I keep explaining to LGBTQ+ supporters point #1. I keep telling them that homophobia is a hatred of gay people and that Christians aren't homophobic or hateful towards gay people for simply not agreeing and supporting their lifestyle choices. They just don't listen even if you give definitions and logic. A phobia is a hatred and fear of someone or something. If anything, I've met way more LGBTQ+ supporters who are christphobic than Christians who are homophobic.

The term 'phobia' is from the Greek Language. I considered this for a while, but I think that the use of phobia implies fear-mongering, as if to speak negatively about them is meant to cause fear. These terms don't seem comparable to a psychological phobia such as arachnophobia.

Fear isn't necessarily related to the threat of physical harm. Look through history in just America and you'll see at times there was an effort made to make people afraid of different immigrant groups.

I don't know what Trent's perspective is on the trolley problem, but I heard a Catholic philosophy professor speak about it once. Basically, she said that she would do everything in her power to rescue the 5 people on the track but could not throw the switch to save them (but killing the 1 man). Why? The problem with this logic is the suicide risk almost entirely comes from the lack of acceptance and discrimination of transgender individuals, not from the transgenderism itself. This is exemplified by areas in which trans people are more accepted the suicide risk is MUCH lower. Trans people would not nearly have the amount of mental problems they have now if they were simply accepted from the start.

@@abaddon2148 The problem with this reasoning is that it places impractical demands on the entire rest of the world. With what other delusion or body dysmorphia is everyone else supposed to affirm the anomalous belief? It's madness. The point stands. If a person is actually suicidal, the correct course of action is to provide intrusive care to prevent self-harm, not to use the person as political leverage or to expect everyone else to affirm what they cannot affirm. If there is active, malicious bullying going on, that should absolutely be stopped. But if a man is going to kill himself because not enough people are willing to call him a woman, the answer is not to demand that more people call him a woman.
