Doug: I have a 2022 EQS 450. I had it for 15 months and this weekend I reached 40,000 miles exactly. In 40,000 I have saved around $8,500 in gas alone. Zero problems, Zero cost in charging since Mercedes gives 2 yrs free charging plus I have electrical panels and charging station at home. I took it to the dealer for the typical 20,000 miles services which is very little maintenance. They replaced the brake fluid, windshield wiper, HEPA filter and diagnostic. That’s it. I highly recommend the EQS Sedan to anyone. We like it so much we ordered the 2024 EQS 580 SUV

How much was the 20,000 service and when did you replace the tires? You are ahead of me and I am curious.

The 20,000 mile service is already included when you buy the car. They replaced the windshield wiper, change brake fluid and changed the HEPA filter plus the full diagnostic. Also, they wash the car and charged it while I was at work. They gave me loaner S Class 560. Excellent service from Mercedes

I replaced the 4 tires at 30,000 miles. I bought the Pirelli for EV. They are rated for 50,000 miles

Thanks for this comment. I recently purchased a 2023 certified pre-owned EQS 450+ and the reviews have been so confusing. One of the things that folks have complained about the most is premature tire and brake wear. But, I see you stated your tires were replaced at 30k, which sounds reasonable.

I absolutely agree with you on the brake pedal feel - so many EQS reviewers brought this up as a huge issue. I've been an owner of a '22 EQS for 1.5 years now and this has never bothered me a tiniest bit. I actually really like how accurately you can apply the brake to produce the right amount of recuperation - you only need the actual brakes for emergency braking and to keep the car stationary. The only thing I had to get used to - when need to brake hard - you really have to get into it - the car is so heavy - you need to apply good brake pressure to stop it quickly. But that said - when you get on it hard - the car stops super quick - those huge rotors plus the regen have massive stopping power. Great video, thanks - I haven't driven my car in a cold yet (California).

Excellent video, Doug. Remember the first rule of news: if it bleeds, it reads ! All the nay sayers for EVs came out to condemn them when there were problems in the cold. ICE vehicles also have problems in the cold. The OOS Team nailed it on causes: operators not preconditioning or understanding preconditioning time needed; operators waiting too long before charging and inability to charge at home/office; defective chargers not repaired by vendors; too much free charging from manufacturers; and too many people charging to 100%. I would like free charging limited to 30 minutes per calendar day.

I ordered a 2024 EQS SUV a couple of weeks ago. It is scheduled to be built in late March. Your videos have been incredibly helpful for me in understanding the EQS. I'm used to MBUX from my current ICE Mercedes AMG SUV, but there are many differences in the latest MBUX version. Thank you for doing all of these videos!

That 'brake pedal' thing is to turn on the brake lights, when the car is slowing down.

Does it still cause wear on brake pads and rotors?
@johnpoldo8817
@johnpoldo8817 4 месяца назад
@@ernestdavis I love regen becasue it saves the brake pads and rotors. They should last for 100K miles and much earlier than that I'll have a new car.

Agreed as in my current model y, but in this If the brake pedal presses down, does it activate brakes or rotors in this car?
@johnpoldo8817
@johnpoldo8817 5 месяцев назад
Doug, you touch on a puzzling fact. Why does the brake pedal recess while switching to max recuperation? Does recuperation ever apply the brake, wasting energy? It is fascinating how Intelligent Recuperation uses radar to slow you down when approaching a stopped vehicle at a light or stop sign.
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 5 месяцев назад
Recuperation uses the same system for all variations. For all 2022-2023 models, the pedal goes down during regeneration - it is just more noticeable in "Strong."
@ernestdavis
@ernestdavis 4 месяца назад
@EQS-Owner does it cause brake and rotor wear and tear?
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 4 месяца назад
@@ernestdavis as far as I know, it is just the opposite. Recuperation uses the motor to slow the car, thus saving wear on the brakes and returning some energy back to the battery

Hey Doug, could you dedicate a video to the front passenger screen please? I mean how practical is it for the passenger to either watch TV or movies from the phone while on the move? Many thanks
@EQS-Owner
@EQS-Owner 5 месяцев назад
I'll put something together - never really had a passenger use the screen for much more than the map, so it will be a good learning tool for me as well.

Hi there can you charge at Tesla superchargers yet?

Only a few of them are compatible and there are none near me. So, haven't tried it yet. I have seen videos of other non-Tesla cars using the Superchargers

Dumb people saying how they saved 3K, after over paying 30K!
@EQS-Owner

No, the EQS is the same price as the S-Class. It's just a question of getting the gas or electric version.
@tonyb3629

I always find it amusing when you spend THAT MUCH money on a car (and the EQS is extremely expensive), probably have paid for a 240v home charger and then feel 'happy' about saving a bit of money in fuel costs? You could drive that car for for 10 years (if it lasts that long) and still not have re-couped the money you've spent on that EV. It's all reverse logic, but when you spend all that money, EV owners especially have to try and convince themselves they're saving money somehow. Oh, and a 108KWh battery is obscene - all those raw materials, energy and weight in ONE battery. Anything over 70kWh in a standard car should be banned - it sums up everything wrong with EV's.

Do you even know how much the S-class cost? What saving do you think he’ll be doing by buying the ICE version 😂😂😂
