hush Batman would have been. Edit: Yes telltale Penguin basically has Hush's backstory... its almost like... never mind.

@@Rav_Ram - Hey Ramôn! I've linked the thread in which *Matt* (who used to be a pretty big name in the Bat-fandom, back in the ol' days) explained why the movie was canned, after the link to the artwork. "Legions of Gotham has the exclusive look at the pitch art for a Direct to Video/DVD feature that Jeff Matsuda had wanted to make when he was working on The Batman! I don't know if you all know this, but Jeff is good friends with a certain Mr. Jeph Loeb. From day one I've been talking with Jeff about getting Hush into the series, and from day one he was hoping to do that. It never panned out, but he did dig out some great art he used to try and sway the powers that be at WB. We may have some more details on what was to be coming soon." "After the success of the The Batman Versus Dracula DTV, it seemed like another The Batman DTV was inevitable. And, actually, there was a second The Batman DTV in early pitching stages, a DTV which would have focused on Hush. However, Warner Bros. Animation wanted to keep the The Batman DTV franchise going as a "The Batman Versus Another Monster" series, so the The Batman Versus Hush (tentative title) idea never went beyond the pitching stage. Whether we'll see future The Batman DTVs remain to be seen." This is Randall Flagg again ^^ this wasn't the first time Hush was thought of for Jeff Matsuda's *The Batman* this time, I'm pasting a quote from Alan Burnette from this link: www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0703/01/index.htm "Alan Burnett, executive producer of Kids' WB!'s The Batman, revealed that this Saturday's episode, "Rumors," was originally intended to feature another character. "We wanted to do a Hush story, but I think DC wanted us to stay away from him for a little while, so this story turned into a villain whose name is Rumor," Burnett said. "He's a guy who's trying to clean up Gotham even more than Batman is. Trying to clear up Gotham to the point of homicidal activity. So he has to be stopped." Ron Perlman, who earlier played Killer Croc, returns to The Batman to voice Rumor in the episode. Here's how the episode, which also features The Penguin and Catwoman, is described: "A new vigilante, one playing for keeps, comes to Gotham, with his sights set on taking down the city's major villains permanently. Now Batman finds himself in the unusual position of having to protect some of his greatest enemies from this deadly threat."

Vee - as soon as you said "entire rogue's gallery" I immediately thought why couldn't Hush have been everyone? Riddler pulling the strings, using Clayface to look like Bruce Wayne. Maybe even have Clayface flow over someone like The Joker, and everyone is dressed as Hush so Batman is never sure who is where. A grand game, where everyone keeps the secret of who was where at what time. Then the Hush identity could be anyone in the future, we never know WHO is under the bandages.
@aspiringjoker2883
@aspiringjoker2883 3 года назад
Riddler was technically pulling the strings the whole time, which is why he and Hush are switched in the animated film. What's more, Riddler tells the audience that Hush's name comes from the nursery rhyme "Hush little baby" which is about a "spoiled brat that can't be satisfied." So the entire rogues gallery knew how fundamentally stupid and whiny Hush was, makes me want to laugh.

To be completely honest if they just tweaked the story a bit the thomas elliot would've been a better character. Like if instead the car crash wasnt planned by him and after his hatred for the waynes started because they couldnt save one of his parents. And bruce even made a promise to him in the comic that they will be ok his dad is the best doctor in the world so it would make more sense if it was more like batman's origin.

Literally this. They were so close to giving him motivation. It even makes sense with Hush being the anti-batman. Batman's war om crime stems from his experience as a kid, but while more well meaning you have Tommy hold a grudge on Bruce specifically, with his motivations being more childish blaming Bruce for something he had zero control over. Hell, involve Mrs.Elliot more. She loses her husband and becomes bitter, and teaches Tommy to hold that grudge against the Waynes or something.

Everyone reading sees the obvious coming, Thomas Elliott is Hush, but no one sees the actual surprise coming, that Riddler is the master mind behind the plot and Hush is just as much a cog as any other featured villain. "Hush little baby... It's about a kid who can't be satisfied. And it stuck." Hush as a story wasn't about introducing a new top bad guy but fixing a classic one. After reading the last scene in Arkham, I was incredibly invested in Riddler as a newly revived villain but then they never followed up on it.

