I ordered my Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 in March 2022. The system was backed up, but Mercedes-Benz of Fayetteville (NC) found a factory-created one that was very similar to my order and set it aside for me. As I waited, I joined a couple EQS Facebook groups, where owners were exchanging experiences and sharing helpful advice. I looked on RU-vid and found plenty of reviews (my favorite two are linked below - Doug Demuro and Carwow) and one owner who shared the statistics of his use, but no user tips or long-term opinions. I finally received my EQS in November 2022. This channel is intended to help those considering buying an EQS - or any EV - with real life experiences and short helpful tips answering questions people have asked in the EQS-associated Facebook groups.
Hi, I was interested in your views on the 450+. Thanks for spending the time. I spotted one comment about charging the car on low cost energy at home. This is catered for in the Charging Pauses option (EQ menu) this allows you to plug the charger into the car and the car sits there until the low cost energy is available then charges
@@nigelwilliams8792 1) the 450+ is perfect for most people (I cannot recommend the hyperscreen enough if you go this route). For me, with as much as the EQS costs, I had to get ever comfort possible, which left the 580 as the only choice for me. 2) Duke Energy does not have time-based prices, so I do not have to pause charging. For most others, the pause feature is perfect.
Anyone know if the grill and hoodstar from the 25’s are interchangeable on 23/24’s? Love the elegant look of the hoodstar and want to add it on my 2023
Hi!!! We are trying to find out how to set up charging so we put the charger on the car before going to bed, but it doesn’t start charging until 12 AM to 3 AM during the low cost hours for power. Is that something you have to set up on the Mercedes me app? Is there a way to immediately charge once we put the charger?
If neither your car nor your in-home charger have a charging time set up, it should sync immediately and start charging in about a minute. The app allows for pauses in charging, so check to make sure that is not enabled. Also, your charger may also have a time established to charge, so check that app out as well. I am confident it is one of those two things. Otherwise, I see no reason for the delay. Turn off your pre-entry departure time as well - that has paused charging for me.
Actually, Mercedes makes high quality vehicles that only need maintenance once a year (every two years for the EQS). They are also very reliable and, while service is more expensive per visit, require far fewer service visits than other manufacturers.
1) Buy when you want the car. The 2024 models have some improvements over my 2023, and the 2025 models will have even more improvements (see my comparison here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T8iq3yIy6sU.htmlsi=WWpJE6JQb2C_ylkV) 2) The Electric Vehicle market is going through a soft sales period and depreciation is massive right now. Leasing is a good option, or buy with long term ownership in mind.
That is a very practical approach. Anyone buying a new product, whether it is the first iPhone or the EQS, knows they may have issues that later adopters will not have. That sense of uncertainty was part of my reason to make these videos - to share all of my experiences, good or bad, with others.
i almost got an EQS - so glad i didn't. it's ugly AF and a total garbage car. i got an s-class instead. also a shitty car. loaded with problems. all the touch screens are stupid - esp the touch sensitive buttons on the steering wheel. nothing is tactile. the seat buttons don't move when you push them, so your fingers get hurt. i hate this car. $150k down the toilet
I heard that Mercedes electric models sales are going down. They are bringing back combustion engine cars back by eliminating electric cars. BMW is considering hydrogen cars to produce in 2030 do you think it is worth buying electric cars. Also I heard people using electric cars are getting headache & becoming tired after short distance. What do you think can you reply.
The sales for their electric vehicles has not kept up with their expectations. They are only delaying their plans to phase out the gas cars, but the electric ones are still their long term plan.
I have not heard about EV drivers getting headaches or getting tired. I actually feel more rested after driving my EQS because the ride is so smooth and the car does most of the driving on longer trips.
if you drive the EQS in sport mode, you could get sick by rapid acceleration and breaking, but this applies to any car with high torque. I have the smaller engine EQS 350 and I prefer ECO mode for smoother (but slower) acceleration. I never get headache or get tired and I do long distances, 16000km in 6 months, if I get tired, I would just tell the car and I get a nice massage :)
@@EQS-Owner I agree with you completely. It's a really relaxing and comfortable driving experience in the EQS, whether I'm driving locally or on a 1200 mile road trip.
Love it! Keep it coming! On my EQS 450+ SUV I had an update with new user interface goodies. Did you get any? Likely we wont see them until 4th of July or maybe Halloween. I am very curious, have you started exploring options for buying the car at lease end? As in - a reputable car loan company or will you buy it in cash?
