Just to let everyone know that since filming this video (which was filmed 3 weeks ago) I’ve had a really bad allergic reaction to a vitamin c moisturiser that I was testing out for you all. Although all the info in this video is still true, I’m still not cleansing my face in the mornings and I’m still seeing excellent results, Unfortunately I am still unable to use vitamin C on my skin. After splashing my face with water in the morning I apply my normal morning skincare. My evening routine has not changed xxx

So sorry to hear that, hope all is well now. I have reacted badly to a vitamin C product too, one of my sons thought I have done 12 rounds in a boxing ring I was that badly swollen 😅 it’s a shame as it has great benefits usually- but not for me, never again!

I have dry skin that can get Extremely dry if I’m not diligent with my routine. I’ve also had amazing results just rinsing my face with cool water in the morning :) Vitamin C has always given me problems ...I have tried so many from all price point and keep having reaction issues, mainly rashes &/or teeny tiny little pustule blister/bumps. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin and can handle additives and treatments just fine ....it’s just the VitC that gives me ALL the issues...lol

I am 73 yrs old with pretty normal to slightly combo skin and I haven't use cleanser on my face in the morning for at least five decades. I will splash my face with water in the morning as I find it refreshing and enlivening but I don't rub hard and I pat it dry gently. I think a lot of the "routines" that are preached by cosmetic companies have more to do with selling us more stuff than anything. I think if we invested more time and money in good nutrition and exercise we would be better served. I enjoy your videos Gemma! Thanks

I have very sensitive reactive skin-I haven't cleansed my skin in the morning for decades as I've always felt I would be striping away the protective barrier produced during the night. Having eczema all of my life I have always skipped using a cleanser in the morning. Just water and sometimes a flannel if I've used a really occlusive moisturiser the night before. I did experiment with cleansing in the morning a couple of years ago just to see if it made any difference. Big mistake and it destroyed my skin barrier. I have the most basic routine ever, cleanse once a day and my skin is healthy and happy. Really refreshing to hear so many people do the same as always felt like the odd one out!

I used simply clean foaming cleanser fron skinceuticals, it says gentle... and i have paulas choice cleanser cream for dry sentiive skin. Also I use after this at night a hyalyron serum and a niacinmaide lotion. It doesnt feel really moisturizing all together... Does anybody has some advice for me?

I love this video Gemma! At almost 50, I found washing my face morning and night too much as my skin has become drier as I have gotten older. I double cleanse in the evening and moisturize really well before bed. When I wake up my skin feels wonderfully soft, all the pampering I have done to my skin the night before has absorbed leaving my skin feeling healthy with just the right amount of moisture still on the skin. I splash my face with water, pat dry and apply my skin care and my skin really is thanking me for it. People ask me what I am using on my skin now, and honestly I'm just washing my face less. It has made such a difference to my skin.

I actually didn't use almost anything on my face unless I was wearing make up, obviously I cleaned that off, but for 34 years I basically washed my face only with tap water and everybody was always telling me how good my skin is. It was only this year around April I decided that Im old enough to have some proper skincare and I started using cleansers and moisterizers which was quite alright in the beginning, but now I notice more breakouts and none of those products seemed to improve anything, so I definitely agree that too much skincare is not beneficial at all

I haven’t cleansed my face in the morning for close to 30 years. After reading an article about this subject I began to rinse my face with water only. However I do double-cleanse every night (I wear foundation daily). I’m now in my early 60s and have never suffered from acne but have always had significant sensitivity issues if I’m not very careful with the products I use. I’ve had to make subtle changes over the years - skincare & makeup are both an ongoing learning curve but the morning rinsing & evening cleansing routine hasn’t changed. I thoroughly enjoy the information/comments on “Pampered Wolf”. Great tutorials - they’re really helpful. Thanks lots. 🤩

I’ve never cleansed my skin in the morning, I take a shower, water in the face... then get out and put on: the Ordinary buffet, the ordinary Niacinimide , cerave moisturizer.. then makeup. At night I only “cleanse” with micellar water. My skin looks beautiful. I feel hydrated and my pores are clear. I am behind this %100, for myself personally. I started cleansing my face only at night when I turned 31 (I'm 38 now) and I've had excellent results. My reasoning was, I put helpful ingredients on at night, I don't want to wash them off in the morning. I also began rotating my treatments with the idea that I would be concentrating on really sealing in one or two actives at a time, instead of diluting with several. (At least, that's the way it worked in my head, lol). If I have excess oil in the morning, I just blot with a tissue and go on with my best skin since I was a kid!