I think this character has not been understood by most but you can only understand it if you know his past The main motivation of Hush is for me the greatest motivation of a villain ever, Hush does not do what he does for money or for being a child of dad and mom Hush does what he does because he envies Bruce Wayne, Roger Elliot, mistreat Tommy since childhood and his mother (the reason he has her mother's pendant with him) but the mother also did not complain these acts, Tommy wanted to kill them and Thomas Wayne ruined him Tommy feels that Bruce had everything in this life and so, he had kind parents and even with his death he still had Alfred, Money, resources, love, humanity... Tommy had nothing like that, he had no love because his mistreatments made him insensitive, and all his live turning the most cold and inhuman character in the DC universe (You just need to see that in her revenge he takes Catwoman's heart cut off and does not even know her) Hush has the most solid motivation of all and is a better villain than the Joker, by far, all of him was taken from birth and wanted to bite the life and take what belongs to him (That is why he stays with his mother and takes care of her, to inherit the name Elliot and have what her father wanted to take away, but her mother disinherit him even when he had always cared of her, so he also kills her drowning her with a pillow)

Well, yeah. But it's still not actually interesting. There's no meat there. You can dislike him, but you can't hate him unless we really get to see him doing the horrible stuff. You can't like him, because he's so obviously a utilitarian afterthought to the plot, aside from what he's doing in the story he doesn't have any characterization here. He works more as a collection of plot points than as a person, which is not where you want to hang your dramatic reveal in after spending months building up his identity. Internal consistency is good, but his backstory is basically just Bruce on opposite day with nothing built on it. Penguin and Black Mask both make better use of the same ideas and diverge enough to actually have a personality, which Hush never manages.

Honestly I agree with you. Another thing is that Hush is basically similar in a way to the original version of Roman Sionis. Originally Roman Sionis hated Bruce Wayne because he was the one who bought his company and left him in debt and thats why Roman hates Bruce. As much as complicated and weak as Roman’s original origins was, they’re at least better than Hush’s and have more reasons as to why he hates Bruce unlike Hush and it also feels like they ripped off Black Mask and smashed him with the Crime Doctor to make a new villain. Oh yeah also both the original Black Mask and the Crime Doctor are better than Hush

Thought I was the only one. This comic is so overrated, and it’s really sickening when I see people put it up along actual masterpieces like A Long Halloween. I like the idea of Hush, but ultimately it’s very hard to make it work, they started off incredibly well in Arkham City, and they fucked up in Arkham Knight.

I personally only like it because of the subplot of Batman and Catwoman's romantic relationship ( as so far that is the only comic book I have seen that actually takes their relationship to the next level... If there is a comic run that does it much better, please tell me what it is as I would be very interested in having it ). I don't like hush as a character though... I agree with everything aside from the whole he manipulated all of Gotham Villians and Batman when IT WAS RIDDLER. THAT WAS THE WHOLE POINT OF THE COMIC. (Sorry excited). It was Riddler pulling all the strings (including Hush) to prove he was still a threat.
@Nh90010
@Nh90010 2 года назад
@Mastermind While Hush was instrumental in Riddler's plan and they did work closely. It was Riddler who figured out how to manipulate the other villains (at least that's my interpretation). And Hush was only in it for Bruce Wayne, Riddler used this for his plan to gain respect from Batman Batman: "I honestly didn't think you were capable of it. 'Criminal Mastermind' and *you* didn't come together immediately." Riddler: "That was sort of the point, wasn't it?" ..... "I used to be a somebody in this in this town. Now, everybody has a gimmick. I was going to show them all. And I *did* ." To me at least this confirms that the Riddler was always in charge and Hush was a pawn (albeit a very important one)

He was dying of cancer and got a taste of the Lazarus Pit which made him even smarter, and he was behind all of it NOT Hush. Although it's never revealed how Riddler found out Batman's identity Batman threatens him that he will tell Ra's about the pit if Riddler traded off batman's identity. Hush is a Gary Stu, because he's another version of "what if Batman went bad?" - he's just the other part of it in "What if Bruce Wayne went bad?" Batman/Bruce being the Gary Stu he is, it makes perfect sense. The only real failure was the failure to seed his integration correctly, which led to disappointment at the end of lackluster intrigue.