I have not received the interface goodies update you referenced yet; I always enjoy the graphic goodies. I chose not to lease this car. If I had, I would go through my credit union, which has always provided me with the best interest rates and financing options, to make the post-lease purchase.
I found that intelligent recuperation is the best for me. It's pretty much one pedal driving as long as there's a car in front of you. It will stop just behind great stop and go traffic that in conjunction with the cruise control you don't have to touch either paddle.
You’ve saved at the pumps and servicing but when you factor in the depreciation and insurance compared to an ICE car I expect you have taken a fairly big hit to your wallet.
My insurance is about the same as it was when I had an ICE S-550. Depreciation is more dramatic with the EQS right now, but I could have leased the car if that was my focus. No, I am keeping this car for a long time and it will have paid for the difference by then. Even if it doesn't, I bought the EQS-580 for my enjoyment and I am content with the ownership experience.
Right now, EVs are depreciating significantly faster than gas cars. I suspect the lacking infrastructure is the primary reason behind this. In a few years, the roles may reverse but, right now, buying an EV means you will lose a lot to depreciation. May be better to lease, or just plan on keeping it longer. That's the route I am now taking.
Love your videos and enthusiasm. Purchased the 2024 EQS 450 4matic amg line this week and it's so stunning. 😊 I also love the current grill better than whats coming in 2025. They probably listened to much to people in RU-vid comments. 😅
There is a bit of a difference. The stronger the recuperation is set: 1) the faster you slow down; and 2) the more energy you put back into the batteries. From my experience, the differences in how fast it slows the car is dramatically different. However, I have not noticed any extended range from using the recuperation. Based on how recuperation is designed, I am sure there is some benefit for the range, I just have not noticed any changes.
I have been waiting delivery of my EQE 2024 since March. It has already been built and awaiting shipping. How is it taking so long for Mercedes Germany to ship the vehicle to North America?
Interested in buying an eqs. Really need the range so will wait for 2025 version. Would be very interested if you could do a range or consumption test at 20k miles to see how much it degraded.
Hello, I saw that your content quality and Thumbnail is also good. But, your channel is not Growing. Then, I analyzed and I saw that in your channel have some problems. That's why your channel is not growing. Mainly, you are not reaching to your targeted peoples, If you can solve these problems your channel will grow like a storm. Can I tell these problems? Can I tell here? Are you allow?
Is yours a 2022 model? The first ones made had the door features I wanted. The chip shortage made them stop including some of the original features. If you have a 2023-2024 model, it may be something special for your region.
I got the suv, my biggest issue after first 1000km is the estimated range is always wrong and the reality is much less despite getting 4 to 5 stars in eco mode
The EQS is heavier, so I expect the tires will wear out faster. It's just physics. That said, driving styles, road conditions, individual tire construction and weather all play into how long tires laser as well. I am preparing to get a new set of tires at 20,000 miles for my EQS-580, where I might expect tires to last 25-30,000 on an S-580.
Excellent comparison. Does S-580 have rear wheel steering like its electric equivalent? Turning radius in EQS with rear wheel steering is outstanding. One other item EQS is missing is the MB hood ornament, although I heard next year’s model will add it. Sadly, the next model will add a FAKE grill which EVs don’t need. I hate anything fake. I wish MB would remove the start-stop button and offer walk-away locking like other EVs.
Yes, the rear wheel steering is the same. I'd like the front grill I have (with the large star replaced by rows of the smaller stars and the traditional hood star.
@@EQS-Owner As you probably know, next year's model will replace the front with a gas engine grill and MB hood ornament like their ICE vehicles. I dont mind the hood ornament, but hate imitation grills. MB marketing claims buyers want EQS to look like a traditional gas Mercedes.
Another fantastic video! Thank you. As for the rear seats, I believe they announced that the 2025 eqs now has changed to the "comfort seats" with the extra padding like the S class. Looking forward to it! Great video!
Did you know, outside NA to enable cruise control you just hit the set button and you don’t have to hit on/off button every time. Would be nice to get the feature here. Also with E316 software stop and go used to wait 30 seconds opposed to 15seconds timeout on auto resume. Why was it changed?
That's a good idea. I'll cover the topic, but actually numbers vary depending on the options and down payment. I have a good idea how to make it easy to understand the various payments.
May do this for next month's update, but there are a ton of variables. Therefore, I would need to explain them and that might not work well. For now, the MB website should let you play with down payments, lease cs loan, and length of lease/loan to get an idea about monthly payments.
