Comparing yourself to others and trying to always be better than them is inherently limited. Only some people get to be the best. That doesn't mean you shouldn't pursue it, because the pursuit itself is pretty fun. But as long as you're having a lot of fun, you're doing an awesome job!
@@Shortcat321 then I'm doing a terrible job, I'd rather go back to the video games I play all the time that are significantly known for being more difficult but less random and luck based. Thank you for the positivity biased, trite filled response. It's like you can't comprehend what it's like because your luck's stat is equal to your skill and it is therefore still fun for you, where I can't improve my skill any further if my luck stat is so bad. It would be fun if it was a little more balanced that I could win first place at least 1/12 of the time, but I come in first one every 50 races or more!!! I have nothing to strive for when it comes to improvement and nothing positive to look forward to when playing. I've had less stress for the past 2 weeks since I quit and I was not measuring myself to anyone else other than the fact that I cannot come in first place without driving 50 f****** times my hardest and always win by chance... 1 out of 50 is not "luck". You measure yourself to other drivers all the time, it happens to be the theme of many of your videos. It irritates me immensely that you got 10 times the amount of likes in under 10 hours for what is essentially absolutely nothing that can help me improve, The story of my life. I look like a jerk for being different and the positive people get optimistic reinforcement for giving me terrible advice.
Sometimes we just gotta realise we're all the main characters of our own stories, in this huge, badly-written crossover called life. And the least we can do is respect the rules of each other's universes
Sorry but that's not going to work for everybody, if I'm pissed off I play better, if I am fed up of the game I play my best. Kaizo Mario games are more skill-based and therefore less frustrating. For me it depends on the game.
I don't know why but a picture of someone discussing with a host of a tournament because he get last but have fun and want a winning price jsjs, I know the frase doesn't apply seriously but I'm stupid and I laughed at my own stupid brain and I wanted to share it
Shortcat understands that while acceleration, handling and grip are stats that matters in Mario Kart, the only stats that matters in real life are kindness, positivity and thoughtfulness.
my theory is shortcat is actually some kind of enlightened being that has found perfect happiness in the world around him and likes sharing his wisdom with us through mariokart
Wow thank you haha, but that I am definitely not an enlightened being! Plus, everyone's path to happiness is different, and my way may not work for everyone. But I still share it, because hopefully some people will find it helpful!
Hey Shortcat, just wanna say that watching you has really improved my outlook on life. Not just in Mariokart, but I’ve also been struggling mentally. It’s been really rough with a lot of stuff happening in my life but I admire how you’re so positive and I’ve started trying to always look at the good side of things even when I’m in a horrible situation. I’m not sure if I’d still be who I am without you. So thank you.
i agree sm, i’ve been going thru a lot for a while now but watching shortcat (esp before bed so i fall asleep in a good mood) has really helped me. it may seem like it wouldn’t make that big of a difference but his videos really have helped me be more positive over time !! also i hope you’re doing okay, hopefully we both feel better soon 💓
I really appreciate it, and I hope for the best for you!! Something that really helped me is when I started thinking about what I can control, and what factors i can't control. If you direct your focus to what you actually CAN do to improve, you'll be able to accomplish so much more than you expect!
@@Shortcat321thanks for the reminder. Focusing on what you can control is the hardest part for my hyper branching brain. I can cook up so many scenarios from one little second of life, see what actually happens, and start cooking again. This is great life advice: focus on what you can control, find your fun, drop the rest if you can.
I'm Canadian and I have completely rage quit this game. I always feel like I am the gimp everyone uses for target practice and the game doesn't like to give me anything cool like lightning bolts or bullet bills. I have never successfully bagged because my item luck is garbage. I've tried to do it just like you see in these videos and it doesn't work ever; I don't get good items when I farm. It brings me nothing but frustration now, but it must stay installed on the switch because of my niece. It would be really nice if there was some way I could learn to enjoy being ganged up on and having no luck.
Someone caring about others more than themself to the point of their own descent is a true pearl. Thanks Shortcat for leaving such a good impact on the world, its really inspiring
This can be a good or bad thing. You definitely don't want to overexert yourself for the sake of pleasing others. I'm at the point where I have been through a lot of good and bad in my life, and I can confidently say that I'll be fine. I feel like when my own needs are met, it's easier to think about how others are doing!
I'm reading a book that talks a lot about meditation, and it makes a clear distinction between being calm and being at peace. ShartCat is clearly at peace with how things go, and I love it. An example to follow.
i really needed to hear this. thank you. its been really rough and your videos have helped a lot. not only with my issues of rage in mario kart, but also me understanding i need to be better for myself and others around me. you have helped push me to make these changes. thank you.
Honestly that "You are so good at this game" line is a great mindset to have. Instead of internalising what you could've done differently, downplaying your own skill, or getting frustrated that you weren't good enough, you praise the person who managed to outsmart you, people who did better than you, and thus praising their ability. It's a really healthy way of handling competition and something I strive to get better at doing
I just got my very first sub 30 on my rubik's cube, and you were the one who taught me. This video is so wholesome in an already incredible day. Thank you so much for the memories, and I hope we will make more in the years to come.