Yes, yes and yes again. I've not washed my face in the morning for a couple of years. I'd read that a certain model (I forget her name) stated that, because she had dry skin, she didn't wash her face in the morning. Needless to say, I had to try it because I too have dry skin. The results were just the same as yours. The tight, dry feeling disappeared and (I felt) my skin became more 'supple'. I don't even rinse my face either! I just apply Vit C with my cold jade roller and I'm awake, 😂 then continue with the rest of my skincare. I don't feel dirty or yucky. I'm delighted my skin responded so well to doing this AND my cleansing products last longer - just a bonus. I'm so happy that this "technique" is working so well for you. 💗💖💗

One from Skinceuticals, Simply Clean. I like the feel of a foaming cleanser the most since with milk cleansers I feel there is something left on the skin or you have to really use a lot of water to remove them. But not sure if foaming cleansers are harsh. :) I feel a lot of times that the skin under my eyes burn a bit and feels tight and dry around the eyes. @chrissymoss514 3 года назад
@@user-gc3rv6jw3n Cleansers are an absolute necessity. I don't know what skin type you are but I'm hoping you have cleansers that are suitable and work with your skin. Only very harsh cleansers (those that strip your face and cause your skin to feel tight, dry and itchy) can have a negative impact on your skin barrier. Generally cleansers are gentle. The skin barrier suffers most when exfoliation and/or retinols are used carelessly. Again, it depends on your skin type AND it's tolerances. Water alone will not cleanse your skin. Even if you don't wear makeup or sunscreen (I pray you use sunscreen every day 🙏), water will not remove the pollutants and bacteria that is on your skin. Everyone has the same pollutants and bacteria - and it must be washed off. Do you double cleanse? What skincare do you use after cleansing? What skin type are you? Do you have any problem areas?

I always enjoy your videos! I agree with you to a certain extent. I do think over cleansing can disrupt the ph balance and damage the moisture barrier, but for me the key is to study and listen to my skin. I do both...sometimes skip AM cleanse and sometimes use a super mild cleanser. It just depends on my skin...I tend to skip AM cleanse more in the winter than the summer due to skin being more dry and in the summer tend to sweat a little more..even at night. But in general, I agree...we need to allow our skin to do its job and sometimes less is more. Thanks for another great video on an interesting topic. 😘❤️

I actually noticed an improvement washing my face twice a day. my skin is a lot smoother. when I did once a day my skin was a little flakey or dry. I wash twice a day and moisturize twice a day. I use the same cleanser twice a day and two different moisturizers, a total of three products for now smooth skin. My skin use to be very dry and now its not, my makeup goes on nice too without flakes. It took 2 weeks to notice results, at first I was tight and then eventually my skin was no longer tight and it feels comfortable. I use products by vanicream, Nivea, and Olay. I don't exfoliate anymore because cleansing gently twice a day is enough, I actually stopped using Cetaphil gentle cleanser too which I thought was amazing but little did I know it wasn't cleansing properly, so that was also part of my problem why I was always flakey, so the cleanser you chose matters! I'm not saying once a day washing is bad, it's good for sensitive skin and I had no issues with it when I did it for years, but my skin was always a little dry or flakey. My makeup was flakey too. I guess some people need to wash their face twice a day.

Hi Gemma loved your video. I stopped cleansing in the morning about 12 months ago after a recommendation from a lady in Australia. She also had concerns about the harsh stripping on the skins surface again in the morning after your double cleanse on an evening. I have found that a light toner in the morning swept over the skin, freshens it up but you keep the plumpness and the lovely skincare that you put on your skin the night before. My skin is a lot more well balanced, I rarely have any blemishes and I believe it is due to the restoration of the balance. Would definitely recommend the light wash of toner, Liz Earl is very gentle and still the double cleanse on an evening. Hope all well with you, take care Lisa 🌈

I'm 63 with very dry skin, I thoroughly cleanse my face and neck at night, then follow with product. I'd never wash away the products in the am. My skin looks great when I wake up and that's my base for applying make-up for the day. This has always worked for my dry skin especially in colder weather. Keep at it, it really helps your skin look moist especially after you go through menopause.

I definitely find that my dry skin starts freaking out when I do too much with it. There's no way I can wash my face twice a day; it gets really red, even more dry in some spots, and breakouts form in other spots because it's like I'm overproducing oil to make up for the fact that I've stripped my face. I find on days when I can't even be bothered to do anything, my face looks great. If I wear makeup, I'll definitely wash my face, but if I'm not, I may go a day or two without doing it. It always ends up looking so much nicer. 🤷

I have sensitive skin and I find that using water and a Halo cloth is so much better. Maybe once a week or every 10 days I use a very fine exfoliant. Since doing this my skincare has been more successful for me and I have had less reactions, redness etc. Highly recommend. I’m 49, I have dry to normal skin and am peri-menopausal. At night I use an eye cream, The Ordinary “Buffet” serum and then the Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre. I find it’s great for providing moisture without the heaviness. If I’m feeling a bit on the dry side I finish with the Skin Juice “Green Juice Skin Balm”. So good.

