While this is not an issue I've dealt with personally, I want to commend you for making this video and shedding some light on this subject. Most people don't understand how significant of a role androgens play in things like mood, energy, memory, and other things that affect us daily. Especially with all of the misinformation propped up by the fitness/supplement industry about how you can "double your test levels by taking this powder and performing these 3 simple exercises". Lifestyle does influence androgens to a degree and may be the culprit for some individuals, but there are plenty of men who are active, fit, and have great diets who still suffer from low testosterone. Thanks for sharing your experience and I wish you the best with the TRT.

Mike, four years ago I went to a barber and got a real haircut. He put something in my hair that I really liked. I had no clue what it was but I liked the end result. I became interested in hair and styling. I was on RU-vid one day and saw you. I’ve watched and learned from you for over four years now. Every time I buy a hair product or I am curious about a new product I’ve watched your videos. You’ve inspired me to chase my dreams. Because of you and that little barbershop I went to I’ve decided to go to school to become a barber. In my shop I want to do what you do on RU-vid. Teach people about the different hair products and show men that it’s okay to care about their appearance. Thank you Mike. I honestly love your channel. Merry Christmas.

Since making this video my testosterone levels only just reached the normal range about 2 months ago, and just dropped again this past week when we did the monthly draw so I’m starting a split dose regiment this week. So much easier said than done but just try to ignore the negative comments. Once you see it's going negative in the troll sense, just skip it. It sucks we always fixate on the bad things. your 100% right. I think too that ( and this is what I was getting at ) was that the side effects of the low T was impacting the way I processed mentally those negative thoughts. it was making them sting just a bit harder than they had in the past, or even as they do now that im recovering quite well. im not going to say that I dont get upset still when someone calls me a name, everyone does-but I dont think I get quite as affected by it now as I did. I've had somewhat the opposite experience of you with testosterone therapy. For me Androgel actually worked pretty well, but I had to switch off of it because my insurance changed and the new provider wouldn't cover it. That stuff is expensive, like $500/per bottle. When I switched to injections was when things went downhill for me. I have never felt that bad in my entire life, before or since, as I did when I was on injections. Finally switched docs and the new one put me on Clomid. The first time I took it I noticed a difference and knew that this was going to work a lot better than the replacement stuff (i.e. injections) and it has. So, just wanted to put this out there in case someone comes across it and thinks injections are the only way. As long as the rest of the "system" works Clomid should also work and will preserve fertility. Low testosterone is a serious matter. Testosterone does a heck of a lot more than make a man horny. It is essential to our overall health and wellbeing. Without enough of it there are serious consequences.
@MMTV
@MMTV 2 года назад
Hey there! First off, I’m super glad you got on a regiment that actually works for you, for me that’s the most important thing. And you are correct that there’s not just one thing or one regiment that will work for everyone and work 100%. The thing I get told the most is “work out more and you won’t need any treatment” that’s definitely not accurate haha and if it was as easy as that, well most folks would probably not need help with low T haha. Since making this video I have been on a good regiment, and I’m actually about to switch to clomid as well! They had me on HCG prior, but the clinic I goto is switching from that to clomid. The regiment they have me on uses 2 shots a week of T and then 2 shots of HCG to tell my body to continue producing T and not just rely on the T being introduced. Of course then I’m on estrogen blockers as well to prevent those issues. I’ve never felt better since getting this regiment ironed out. The only issues I have now is occasionally my T will get too high and I’ll have really bad breakouts on my skin. Other than that I’ve felt fantastic.

