I don't drink either, and I think you're right for the most part, but there are legitimately people who only drink once or twice a month, and they aren't doing it "to escape responsibility." You should avoid blanket statements like this.
May God keep you firm bro, really been enjoying your videos lately. The cold showers one has been really beneficial! I’m a Muslim convert, agree with a lot of this video.
Great video. I am the same. I never drank a sip in my life mainly because of religion. But now I still wouldn't even if it wasn't for religion just for the reason that it is so bad for your health. Great video.
Careful. Your rhetoric has a very strong stench of judgement in this vid and you’re bordering on moving from teaching to preaching. There are many reasons people drink alcohol and your glossing over of the mental health reasons shows a particular ignorance on the topic.
Something else that's interesting, a friend of mine who refuses to drink alcohol, drinks Hydrosols for the health benefits instead. These are made from treating plants with steam and collecting the water, giving them some of the health properties of the plant.
Agreed. It’s ages you so bad too. I don’t drink because my ex was an alcoholic, so he ruined that for me. Starts out as fun then to cope then becomes a requirement to your body. I’ve seen both my in laws die from it in their 50s, and they didn’t think they had a problem but the autopsy said otherwise.
Omg what video did you talk about Pascals gamble (hope I typed that correctly)?? I have literally come to the realization that believing in God would personally serve me good rather than not, even if real or not. Also I've been binging your videos and I'm obsessed with your content!! Lastly, this video was very reassuring, I totally relate to you and your opinions on alcohol. I have a lot of reasons on why I don't drink like past childhood experiences, anxiety, and literally just how bad it is for your health like you wouldn't even give it to your baby soooo??? But even then, I also seen how an addiction to alcohol plays out in my family especially my dad and I also resonate with the fact that I have an addictive personality and just the thought of depending on something like I have before scares me. I dealt with really extreme phobias of stuff and it shook me just how strong your mind can be altered and have control over you. I just rather not drink. As long as I don't need it, or it doesn't affect my life if I avoid it, I don't care about being "extreme" against it.
Hi Ali, this topic is very important to me and it is comforting knowing that someone else shares the same philosophy on alcohol and moral aversion to it. My impression of someone immediately changes when I find out the willfully don’t drink for any of the reasons you stated and it lets me know that it is more likely to be healthy to be around that person.
So I'm going to disagreeing with everything you're saying. But you're speaking from a place of ignorance you have no idea what it's like to be drunk. You don't need alcohol to relax but it does make you feel more relaxed. the way you're judging it is very harsh considering you've never been drunk you're speaking from an outside perspective.
Hate that it's part of the culture. All my friends from high school got sucked into it and every time we do some big gathering, they try to get me into it too. Even though I've made it clear that I don't want to, they still tease me about it and I can tell they would be way happier if I just got drunk. And yes, I'd still have 1-2 shots just to fit in but that's still not good enough for them. Sucks because they aren't really low quality people, otherwise. I'm not religious or anything, I am just trying to get a good physique and I like to have control over myself and alcohol doesn't help with that. I don't like the taste, I don't get the appeal. Seems pretty hard to find people in real life who are the same way.
Truth! People drink because other people drink so it ends up becoming grown men and women thinking its ok to drink and do stupid things. I know people whose whole personality is revolved around how they are when they drink and when theyre sober they just think life is boring. Its so bizarre that its the norm for some people but like you said its an escape for them. And if you approach it rationally like you said, theres almost no reason to drink. It doesnt taste good (People will argue it does but I really dont think anyone liked the taste when they drank their first drink no matter what kind of alcohol it was), it gets you tipsy, and its unwanted calories. I just dont drink for these reasons. I dont care if people do drink around me and they also are great and dont pressure me.
Great video Ali! Alcohol also leads to so many crimes and deaths every single year. I'm glad you're staying strong with your values and not giving in to peer pressure.
Every person I’ve met who says what’s in quotes literally is the most hammered person at the party, and I’ve been to these parties just to see how they talk the talk but don’t walk the walk. You might not drink, but there’s young people who don’t understand the impact of alcohol. Sure it has a few benefits, but it’s drawbacks outweigh those benefits by a landslide.
I have maybe 5 drinks throughout the entire year and it just doesn’t do anything for me anymore, it makes me feel sick and icky and I feel much more confident when I’m just straight sober. And my priorities for weekend time have become healthier.
I AM that person who only drinks 🍸 1 glass maybe once every 4 or 5 months (if that). I don't drink to mask anything, I just sip bc I am currently 🤪 in the mood. Just like icecream, I don't need to eat it, I just like to taste it but not enough to eat it often. I nay eat icecream 🍦 only once or 2x a year. To say that NOBODY drinks only 1🍸is ludacris 🙄. It may be rare but it is possible bc I know many.