I’ve noticed at 68 yrs old, the more I do with products, the worse my fragile sensitive skin becomes especially just recently. Also high perfumed shampoos cause a forehead rash and breakouts. Seems so many shampoos are loaded with heavy perfumes, they make my scalp itch terribly and cause breakouts/rashes on forehead and cheeks ! Will do the mild cleansing at night and lukewarm cleansing , water only in a.m. ps: for breakouts, pimples, I found what really helps is a q-tip dipped into pure calamine lotion extremely helpful to soothe and dry up the pimple. You’re so helpful , 🙏👏🏻

Hi everyone, I must say I did hear about not cleansing the skin with products/ cleansers in the mornings ( just use warm water) in the past- but as a person with combination/oily skin type I thought it wouldn’t work for me. Having said that, I do feel like I should give it ago now that I’m in my 40’s and the production of sebum has decreased slightly. I use a cleansing balm at night and miracle water from It Cosmatics in the evenings so I try not to strip my skin too much at the end of the day too. Thank you for another great video. Definitely feel inspired xx

I've had to be careful with my skin for years, because it is very sensitive and is extremely dry in winter. Since 1996, I've used Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish on a night time, followed by her instant boost skin tonic and then whatever moisturiser I need, sometimes backed up with an oil. In a morning, all I've ever done is dip my hands in tepid water and wipe my face with hands. Then I moisturise and, if necessary, apply a high sunscreen. I'm regularly told I look as if I'm in my mid thirties, when I'm actually 52, and I think this is because I've had to be careful not to strip or aggravate my skin and that I avoid the sun almost completely. I'm with you on this one, Gemma!! Much love xxx

Both not washing in the am and oil cleansing (double cleanse) in the evening has greatly improved my skin. Not dry or flaky.i use tretinoin 1% daily. If I do a treatment, demarolling or face shaving I skip the tretinoin. Small amounts of vitamin C in the am and niacinamide in the pm. Less product, less steps. The oil cleansing is amazing, second only to tretinoin.

I stopped cleansing in the morning after watching Dr Dray and Cassandra Bankson about 6 months ago, I also thought it was better to let my night time skin care work for as long as it possibly can before I go in with a very minimal morning skin care like resveratrol, vitamin c and a really good moisturiser or just niacinamide, a peptide and a moisturiser (sunscreen of course too) and my skin has improved so much from being a dry, flaky, dull blech thing! good to hear you have had great results.

Not washing my face as often has kept my skin very young and fresh looking. It's no longer dehydrated and fine lined but it has diminished my fine lines. I never wash in the morning for about 20 years. My mother has taught me this and she was very young looking as well. I also learned a few years ago to only wash with Ivory soap and it's the best for my face.

I’ve never cleansed my face in the morning. I splash water on it & Pat it dry. I have extremely dry skin, so I learned early on that I need to let it be. As a teen I put Vaseline on my skin at times. My mom had oily skin & didn’t have the knowledge to help. At 18, while in college I worked at a high end department store in cosmetics & that’s where I fell in love with very nice products! Luckily, I became an RN, so I was able to afford nice products! I’ve taught my girls how to care for their skin early on. My oldest had break outs with oily skin (I did everything to help her & pro active was what ended up the best) My youngest has dry skin like me & uses hydrating products. I buy both of the Dr. Denese “Hydroshield”that they love as it has retinol + hydration. I use it on nights that I don’t use trentinoin. I really enjoyed this video!!

You didn’t mention exfoliation or facials. I have been blessed with great skin my whole life. No problems with acne, not many wrinkles tho I’m 65. I have only once had a facial and it took me 1 month to recover. The only exfoliation I get is if I’m using a washcloth. Scrubbing if you have sensitive skin or acne is disastrous, and never ever use one of those Clarisonic gizmos. The biggest beauty secret is the one Gemma always talks about- protect yourself from the sun. I am married to a dermatologist for 40 years and I have learned with skincare the less products for me , the better my skin looks. A note to Gemma- I tried the Bare Essentuals oil cleanser and my skin has never felt so smooth.

Hi and greetings from Australia. A few months ago i too watched Dr Dray and Cassandra's videos on why they skip cleansing in the morning and i thought I'd give it a go. I have oily/combination skin. I am pleased with the results. The texture of my skin has improved. I was worried my skin will appear oily and may even have breakouts but none of that occurred. Even my pores are less visible. If i wake up with excessive oil on my skin i wash my face with water and lightly spray mist toner on my face and gently pat with a cotton pad. I'm sticking to my new routine. Thankyou for your insightful thoughts on this. Gina..

I stopped washing my face with any kind of cleanser almost 10 years ago (other than when I need to clean off makeup). I used to have combination skin with both extremes: far too oily in my T-zone and chin, and far too dry everywhere else. Making the switch to just splashing my face with water improved all areas of my face, plus I grew to have less pimples and blackheads. People get grossed out when I tell them I don’t wash my face, but it’s been working out pretty great for a decade, so… 🤷🏼‍♀️ It also saves me quite a lot of money and time! I basically have no skincare routine and, as far as I can tell, I look pretty good for my age (35 years old).

I’ve made great progress in the last couple of months in that area (lines are a little less noticeable) thanks to some diligent Skin TLC.
