About Mayim Bialik:
You might know me as Amy Farrah Fowler from The Big Bang Theory or from Blossom but there are so many other parts of me that you might not be aware of! I’m trained as a neuroscientist, I'm a passionate activist, an observant Jew, a perfectly imperfect mother, and I'm a complicated human being like many of you. This is the place where I wear all of those hats - and none of them have a flower on them! ;)

This was one of the most non-aggressive and palatable dialogues on "Why I'm Vegan". As a Vegan myself, I have so much respect for your sensitive and non-violent approach to activism. Thank you

I am a vegetarian since 1968 I was 12 years old my mom allowed it & would say " she is just going through a phase" I am now 60 & my mom is 88 she still thinks I am going through a phase. I have realized my mother & sister eat very little meat, I guess I have rubbed off on them. Very few people where vegetarian at that time. A few of my friends & several of my children tried it but didn't last long. I was married to a meat eater & the kids where allowed to go either way. I cooked meat for them but didn't eat it.I still remember what meat tastes like but can not eat it. I became very anemic @ one point & my doctor said I would have to eat meat for my health & I told her I couldn't. I am like you the thought of eating it & the killing of an animal is not for me. Now days there is much more information on it & more public awareness then in 1968.. I have become vitamin B & B12 def & have to take supplements otherwise I do not see any health difficulties from it. After 48 years of no meat eating I am glad made being a vegetarian my life style. I do not eat pork, chicken or red meat. I do eat dairy & eggs. I have been trying to eliminate eggs in my diet.

As a vegan, thank you for being a reasonable presence in the vegan community, this is helpful because there are radical people.

Your name is very difficult I hope I dont offend you to call you May * I saw your a neurologist * & I wanted to talk to you my son had chronic migraine * I'm talking to you and my mind goes to Barbara stresiand when the guy says how can you not have aspirin & Barbara Katy says I always eat for a headache * on the way we were * my son had chronic migraine since he was a baby I never knew what was wrong with him he would cry so badly he would pass out from pain * one day I asked him what hurts i pointed areas of the body he pointed to his head i gave him tylenol everyday tylenol until he was about 12 the migraines increased a doctor said we need to take him to children's center * it was awful they would say I have to ask I understood yet it gave me a high blood pressure migraine are you hurting him* no I replied we have to ask * well he went to the children's center * he had stress from school * they took blood work * finally the blood work came back I have to be honest I almost lost it I thought this is ridiculous I was so angry .. when she sits me down and says i know this sounds ridiculous he needs vitamin D i said vitamin D you would have to live the life i lived everyday for 12 years * then she looked at me & said try it * he had brain scans he had blood work for diabetes he had blood work for everything accept his vitamin d levels * I was hoping being a neurologist you could research this about vitamine D levels missing vitamin d also for alzheimers Parkinson's dementia bi polar adhd skitsophrenia and brain disorders from lack of vitamins * he is doing great * not only could he not read back then with the vitamins d levels going up he began reading and grades went up and he got his high school diploma * was studying beter and no more migraines if he does not take his vitamins D he gets a migraine I cant keep the vitamins d in his system consistently he doesn't absorb it * so if he misses a dosage he will get a migraine * I hoped also if you study this and can show how important vitamins and lack of vitamins are for brain function you could talk about having vitamins IVs being covered for poor people with poor medical they will not cover it * it helped with his studies so much like I said he needs quite a bit of vitamins d the pills help with the migraine he really needs vitamins IV I cant afford it * I thought if you could research you could help alot of children with migraines and adults with chronic migraines poor and vitamins IVs . and when a baby is crying so badly and noone knows what wrong to show him/her to point where it hurts too * & vitamins nutrition for the brain * & poor people's chronic migraine and vitamins deficiency * I know since your vegan you know about the importance of vitamins IVs maybe or heard of vitamins IVs I'm sure you heard of *

Okay. Killing an animal who doesn't want to be killed is not ethical. Just like killing a human who doesn't want to be killed is not ethical. You do not respect someone by slitting their throat, dismantling their body, consuming their body, and shitting them out into your toilet no matter how well they were cared for in their life.

Mayim Bialik is one of the few celebrities I respect. most of the time, when a celebrity gives an opinion, I could not care less. but when Mayim talks, I listen.

Damn. A really solid argument for vegans. We’re usually not represented like this and it’s really nice to see people taking this kind of approach to veganism. Shaming and blaming others will not get us anywhere and educated, logical people like this are the ones who will make change; a respectable life for animals and for workers.✌🏼🍉🥦🥑🥥🐷🐔🐠🐴🐣🐮🐰🌎

I’m not a vegan but I have greatly reduced my meat consumption and buy eggs, honey, butter, and cheese from local farms so I know how the animals are treated. Your presentation was highly educational and the delivery was welcoming and insightful. The more I read and learn, the less meat I consume.

Gary Yourofsky: "The problem is that humans have victimized animals to such a degree that they are not even considered victims. They are not even considered at all. They are nothing. They don't count; they don't matter; they're commodities like TV sets and cell phones. We have actually turned animals into inanimate objects - sandwiches and shoes."

I was interested in vegan diet so I started to watch vegan recipes and listening to their motives. I also got confronted with clips of animal cruelty but couldn't watch it. These 10 seconds of screams and abuse were enough to change my mindset and I became vegetarian in an instant.

I have been vegan for close to seven years. Thank you for being a voice for the voiceless non human sentient beings. It is good that a famous and very intelligent person as yourself speaks up. God bless you 💚