I know I never comment, but you’re probably my favorite men’s RU-vidr for the fact your content is really quality, and you don’t make me cringe. This was a great topic to hear about and I love the topic of hormone levels and quality of life, I watched this from start to finish and this was probably the first RU-vid story I actually genuinely wanted to watch. I really feel your frustration about not growing as a RU-vid channel because I look at your subscriber count and get really confused how you’re not at 100k yet, at least. People are quick to judge in really odd ways. I’ve been subscribed for a really long time but I’m just a silent person on here. But just know, you really should keep pushing because if I could only watch one hair and grooming channel it would be yours. I had my levels checked a few years ago. The doctor told me I had a very high testosterone levels and all my blood tests came back normal. Now every generation has a lower testosterone level than the previous generation. I checked my levels against the averages of previous generations and found I was normal compared to them. Why is this decline happening and why is it so prevalent in our generation? I believe it lies in the world we live in... Sleep, the food we eat and what is put in it, exercise, jobs... Everything is a factor and we have to do what we can to live a healthy lifestyle. As men I believe we have to talk about these types of subjects so people are aware and can be proactive. I commend you Mike for bringing this to light... A personal story hits home and has a better impact imo

You're absolutely right, I have no idea what it is. I talked to my grandfather and found out he had troubles too with T levels so it could be hereditary in my case, but after finding out I had this I noticed a-lot of people are dealing with it! I had no idea it was such a big thing with men! You're probably right tho, we probably need to fix all those things not only to fix T levels, but a bunch of other things can probably be improved by sleep and exercise, and overall being healthier.

Great video. Unintentional weight gain/loss without lifestyle changes (freshman 15, new job, pregnancy, etc) is one of the bigger triggers for people to come in and a red flag for providers for a lot of different conditions. I'll also just throw out there that higher fat content does increase conversion of testosterone to estrogen, so first recommendation is usually weight loss. Your symptoms definitely come through in your comments and videos. You'll have a string of awesome videos that I feel are well-balanced, like the Emperor by Lockharts/Shear Revival, Forte Series, Flagship Four Seasons videos. But then you'll have an otherwise great video with editing, sound, and demos all of great quality, but sour the whole experience with a 4 minute diatribe. Or you'll phrase things in ways that vent frustration AT your viewers. I think there are plenty of examples out there of people who handle trolls without letting it influence their content. There are also examples of people giving sensible comparisons in their videos/video descriptions (Spruceandsharp) as well as balanced criticism especially for price point (Robin James, Ben Arthur). I also think if your viewers are consistently asking the same questions, maybe there's something missing. If we were consistently complaining about sound quality, you'd get a better mic right? If they're consistently asking for the same information, maybe there's a reasonable middle ground instead of "that doesn't make sense, you're either an idiot or troll for even asking that question that makes it clear how much you dont know." Of course, I keep coming back because you always have the scoop on products I'm interested in, and good production value. You're a good guy with good video skills. I hope that your symptoms improve with continued treatment, because the difference in your attitude, and therefore content, is night/day.
@MMTV
@MMTV 4 года назад
Some of this is true, and perhaps the argument can be made that symptoms made me frustrated to an extent, but I can’t justify doing EVERYTHING people ask for or that other creators do. I could point out things I see as flaws with both those creators, just as you point out what you see as postives compared to what you think I should be doing. When it comes down to it, getting a new mic makes perfect sense to me, comparing everything to everything else, just for the sake of comparing it- with a total disregard of end result makes no sense and in the long term leads to more people that are unsatisfied. I also have trouble believing that both those creators passed me in sub count simply because they compare things and comment on price point. **Edit- its never my intention to push anyone away, but I just feel like I have to do what I believe in and I dont really believe in comparing things. Theres other things that I dont believe in either so its not just that- I dont believe in what I think some of these bigger channels ( not naming anyone specifically) do which is bash brands for views. ive been told for example, that if I just hate on MVMT like others do, that I would have many successful videos and probably more subscribers. I dont hate MVMT though and therefore, I dont do that. its kind of the same thing and I guess if that means I dont grow like the rest, or something then im not sure yet what that will mean for me. I think its a dumb reason for the channel not to grow but I cant control that. Thanks so much again.
@farazr2

@@MMTV I don't think anyone is faulting you for your beliefs, but how you present them on the channel. With your master's in counseling, you know that you have to step back and consider things from the person opposite you's point of view. Try and address where misconceptions come from, rather than confronting the question itself. If someone is comparing Original vs. Goon Grease, you can just tell them "Depends on what you're going for, Original is Natural shine and designed for prestyling or natural styles, while Goon Grease is an oil pomade designed for formal or slicker styles. Your goal hairstyle will make the choice clear" or in your video being like "I know there will be questions, ask them in the comments and maybe someone else who has tried both products can help you out! If not, check out the hair and grooming group on Facebook." Neither of the above responses is confrontational, but helps your viewers out with where to direct questions and keeps the discussion going. Further on, they may ask more apt questions like "What's the difference between Northern Lights vs. Odoud's Matte Paste?" or "Forte vs. Cavalier?" at which point, you can give more specific advice. Maybe going through this work is a waste of time for you, but it helps us, as people coming to your channel for information.