I know this is an old video but what bothered me about Hush in hindsight was how he's essentially a patchwork villain that combined Black Mask's origin while using TDKR Two-Face's design without any of the substance or history of those characters. It's a new villain that pretends its ideas are somehow novel when they aren't, wherein those same ideas have already been executed better in past Batman stories. It feels like everything about him is written for shock value just to make him look better than all the existing characters.

Hush is a Batman Rogue that doesn't work beyond his own story... If Hush was to be a true Rogue, I'd design him to be like The Mime, a silent enemy who never talks (like Neo from RWBY) who primarily attacks the Gotham Gazette and news media for a mysterious reason that is somewhat related to bad news company practices. Maybe make his backstory multiple choice but with that one uniting theme: he wants to silence them.

I feel like criticizing batman's villains motivations for things is kind of silly. The joker is universally loved (and completely overused) but nobody complains about his motivations. They certainly don't make any sense. I'm middle of the road with Hush, definitely could have been done better but damn the ride was a good time. I thought it would have been better if it turned out to be an established character but then the riddler reveal in the hush movie was honestly pretty lame so I look better on it after that.

The identity is really obvious, being the only new character. The character motivation is also stupid: revenge for being the son of he man who had THE GALL to save his parents so it would take him longer to inherit their money. What a tragedy. Also, if you want to ruin his life so much why not just botch the surgery so he's in constant pain.

Honestly, Husk might have been better off if they hadn't revealed his identity. Batman could have maybe found out that Hush's family is somehow connected to the Wayne family. But due to Hush being so absolutely smart and cunning, Batman never really ends up discovering who Husk or his family are because of how well Husk managed to scrub his past. That sounds like a near impossible task, but it's enough to show that Hush is in fact smart enough to outwit Bruce and his god detective skills

Totally agree. Writing a good mystery tale requires misleading your readers, not outright lying to them, as Loeb did with Hush (and many of his other mystery arcs that follow the same plot, really.) You can't kill Tommy Elliot convincingly on-panel, then double-back and say "Whoops that was Clayface, I fooled ya!" That's not good writing. That's a lie, not a clue or a misdirection.

Here’s my idea for a, significantly less stupid, backstory for Hush: What if Thomas Elliot was a league of shadows operative that was trained to to become an excellent fighter and master manipulator. Sometime, he is sent out into Gotham City with the purpose of taking down Batman, the one man that poses a threat to the league. There you go. Believable backstory for your villain.

I'm hardly a comic book writer and I just came up with this off the top of my head, so I doubt the idea is perfect. But I would think a way to do Hush would be to not only utilize the fact that he knows Bruce Wayne is Batman, but also play on Bruce's inexperience in early years. Maybe some property of Elliot's gets destroyed in a fight between Batman and a supervillain, followed by Bruce paying for it and getting to look good publicly from both ends. Eventually, Bruce could potentially come to Thomas for some medical help following a fight with Bane or something, causing Thomas to learn his identity and deeply misunderstand him, making that resentment deepen. I think that would make for a more personal vendetta than just "Your dad did a thing I don't like".

One little tweak I’ve thought of for his character is make Thomas Elliott just like Bruce Wayne except poor. His parents are murdered on the exact same day as Bruce’s but no one cares because they’re not rich billionaires, it doesn’t even make the news. So while Bruce Wayne is being showered with the world’s sympathy and attention because he’s rich and famous, Thomas has to go through the same pain all alone, forgotten, hushed. Causing him to hate Bruce Wayne and all the One percenters. That at least gives him an understandable, almost relatable motivation for his hatred of Bruce.
