What’s up everybody. In todays video, I will be going over the B&W 5” Drop Tow & Stow Hitch. This hitch has a 2.5” shank. It can be ordered with a double or triple ball for various types of towing needs. Overall, this is a fantastic hitch, and the stowaway part is a great feature to eliminate shin injuries.

Great info and video. Just bought a Super Duty F350 . The bottom of the receiver is at 20” vs 17” on my Ram1500 that I traded . Plus the receiver is 2.5 inch so I need something different anyway. Looks like that could work well for me. What about security? Looks like something that could be tempting to steal. I assume locking pins would be prudent?

Do you find the 5" drop hangs pretty low? I'm trying to figure out if I want the 5" or 3" drop on my half tonne. Levelling kit is on the way and bigger tires.

You always want to measure from the ground to the hitch. Preferably you want the receiver to be around 17/18” off the ground. If you add a lift and larger tires, do that first and then measure to determine to correct drop.

I was just looking at this. I am gonna need a new one for my 31' travel trailer. Since my new truck will have that factory air ride and no lift yet.i wont be able to use my 12inch geny drop from my lifted truck. This seems like a nice option till the new truck gets a lift.

What truck do you have and is 5 in enough or maybe 7?

I currently have a 23’ F350 so the hitch sits a little lower compared to my Cummins. However, I am adding a lift kit soon so this hitch may go on my other truck as I’ll need a larger drop.

I am going to pick up my 2024 F-350 KR here pretty soon and already have a Carli 3.5" kit sitting in my garage which will be used in conjunction with 37" tires. If doing this again would you stick with the 5" or would you go with the 7" drop? Unfortunately, do not have the truck to measure from at the morning and it would not take the lift into account yet either, thanks.

I’d recommend going taller if possible such as the 7” over the 5” just in case but it’s best to measure from ground to receiver first to choose the right drop.

I don't know if there is any other solution to the pin and cotter key set up, but on this hitch, I hear that you must be aware that when you put the hitch into the receiver of the truck there are some that allow the pin holes to push the hitch out so far that your can rotate to the stowed position and take it right off. Just worried about a-hole thieves.

I don’t tow that much daily like you but it’s rated for 10,000 with the 2” shank, 14500 with the 2.5” shank, and 21,000 if you got the 3” shank version. It’s definitely a nice hitch and I like that you can flip it out of the way. amzn.to/4b6bgmq

@@DieselLegiance ok yeah I got my yesterday. 2.5 shank 5” drop Its rated for 18k But its to many moving parts. But I will try it for a year or so see how it measures up. However I have not gotten no negative comments on it. Thank you for your information

I don’t need a 3 ball. I’m usually ok with a 2” ball but some people, depending on their towing needs, might prefer a three ball set up so that they can tow three different sizes while keeping one hitch.

I have a triball. Travel trailer is 2 5/16, boat is 2” and my small dump trailer is 1 15/16

I am gonna go on a limb and make the wild claim that maybe because trailers require different ball sizes and some people may tow with 3 different sizes😒

No, as long as you have a bushing sleeve.

Why did you chose 5 inch instead of 3 inch drop?

Because in this truck at the time I was not sure about the lift kit or tire size I would go with and wanted to have some flexibility. Obviously, you want to measure your specific truck on a level area and choose the correct drop for you. I always go a little bigger for flexibility.

Do you have a lift on you truck or anything? I have a 2018 dually just don’t know if the 5” would be enough or if 7” would be too much

I didn’t have a lift on my truck when I did this video. The 5” was fine. The 7” would probably still work but if you towed heavy and weighted down the back and squatted enough, the hitch could possibly hit the ground when turning flat onto an incline?
