Connie isn’t as dim-witted as he seems, Sasha is braver than she lets on, Ymir is actually more emotional than Historia, Reiner is a complex character fighting to stay sane, and Bertholdt is saddened with betraying his comrades, yet is completely focused on what he has been signed to do. This season was what we needed and going in season three, I am hyped to see how they tell the story since this anime stays true - as much as it can - to the manga while adding a little more than we expect.

AoT has that unique ability to make you want to go back and re-watch the series over again to pick up on any references and foreshadowing for things that became more and more relevant as the story unfolded. The more you re-watch, the more you find. That's quality, well-planned, believable story-telling that you rarely find with any form of entertainment nowadays. With S3, it makes S1 and S2 even better for the what was revealed. The hype for S4 has already started and will only get bigger.

I honestly love this season more because it's less about Eren and more about the other characters that we seem to neglect. Also I have read the manga, so I know what happens and it's nice to see those sections animated. I watched the first season with no more info about it but the abridged series.

I think the hype for season 2 is less, because the fans that became overly hyped after season 1 cheated and reached out for the mangas. So for them the Season 2 carries less weight I guess. Also, it is hard to share thoughts and hype about season 2 for those who did not read the manga. I am one of those. I cannot even watch the most generic plot-related vids on RU-vid without the fear of getting manga-spoilers thrown into my face.

Manga reader here, it's good that they chose 12 episodes for this season, as long as they're doing 24/25 next season. If they went for 24/25 this season, the ending wouldn't have been so great. The next arc is slower, but my favorite so far, but it's ending won't work well for the anime without the following arc.

Honestly, the reason I think there's less hype is that since the first season alot of people have read so far ahead in the Manga, and if they're anything like me, find it tedious to rewatch it in the anime.

This season has surpassed all expectations for me. It's been utterly fantastic, and even with fewer episodes, it's already proved better than the first season.

I think the lack of hype is cause most of the over hyped people got tired of waiting for s2 and read the manga or the synopsis of the manga. either way they know what's coming, making theorizing pretty useless, and without trying to analyze multiple parts of the anime, the discussion stops being big

Personal opinion: To me. Who has at least 10 years of anime watching and manga reading experience... Attack on titan (anime+manga) IS A MASTERPIECE. It is most definitely my favourite anime until now, despite the fandom, despite the hype and despite other people's opinions on it. Reasons are many. E.g. Think about just how similar and/or different to our own world the world of AOT is. The idea of the Attack titan, for example, is just...amazing. And I'm always trying to find out what it could mean when put in our reality. Is it the liberals? :') Is it even okay to constantly fight for freedom? Who is to blame for all the shit that's happened/is happening/is going to happen? Who is an enemy and is the enemy even the one who is evil or is it perhaps the other way around? Does good and evil even exist? (Shoutout to my man Krueger) It describes the reasons for starting a war and the meaning of it. Also, dealing with a repeating cycle of revenge and finally, gaining a factor which transcends space and time. It's an incredible philosophical piece and so much more complex and it's a shame that people simply dismiss it as another "try to stay alive while monsters attack" show and then say it's overhyped. It is overhyped, but only for being treated as a shallow story. While, I think, it should be noted that it is NOT overrated, because most of the fans of AOT(and we all know who that is) haven't even started digging through its deeper meaning. So they don't have the right to rate it...like at all. Unpopular opinion: I love Eren's character development but also each phase of his character development. Good video, except I can't say i find AOT to be overhyped in any way. I've never read a manga that made me think on life and death and good and bad the way this story does. Eren's father's backstory? Erwin's motivations? Levi's master's outlook on the world? Hanji's speech to Mikasa after the big Titan fight (Beast Titan etc)? Dude, I haven't enjoyed a manga like this in over 12 years maybe. The closest story to this is Kingdom right now in my opinion. AOT anime isn't even half way through the story. Your minds will be blown.
