This month, I compare my 2023 EQS-580 with a 2024 S-580. I share six items that helped me decide to buy the EQS-580 (quieter ride and less expensive monthly expenses are a given, so not referenced):
6) Larger and easier to access trunk
5) Convenient charging at home
4) HEPA filter cabin air purifier
3) Saving on parts
2) Saving on service
1) Hyperscreen
And I share six items the S-580 has I hope to see some day on the EQS:
6) More sophisticated suspension - "E-active body control"
5) More comfortable seats
4) Soft-closing doors
3) Side and rear window shades built-in
2) Longer range, faster refueling
1) Passenger entry comfort
Special thanks to Mercedes-Benz of Fayetteville for taking care of my cars and making me feel valued since 2016 - and allowing me to test drive a 2024 S-580 so I can make this comparison.

I saw the EQS in black at the dealer's, it looked really awesome, far better than this silvery-gray-whitish color.

@@anastassiosperakis2869 the colors - and design of the cars - look better in person. That said, everyone had their own preferred color - my S550 was black, but now that I have owned this one, I prefer the silver.

Another fantastic video! Thank you. As for the rear seats, I believe they announced that the 2025 eqs now has changed to the "comfort seats" with the extra padding like the S class. Looking forward to it! Great video!

Interested in buying an eqs. Really need the range so will wait for 2025 version. Would be very interested if you could do a range or consumption test at 20k miles to see how much it degraded.

I got the suv, my biggest issue after first 1000km is the estimated range is always wrong and the reality is much less despite getting 4 to 5 stars in eco mode

The estimated range is basically based on you going 45-60 and not stopping. It at least gives you an idea of how much range you have left

Thanks for the comparison! How about tire wear on your EQS? Other owners talk about a significant difference between EV’s and ICE cars.

The EQS is heavier, so I expect the tires will wear out faster. It's just physics. That said, driving styles, road conditions, individual tire construction and weather all play into how long tires laser as well. I am preparing to get a new set of tires at 20,000 miles for my EQS-580, where I might expect tires to last 25-30,000 on an S-580.

Is yours a 2022 model? The first ones made had the door features I wanted. The chip shortage made them stop including some of the original features. If you have a 2023-2024 model, it may be something special for your region.

@@marksmith6276 very observant of you! That is the Chandrila Star Lines (CSL) logo. CSL is the frictional company that ran the Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser 2-day immersive experience at Walt Disney World in Florida. The experience was incredible and the logo helps me remember our voyages.

Excellent comparison. Does S-580 have rear wheel steering like its electric equivalent? Turning radius in EQS with rear wheel steering is outstanding. One other item EQS is missing is the MB hood ornament, although I heard next year’s model will add it. Sadly, the next model will add a FAKE grill which EVs don’t need. I hate anything fake. I wish MB would remove the start-stop button and offer walk-away locking like other EVs.

Yes, the rear wheel steering is the same. I'd like the front grill I have (with the large star replaced by rows of the smaller stars and the traditional hood star.

@@EQS-Owner As you probably know, next year's model will replace the front with a gas engine grill and MB hood ornament like their ICE vehicles. I dont mind the hood ornament, but hate imitation grills. MB marketing claims buyers want EQS to look like a traditional gas Mercedes.

Eating while you are charging is a TERRIBLE idea. You look like over the 17k miles you put on 20 lbs. If not true, you are not paying attention to your doctor.

@@patrickamponsah679 EQS is one the of ugliest cars on the road, even MB is changing it because so many people dont want such a ugly car noo matter how aero efficient it is.
