Same here. Don't like the stress of driving. Prefer to take the lrt and mrt with the monthly pass. Just drive when necessary

Hi Mark, great topic btw. There's one other part you've not touched on and that is toll plazas. Apart from the terrible traffic and high parking rates, the toll prices are also on the high side especially if you bypass one everyday going back and forth to work. I've passed my car's loan to my younger sister and bought a motorcycle just in case i need to go somewhere. Honestly, it's literally paying for itself, considering how little you pay for gas, and the free parking and toll, also you save amples of time. Of course it comes with notoriety and risk, but there's a trade off to everything.
@markodea

If you driving in Ipoh its lil bit like Kuala Lumpur , when in the early morning at the town literally cars on the road is very pack with traffics and wanna find for parking it takes like 15-20 minutes until i decide to park our car like 5 meters away 😂, and in late evening like 5pm to 6pm its getting more pack with traffics and that time is people's going home after work . For me as Malaysian ify and we felt that . But for us its normal but lil bit stress . Take a walk and used the E hailing kinda best way ❤ love ur contents Mark ❤️ . Go further and keep it up you deserve being Malaysian and being part of us 🇲🇾✨😁

The car is mostly for weekend if that and we hate the idea of drink driving, even just one pint. So the car is only for visiting family, grocery shopping and taking the dog.

That's true. One more important things make people sometimes a bit stress owing a car is the car's owner always worry if the car parked anywhere either its body paint no scratching, no any tyre puncture, no parking summons & the worst case especially for a new car either it still there?!! Hahahaha 🤣🤣🤣😂😂

I spend about RM600 or more, 120km for 4 hours back and forth per day (Mon-Fri) every month since 2011 till 2019. Now I spend about RM250 or more, 16km for 2 hours or less back and forth per day (Mon-Fri). We don't have MRT or anything like that but we have other public transportations like Grab, taxi etc. that just isn't worth it if you can help it. Not worth it. I spent on Grab going to work for that one day my car broke down, the same amount I spend on my car petrol enough for 3-4 days. There are no buses available en route to where I work so there's that. I hate, hate, hate driving and I would love to have my own personal driver lol but I don't see any other option and having a driver isn't an option, at least for now.

If I stay in KL or very busy city, i would rather use LRT or mrt going anywhere.or walk.i hate traffic jam so much. however in some area in Malaysia esp small city or isolated area,public transportation is very hard to get.so you still kinda need transportation.because no LRT or mrt.buses also not reliable.luckily,my workplace which is contactor company give transportation allowance or using company's car (choose one) for the workers so we can travel to site construction much easier.so I don't need to buy my own car.but most people,they need their own transportation.cuz the cost of taking grab car everyday gonna be quite expensive.

It is all fine and fun until you or your family member got sick and you don't have a car to routinely go back and forth to the hospital or health center. It is the life i am going through now, I take care of my 76 years old sick mom, she can't walk by herself and I don't have a car, don't know how to drive anyway. So I have to call for taxi every time just to bring my mom on her routine check ups and if she get warded I have to take bus or taxi just to visit her, it will be a problem when the hospital calling at certain time where there is no service available. Then there will be problem when she got discharged, I have to think the best way to get her home. Ambulance service is so expensive and the government funded one is not always there, they're busy. Now I kept thinking "if I owned a car..." but it is too late because I am jobless, don't have money, I only use my mom pension all these time...

Is riding a scooter instead of driving a car not ideal in Malaysia? 🤔 I think it's best in the flexibility of being able to go anywhere while avoiding most traffic jams, also at lower petrol costs. Maybe due to safety? I mean we can avoid most accidents by being alert and practicing defensive riding. Or is riding a scooter has some traffic discrimination? I wonder cause I would like to work in Malaysia someday and I want to ride a scooter to visit different places I like.