To be honest, I really like the way you look at things: since you know it’s luck that’s out of your control, you laugh! I feel like getting into Mario Kart 8 again, thank you for making this channel. I’m so glad found it!
If it's really luck that's out of a person's control then how come some people can win five times in a row while other people like me can go in sixth place 10 times in a row no matter what I do will change it other than sabotage myself?
@@aehfoibyr2931some things are luck, some things are in your control. Mario kart has a lot less luck than you think! But it's important to identify when something is truly just bad luck, and don't beat yourself up for it
This is the best attitude to have. Something we all have to remember is that when you get screwed over in a match, that became a hype moment for someone else. We should all get to have hype moments, which means that not every race will go our way. Keep it up
“I’m not the main character of the universe. I want everyone to have fun. And sometimes that means I must be sacrificed.” One of the best and positive quotes I’ve ever heard.
If I’m being honest , I got into Mario kart because of your channel. Been watching for a few months now, and I do not rage at things simply because I don’t see you rage at many things.
ShortCat having the exact same outlook on Mario Kart that I have is fuckin dope. It doesn't matter if I win or if I lose, I have one hell of a time every time I start playing the game.
I’m reading all the comments and I can 100% say that shortcat definitely has the best community or one of the best communities on the internet. Keep staying positive shortcat! Love your videos 🙌
Me having fun after being sniped by green shells, being blue shelled, getting my horn stolen when a red shell is coming, and going from 1st to last: 🙂🙂
I’ve been playing and streaming Mario kart again this year, and honestly watching your shorts and videos have been super inspirational to me. This short put a smile on my face cuz this is exactly how I feel about Mario kart when I stream hahahaha
This is sooo deep, I get so mad easily on games and i love how happy you’re and don’t take anything personal.. you’re so cool I wanna change and be like you
Shortcat, love the positives and negatives of just watching your playthroughs and shorts, love the content, thanks for spending your time with all viewers by making yours and their lives happier by creating this great content. Love the videos, just keep doing what you want to do! 🎉🎉🎉
"I'm not the main character of the universe. I want everyone to have fun." I'm currently taking a short sabbatical from gaming because some people told me I was being rude, toxic, etc. I needed to hear this. Thanks for showing that my bad moments can be someone else's good moments.
You just enjoying the game truly is the reason why I could watch your videos forever 😭 I hope you'll keep having lots of fun playing! bless your heart fr
I scream at the screen sometimes but I always laugh after bc it’s a positive energy in the gameplay unlike games like 2k and sports games, that’s why I never stopped playing Nintendo games in general
Man your so good keeping your rage and that exactly me I laugh as well when there bad time moments and I do enjoy your tips and tricks and races vidrios I love it and keep it up
Bro. That's so crazy. I don't even play MK anymore but that mentality is gold dude. Can be applied to other games and even other aspects in life. Thanks bro
POV: Me trying to look calm and happy even when I’m being frustrated by items hitting me, until I totally lose it when someone manages to Mario Kart me at the end while I was front-running.
this is just I can't even describe by words how healthy of a mindset this is the positivity mixed with understanding of others feelings (maybe feeling the same rewarding feeling the others are feeling) Not to say others should have this mindset but I myself honestly should adopt it or at least have something this positive in my own ways for now, I admire it so much
I do this... sometimes. Of course the rage can still get to me, but after a bit I just laugh it off or more likely, I'm in awe of how whatever happened even occoured (playing with a lightweight character can open up lots of silly situations, trust me). Great advice not only for games but life in general, I hope you find more crazy moments to witness in mk8dx Shortcat. B)
another thing i very much appreciate about shortcat is how much more encouraging and less aggressive or pressing they are in their guide videos compared to a lot of other mario kart youtubers. i've been playing mario kart games since wii, although i'm more of a casual myself, but don't get me wrong, i still like to win. who doesn't? i just like enjoying the game to its full extent a wee bit more. but still, these videos have brought me a lot of education and entertainment, and have encouraged me to practice and improve my skill so i can keep up with the pack a bit better. thanks, shortcat! hope to see more from you!
I’ve definitely noticed you are really disciplined and calm when you’re playing Mario Kart. Mario Kart definitely for me is a rage inducing game, especially when someone either snipes me amazingly, or I get Blue Shelled right before the finish line, something like that lmao But yea, I definitely respect your style a ton and I feel like it’s really good to be disciplined in games that are as rage inducing as Mario Kart 😅
You are a blessing! I love your videos and they do help me, my girlfriend and indirectly her little sis to understand Mario Kart more and more! Thanks a lot! Love positive players, coz games are games! 🥰
you seriously helped my outlook on this game! i found your videos when i was especially enraged at this game and it was a serious wake up call. its not that deep and im just here to have a good time racing!!❤
