Thank you, Keith! Glad to know you. I live in Denmark, Europe. In December I bought a 13 months old EQS 450+ with 25.500 kilometers on it. The model with maximum range and 19" wheels (my choise), but Premium Plus trim level (highest of the 4 levels in Europe). Also silver. I use the car in my work and have driven some 27.000 kilometers so far (just about 17.000 miles) in the 2 months I have owned it. Paid 70.990 Euro, about 76.500 USD. So the car has a large depreciation the first year. But when it is 13 months old, only 11 months warranty left instead of the standard 24 months on a new car. So far no problems. I think I have watched all of your videos on the EQS and you helped me decide that the EQS was the better choise despite the fact it was more expensive than the alternatives. So far I believe it has the biggest battery you can get in a passenger car, and therefore the largest range. And I need the range. Thank you for your informative videos! Carsten, thank you for your response - and sharing your experiences with us! I agree with all your observations. Funny story - when I bought mine, they were so rare dealerships were buying them back for more than people paid for them new.
These videos a great insight into the ownership of the EQS. Mercedes’ really seems to have nailed their EV compared to what I see about Tesla’s and their poor build quality. Would love to buy one of these in the future!
I would say 2026 or after would be the optimal time - they would have worked out the problems, come out with a battery with significantly longer range and will likely be on their next body design
on occasion I get an icon on my dash which is a triangle with a stick figure of a man in the middle. Does anyone know what this is, because no-one at Mercedes Oakville Canada does? Great videos !
You probably get that when you are driving slowly. That is your car telling you it is watching for pedestrians. The icon shows up on the right side of the driver's display
Right now, EVs are depreciating significantly faster than gas cars. I suspect the lacking infrastructure is the primary reason behind this. In a few years, the roles may reverse but, right now, buying an EV means you will lose a lot to depreciation. May be better to lease, or just plan on keeping it longer. That's the route I am now taking.
Keith, can you tell us what file format you used for the movies on the USB stick to ensure they can play in the car? Was there any special technique you used to put the movie on the stick? The EQS I ordered has a dashcam and I need to use a USB drive to record video from the dashcam. I wonder if I can use the same USB drive for both.
I think I used .mp4 for the video, but will have to get back to you in a few days. I discovered some dashcam videos on my movie USB after making this video, so the answer to your second question is definitely yes.
