I love this pattern, I wear it for airsoft and get laughed at a lot, but when it works better than the type 95, flecktarn and multicam that are popular here I am the one laughing! If you look at it even from standart airsoft fighting distance the red disappears and blends into other colours while making interesting almost 3d effect that breaks up the outline better than most other patterns.
I've seen that pattern before, but I was so use to the woodland camouflage that I thought it was just some kind of designer camouflage. Shows you how much I know. Lol but now I think it's worth a shot.
I like the idea of having your whole team in the same pattern. I picked up a bunch of British Desert shirts for cheap. I bought a bunch to give to my guys if I need to. Thanks again for the great video.
Was issued OD green in basic training, long ago. They started issuing woodland to new recruits shortly after. Had to buy my own woodland. Now I buy multicam.
@@joenuts5167 by unnatural I am referring to the straight lines and squares that don't appear in nature. I understand that it can still work as camouflage, but I personally don't care for it. I can understand how some may like it.
I used it for paint ball. It really did worked well and you really didn’t need any overt red color in the environment. It worked just as well in the greener summer months as it did in the fall when there was more reds.
I used the Swiss Camo for paint ball about 20 years ago. It was very effective and at the time it was very cheap and there seemed to be an unlimited supply.
I just googled it and found the Swiss Army issue Alpenflage M70 field jacket for $12.99. The matching M70 pants with suspenders were also $12.99. Thanks Jacob.
I roll with woodland bdu for my gear but I have to say my fav cammie pattern is what the bulgarian troops wore in Afghanistan. And they looked really breathable and comfortable
Yeah I liked them. But yeah woodlands are a good choice. I think it is important in a shtf situation to not look like the guys everyone is pissed at leading up to said event lol
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors exactly lol how do you feel about suppressors? I wouldn't want to keep it mounted on a 16 inch AR all the time but I figured it could have its benefits when shooting at night for flash reduction or if your on the move and the report of a shot isn't as obvious to a untrained ear. In a shtf event I'm meaning.
@@user-zp6nm6rt8k i would LOVE to have one- will I buy shelling out $ and kissing govt butt for one? No. There is no denying their potential advantages though, even just for flash suppression
Try it out in the middle of summer and winter as well, you might be surprised. I am from the pnw where I started using it because my dad was opfor at Lewis and it was what they wore. Unless you are in a perfectly white environment this stuff will surprise you! Or anyone looking for you.
I always thought it was a Swiss pattern. I was just razzing you on the last vid. I've almost bought some a few times over the years. I see the utility in it.
Oh its ugly! Haha no denying that! Maybe its even half the fun 🤷♂️ I wish it was as cheap and plentiful as it used to be. On the dl- I am altering the pattern and thinking about releasing it as my own.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Do it, but darken up the red some. I live in the northeast part of Washington state, which varies from green to red. None of the popular camos seem to work across the board. I have spent years hiking the mountains with my brindle Great Dane and she blends in so well in all environments. Do you know of any brindle type camo patterns? I know of tiger stripe camo but there is just too much contrast and it doesn't blend good here.
How would the alpenflage gear hold up for camping? The pants and shirt are a 50/50 cotton polyester, I wouldn't be taking the jacket because I'd take a pack.
Shot in the dark on an old vid....when you order this from Europe (looks like most comes from same place in Lithuania) do you order the sizes like you would in US? If a medium here , do you order a medium jacket ? And waist /inseam, does it seem to mesh with jeans you order in US?
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors TBH my alpenflage was used in a strictly urban jungle back then. It did appear to keep predators at bay (especially on the rare occasions when the face veil would be drunkenly deployed). I actually loved all the matching pieces (parka, pants, & backpack) & the material was nice & heavy.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors I just got a German poncho pup tent amazing really, I've been looking into the jackets now stay strong&healthy safe&happy brotha!!(=✌💚
How well do you think Cadpat camo, I believe it's called would perform in your area? It's a Canadian military camo pattern that works great for me in areas with evergreens mixed with aspen.
@@nathanbigsby8731 Capdat seems too bright. Cadpat like aor2 would be amazing for wet tropical areas but not great in Canada unless fighting over a mowed grass football field. In the woods it ok but flecktarn is better and especially for October to May in Canada for 90% of the country it is way too bright green. Needs more brown and dead grass look. Marpat is probably better in that regard because way more brown. But I am not a fan of digital camo. It looks cool and works well up close but have heard because of the small pixels from a distance appears as one color and actually draws your eye to it unlike more separated pattern like flecktarn, dpm, multicam, etc. I don't like multicam because you need to be lying down in dead grass for it to work and ya then it's 'the best' but everything works when lying in long dead grass
Actually "Leibermuster" was the Name for the original pattern from Germany during WWII. One of the companies involved in developing was called Hellmut Leiber and Leiber ("Leib") can also refer to the German word for Body, so it´s also a little Pun.... And the red and brown tones in the German Camo-Patterns from that time come from the fact, that Germany was already in developing IR-Scopes etc. and that was considered when developing those patterns. You still see it in the Flecktarn....
No problem, I asked because I wasn't sure if I had accidentally misrepresented the camo in the video or forgot to mention it's history. But I am well familiar with the different stages, iterations, and nations that used alpenflage
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors Yeah, I just used "actually" without that deep meaning. Most people here in Europe don't know about the history etc. about those patterns and get a little irritated..... haha
@johnmoder5306 understandable! Its no big deal, but here actually is often... a bit... aggressive? Idk. Borderline rude possibly. It depends a lot on context. If you want to be really sassy you write it like aCtuAlLy or AKtuAlLy with random capitalization haha
Haha i love that! It will come! The market when learn how cool alpenflage is- then the companies that are currently mocking me for what I am doing will be scrambling to get some themselves.
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors I agree, I also think other older camos will be coming back. I think there’s a growing portion of the gun community that would rather have their kit with a piece of history more than tacticool vanilla(multicam) ie the Rhodesian camo revival.
First, its "leibermuster" It is absolutely nothing like erdl. It was later a czech pattern. It was then bought and tweaked by the swiss. They are all the same family of camo with changes being made over the years.
I did alpenflage on my ar I put a video of it up cause it's awesome I love different camouflage I actually made it in leibermuster but it's the same basic thing
Yeah I love it I'm in central north Carolina and it works great around here year round even when everything is green it's definitely my favorite and my go to I wish more gear was made in it but I think you can buy a stencil for it online I drew mine myself on construction paper and then cut it out it was not easy to do but definitely worth it I might make a video on how to do it with a rifle I just bought and put it on here
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors yeah until then I got a new chest rig in woodland and I am going to try and use my stencil to add a little bit of red and white and blend it since it has pretty much all the other colors as leibermuster
I came here to start a fight with someone who made a stupid comment so you wouldn't have to, but there are no stupid comments yet... I guess I will have to wait a week and check back. ;)
@@Thepreppersbunkeroutdoors That's just how you pronounce it, It's not really translatable, but it essentially means alps pattern(camo). I think you said so in the video, but it's kind of a catch all civilian branding of that type of camo from the TAZ (der Tarnanzug) 57 series of BDU. Alpentarn / Alpenflage is pretty interchangeable.
I meant to get back to it. The Alps, + camou"flage" I have never heard anyone pronounce it like you said, but if some European wants to try to make it fancy good for them lol
@@DannyRiskit i dont like the canvas- i like the 50% poly- Whats your issue with it? Breathability? Heat? Im interested, and ill look for the issue myself to see if I notice it as well.
