Why I dislike Serena(Update) 

Good news ! Liko's parents are not Ash and Serena ! RIP ARMOURSHIPPERS ! This shipping has been dethroned ! RIP Ash and Serena ! Woo

I don’t hate Serena but I find her to be overrated because her character felt forced by the writter, being written as a love interest to Ash coming out nowhere. Her knowing Ash from childhood is a redcon, and when a character is written to be a love interest from the start, there wont be much room for complex character growth added into her character. It’s not just nostalgia I promised, but I prefer Ash’s relationship with Misty more. Misty was not written to be Ash’s love interest, and their first meeting was a hot mess. They didn’t have the best chemistry at first (man that guy fried her overpriced cerulean bike), but they developed their friendship throughout the show. Misty also started to develop genuine care for Ash as a friend, and more than a friend after. Love that sparks from friendship will always have more depth and meaning, than someone who admires a person from the get-go, because without the motivation of romantic feelings, Misty developed a pure genuine platonic care and love from Ash. So there’s more depth when I see her relationship with Ash, and how they changed each other for the better, and how Ash contributed in Misty becoming a competent gym leader.

Bad news: Serena came back. Good news: Her return offered literally nothing in regards to AshNoticeMeShipping. Hopefully, she has gotten over Ash by now, thus sinking AshNoticeMeShipping.

Every pokegirl except serena had a positive message Misty- if your unhappy in you current situation nothing wrong with leaving for a bit just remember there are people who love you May- your passion can be found in unexpected places just remember to be humble Dawn- there's no shame in failure make it your teacher Iris- sometimes the road less traveled is the one for you be true to yourself Lillie- courage isn't about being fearless but doing what your afraid to do Serena- if you lose to someone it means you need to be more like them? Seriously what kind of message is that

so many pokemon fans overhype her as the most developed and best pokegirl and even pokemon character when there’s clearly other amazing developed characters! dawn, may, lillie, iris (if you’ve watched pokemon journeys you will get why) and misty, all these characters are so well developed yet people choose serena as the most developed. serena’s development is basically may’s arc but feels a lot more reliant on the crush aspect rather than her as her own character. heck before serena leaves, in the japanese version she literally says that when they meet again she’ll be a more attractive woman- like what 😀. pokemon they are 10. if you think i’m making this up, go watch the final episode of xy in japanese. she’s a well written character don’t get me wrong but compared to a lot of the other pokegirls she’s a literal may2.0 with dawn’s quirks, iris’ hair (before she cuts it) and misty’s crush on ash. amourshipping did develop serena yes but what about ash? he hasn’t really changed after meeting serena. misty influenced ash to not be so cocky all the time and supported him and tried to cheer him up when he was down, not by throwing snowballs at him *ahem serena*. may made ash more of a mentor now since may was the new newbie and helped him to keep his ego down. dawn was an equal to ash who complimented him, helped him create strategies and was way more supportive in gym battles. ash may not have gotten this far without some of dawn’s contests moves 🤷‍♀️. iris yes may have bullied ash but her alongside cilan helped ash strategise during unova and when she came back in journeys she helped ash develop him as a battler and his pokemon. all the other pokegirls left way more of an impact on ash than serena and keep in mind half of them are more on the friends side than the romantic side that people view amourshipping as. this shows how one sided it feels and how so many amourshippers are forcing us to like a ship when we know in real life it just wouldn’t work out. i 100% agree about dawn and ash because atleast that doesn’t feel forced or one sided, platonic and romantic wise. but we know it won’t happen because the literal creator of pokemon ships serena and ash 🤦‍♀️. in conclusion i 100% agree with this video even if you yourself might not anymore and i hope the more toxic fans will take a moment to stop and smell the flowers. edit 1: damn i love writing a lot wow lmao edit 2: if anyone says ‘what about when serena had an argument with ash? didn’t ash develop after that moment?’ here’s the thing though. ash needed time by himself to reflect upon his losses. i understand that serena was only trying to help and she went through the same thing he did which is one reason why i don’t think ash developed after that. everyone let serena have her own time after she lost her first debut yet when ash loses serena just bothers him? and the fact that the writers portray her in the right made it feel hella forced cuz realistically that whole scene only shows how serena likes ash for his upbeat attitude and happy side rather than all of him. past companions like brock, misty, may and dawn all liked ash even after seeing him at his lowest. serena only likes the idea of ash which shows a lot more of the forced side of amourshipping.

Me when I saw xy series: so their is a kid like max. She would be the most annoying thing in this series. Actually sees the series: lol that girl wasn't the worst part of this series. It is Serena. No the worst character written in entire pokemon anime

I will never understand that some people really thought that Serena was gonna remain a main character in a show in where all the female characters (Besides Jessie) got replaced every new gen.

I firmly believe that pokemon doesn't have a room for romance, at least between literal kids/teens, even if they're old enough to go on a journey. Cutting off hair was so stuрid!! Like girl, both May and Dawn lost their 1st competitions, they were sad and cried, yes, but they moved on to become better. If I were to choose my least favorite moment with Serena - it's her throwing a tantrum and snowballs at Ash after he was sad bc he lost to Wulfric. Girl, he can't be happy and upbeat all the time, just give him time. No one did that when you were crying after losing your 1st performance or after you blew up at your pokemon!! Serena simply exists for shipping, she's so bland.. Even her team is a stereotypically cute baby doll type, like who's surprised she got a rare female Eevee who evolved into Sylveon? Nobody.

Note: this is my opinion, don't even bother to change it. I don't really see her development. She's just the same except that she cut her hair and became a performer(?) There is this one episode that makes me dislike Serena both as a person and as a character.It was that one episode where she had an argument with Ash. Does she thinks that Ash should just be positive and cheerful all the time?Yes,I know she is 10 years old but seeing other Poketubers saying that she helps Ash through his bad times(when she clearly didn't) just pissed me off.Also She reminds of Hinata from Naruto which is another character that i severely dislike(please don't hate me for this).

I don't like Serena to be honest

I would have really appreciated her character if it was written with serious determination and was destined for something other than simping over Ash. I want to like her so bad but I couldn’t do it. I just don’t happen. I want to love her character but she’s so useless. I can’t help it.

Also, in journeys When Serena ppears she only appears on 30 seconds, which one of them ash passes like a skyrocket By her and ignores her, and People still say that amourshpping is canon? They only live in 2016 thats for sure.....

I've said it once, and I'll say it again: She's literally a worse version of Yvonne "Y" Gabena from Pokémon Adventures. Or to probably put it in another way, Y is basically what happens when the concept that went into Anime Serena's creation is placed in the hands of a COMPETENT writer. (More than competent in Kusaka's case, but I digress.) Everything that went wrong with Anime Serena went so right with Y, that the difference is night and day. Some may argue that the differences in writing are so stark, that it's unfair to compare Y to Anime Serena, with their personalities being one of those differences. But then again, we're talking about a traveling companion who both stars in the one arc of the Pokémon Anime that has the worst domestic airwave ratings, and gets even less of a character arc throughout an entire AniPoké arc than Marina from Pokémon Chronicles gets in ONE EPISODE. So...

I like like its unfair to say her team sucks, yeah its only three, yeah ones unevolved, since braixen is now a Delphox in journeys, i feel its infair to say the team sucks cause, being honest, it isnt really competitive based, shes a performer, which isnt a very battle heavy kind of job in the pokemon world, which also makes sense why she wouldnt evolve panchum, since cuteness is a factor if i remember correctly.