I appreciate how you present your thoughts here. I’d like to present my side of this too and again I think you make some valid points. When it comes to my education and background yes I could do some drawn out explanation on comparisons like OG and GG but I feel like it’s a waste of time for not only me, but the viewer! Time and money are 2 things I value a lot and that’s something I love to help people with here on MMTV. When someone is making comparisons, especially between 2 products that are not comparable, they are presenting attributes of each and using terms like how you said it, natural shine and the other for slicker styles. The issue there is that when the OG user buys goon, they will be vastly surprised and possibly disappointed because they were expecting it to be similar! Just slicker or with more natural shine and pre styling ability. So basically now we are presented with a scenario where we are both ending at the same position- those products are not comparable. The question then becomes how fast do we get there, do we go through a list of attributes that each possess and end with “but they are still too different to compare” or do we cut the middle man out and simply declare them as incomparable, thus saving time for everyone and- along with the explanation of “one is oil based and the other isn’t” that viewer now has the ability to know that in the future their question can be answered instantly, thus saving even more time for themselves. There’s also another aspect to this and that’s the need for comparisons at all. I have the belief that one can take a review and a list of attributes and make a determination based on that without the need to ask how it compares. I think sometimes it’s a reflex to ask these days. I really appreciate the discussion tho I really enjoy talking about this stuff.

@MMTV
@MMTV 2 года назад
Merry Christmas to you as well! I appreciate you watching as well! I’d actually recommend you do what I did and goto an actual male medical clinic. I plan on one day discussing this in a video, but what I did was just that. I found a place that deals only in testosterone related stuff for men and not only did they educate me on what’s happening so I could understand it, but they got me on a regimen that worked. I’m on two shots a week and every 4 weeks they draw my blood to check my levels and adjust my testosterone as needed. For the last few months I was on .6 and .5 with the HCG and estrogen block. That worked out good until this last draw, my test was up 400 points, so they dropped me to .5 and .5 and in 3 weeks we will check it again. This happens to me a lot. They will make the change and probably 3-4 months down the road, this amount will not be sufficient and I’ll be below 1000 again, so they will bump it back up to .6 and .5 and I’ll be good for another couple months, then I’ll spike high again and have to go back down. It seems I just have to constantly chase it. One thing they also made me aware of was the occasional need for split dosing, or taking the shots multiple times a week, vs taking one shot once a week with a large dose. When I get the shot my T level goes up real high, and then I seem to burn it off in just a couple days, not even lasting until the next shot a week later. My day after draws will be 1200 or higher and then my 7 day draws will be 800 or 900. The dips as you said are just terrible, it’s crazy! So split dosing allows to kind of keep the boat afloat constantly instead of bottoming out on day 4 or so and having to deal with a dip on days 4/5/6. I also know the amounts are different for every person so that’s also why I suggested seeing a mens clinic. They have professionals who can run your blood work and give you their opinion on what supplements and the amounts will be the best for you. I hope you find some relief soon, this issue is just crazy, but I can tell you that once you do get it ironed out, it is possible to feel better.

My doc told me that for folks that are slightly low, those things can help, but for guys like me that’s significantly low it won’t help realistically. In response they give me 2 shots of T a week and 2 shots of a drug called HCG a week as well, which tells my body to continue to produce testosterone and not just rely on the T being given by the shot. It worked really well for me actually because my wife and I couldn’t get pregnant at all, because of my testosterone treatment prior, and 4 months ish on the HCG and T, she got pregnant and we had a healthy baby girl last December.
