Why I Always Buy from Quick Performance - Part 2 Ford Differential Assembly. SUPPORT AMERICAN owned companies selling American Made parts for your home built race car!!!
In Part 2 I break down all of the goodies I received from Quick Performance including a Yukon Dura Grip limited slip differential, Motive 3.80 Ring and Pinion, and complete Timken bearing and seal kit for my Ford 8" rear differential.
If you haven't seen Part 1 go back and see the step by step disassembly instructions from my last video here: • DIY How To: Ford 8 and...
Otherwise hang on as I explain how to successfully assembly a Ford 8" (or 9") rear differential including key topics such as: bearing race install, press fits, pinion and carrier bearing pre loads, backlash, how to read a gear mesh pattern, and finally differential break in procedure

I can't say enough good things about quick performance. I have called them 3 times so far, and every. single. time. I got someone who could help me out from beginning to end. No sending me to so and so who is at lunch and half to leave a message. I ordered my differential and axles, and two days later I got an out for delivery notice for the axles. It came 2nd day air which I didn't even request but it was a nice customer service assurance. I paid the extra money for a slight rush job, but the man said it should ship on July 10th. LOVE these guys. Very knowledgeable!

QP was started by one of my oldest and dearest friend's cousin, Doug DeMoss, working from their grandpa's farm near Ames, IA. Sold out of the majority of the company a while back. Fun to see the company work it's way to be a world leader. Super great company to work with since the beginning. Great group of people working there.

What a small world! Yes, I cannot say enough good things about both their prices and customer support. They stand behind their products and go above and beyond to help. I think Motor Trend / Hot Rod did a good job helping getting their name out there and I surely recommend them to my friends when I hear they are rebuilding/buying a rear end. Racers need more companies like QP!!

if the gears are made of same material as factory why would you have to do a break in, you think the factory pre-ran the car before shipping them out, most likely not

My understanding is the break in recommendation is more-so for the bearings than the gears. The tight tolerances I set these bearings up to will generate excessive heat and thats what Quick Performance was trying to avoid. It’s also pretty common practice to break in any meshing metal parts and equipment. Transmissions, clutches, engines, etc. all have break in procedures. I suspect if you read the fine print on a new car they tell you to keep speeds low and vary rpm / driving style for first 500mi. I know the C8 Corvette limits rpm until the break in is complete. Also why risk it?
