3 links are 4 links with a missing piece. if you don't have the space, just build radius arms... otherwise build an actual 4 link.
For as popular as they are, 3 links are a terrible suspension setup. You get good flex, but you run the risk of destroying all kinds of components if something goes wrong... And eventually something goes wrong. Radius arms may not be what the cool kids run, but they are flexible, dependable, and safe even when they fail.
The main problem with 3 link suspensions are that the rotation of your axle relies solely on you upper link. Should that (or any of your other links) fail in any way, your axle is free to rotate and in the process your shocks WILL be destroyed. Your driveshaft is likely to go with it, potentially along with your oil pan, steering, track bar, and pride. A failure of a 3 link is almost always catastrophic. Not worth the risk in my opinion. Keep is simple and build radius arms... Or do it right and build a 4 link. Just my $.02.
