I started gig work recently as my income source after fleeing domestic violence and I am so thankful for your video series, ESPECIALLY the tax one! I was able to get back on my feet within a week of leaving despite my husband forcing me to be a stay at home parent and not letting me go to school before. Now that I’ve left, I’m able to keep my daughter and I afloat, avoid childcare, and go to school, and I only thought to sign up because I had seen some of your videos a while ago🙏❤️

@That Elizabeth I just brought my daughter with me to everything except school. And I did as much of my classes and school work online as I could, so I only had to be on campus a couple hours a week when I would leave my daughter with my mom

Truth is: delivery across the board used to be an occasional "luxury" and people tipped like it was a luxury and were grateful for the help/convenience. Now, people have grown accustomed to a myriad of delivery services--from Amazon to Uber--and they seriously don't think they ought to tip the delivery driver--even when the order is five, 24-count bottled water packages to a third floor apartment and there is no elevator and it is 80-plus degrees outside. Delivery has become "fast food" and drivers are treated like a "junk food fix." Not so much fun or profit as it once was because customers want it fast and don't want to pay anything for it. It takes the heart right out of you and spending your day being demoralized on one order after another is just not a pleasant way to pass one's time.

@@TyraTheCreative Hi. Yes, I still deliver. Delivery has been my life "fix" since I was "laid off" in November of 1989 right before Thanksgiving--I got the pink slip in my paycheck literally the week before Thanksgiving day and I spent a whole year looking for "real" work and struggling before surrendering to the delivery "gig" full time. I swore I would NEVER depend on a corporate job again (me with 2 college degrees plus a master's degree in business of all things). I started in 1988 with newspapers as a side hustle, not taking it seriously because it was just much needed extra income and lived through one after the other newspaper going out of business. Don't laugh. I actually could make over $4K a month slinging around 26K papers a week with two people working for me. I would park a van and they would roll papers to fill it. I would swing in with an empty truck, take the van, and they would roll papers to fill the truck then I would come back with an empty van. I spent years doing this. My last paper was delivered on 10/12/2012. Then, I did phone books for seven years--delivering in two states all over the states. I started Instacart in 2019...and have tried Postmates, DoorDash, UberEats, a couple of others, and most recently Shipt--because Shipt and GrubHub didn't respond as easily as some of the others. Each service has its strengths and weaknesses with their apps. I will be working one and think "oh. I wish this app did such and such like the other app." I like delivery except for the uncertainty; if there is one thing I have learned in over 30 years of driving for delivery is that one has to learn to roll with what is available and be flexible. I have delivered everything from auto parts to laundry/dry cleaning to pizzas to whatever. Some days I hate it; some days I love it. I never hate it enough to go back to sitting behind somebody else's desk being treated like a lackey or a minion they can discard at will. Sometimes I have to work longer hours (15-18 a day; I once drove 39 hours straight in two days to complete a delivery schedule--i said "never again" to that) or, look for more profitable work but it is still better than being officially "employed." I understand why companies can't get workers....its called the corporate mindset. If I work for somebody I only "sell my time" while I am doing their job: I don't sell my entire existence and being to them. The employer (and their government overreach) doesn't get to control my off work time or dictate my insurance options or even demand drug or DNA testing or injections. I just don't want to work in an environment where I am treated like a piece of disposable property and not a person. I will work for myself as long as possible doing something that I can tolerate; and, when I can't tolerate it any more, I will find something else. For the time being, I can still tolerate "delivery."

Hi Tyra, I was a Shipt Shopper from June to August. I really enjoyed it at first, but like you said, the larger paying shops dried up and I got tired of Delivery Only and Prescription Delivery orders because they paid so low. I thought I’d be able to Shipt on the weekends since I’m a teacher and can’t seem to fit it in my schedule during weekday evenings, but I’m so tired after working with preschoolers with special needs that I need the weekends for myself. I think I’ll check back around the holidays to see if the shops have increased. Thank you for all of your helpful videos. They really got me started on this journey! ❤️

New shoppers get priority my foot! Yeah, for 2 days! Most of the orders go to seniority Shooters. The promo list evaporates as soon as you glance at it and most of them are wanting 40 to 60 items.

I am a shipt shopper and in the beginning the journey was great! Could make hundreds in a day, then It dried up a couple months later. Then I read new shoppers get priority. Smh. Pay also decreased alot.

Use Shipt as a true side gig. Just be very picky at what orders you shop for. I’ve started doing that and In a 4 hour work window I make $200-$400 that’s including the tips bc I figured out which counties around my county actually give out tips. And I actually live a 10 min drive from the Target and grocery store they use and delivery is no more than a 10 min drive per order I get around their! So if you live in a close by hot spot like I do, it’ll still be worth it!

I love your Shipt videos and gained confidence through watching learning and applying the many jewels you shared!I was doing Shipt during the early morning to afternoon for a lil Xtra income and like you I grew spoiled quickly. I loved shopping the local markets and of course Best Buy delivery only orders but as of late the customers are ... Well, you know 🙊😋 and it just isn't fun or worth it to do anymore, for me 🤷🏾‍♂️. My experience with Shipt is very very new, as I started and done my first two shopping trips today. I started Instacart the first of the year. Shopping is my side gig and not my job. I am a bus monitor for special needs students, and that is by a landslide the most rewarding job I never knew existed until I got the job. Shop the stores that I can literally see from my driveway. Thank you for the hard hitting questions to ask myself if I ever for any reason get to the point where I need to stop.

I've only done shipt for 2 weeks. My first week made nearly $400. 2nd not even half of that. It's a waste of time cause a lot of things that aren't in your control affect your tip. Items not available in the store, customers not responding when you reach out, you receiving the order late on shipt.

My absolute pet peeve is when customers don't respond to text messages, especially if the address is wrong or the app doesn't give an apartment number and there is a whole complex to choose from. Drivers are supposed to be psychic about how to find them?!? Like I carry an locator ouija board along with my GPS to find their front door?!? SMH.

up and down for me until figured out how to work it...i use it for extra money, so i only work sundays, i take overflow orders i can choose. i try to take the highest paying ones in the same area. 2 shops at a time and i average 20-25 an hr...now i live in a high sunday order area and i am lucky that around 80% of ppl tip....tyra big help with this , cart for going upstairs....golden advice lol

Hello Tyra, So sorry to here you will be leaving Shipt Shopping. I have been a Shipt shopper only this month,and my first experience seen hecked. I thought,I was going to lose my mind,when I pick a order,with 53 items,from Meijer. But best part about doing it,got to meet other Shipt workers,who help me out inside the store,that were familiar with the shoppers app. That only happen for one day.wish next day,I work it like a pro,and enjoyed meeting many shoppers,from walks of life.

I have been an Instacart shopper for a little bit over a year now I applied for Shipt at the same time and have been on the waiting list. Well Shipt finally approved me. I was so excited after watching some of your videos to get started. I have now been doing a few orders for about a week. I am not a fan. I received a five dollar tip out of 10 orders. I have been doing Instacart for a year and a half and I have had a five star rating for about the last 10 months, so I am good at what I do. I heard all of the good things about this platform and now I am here and I’m not finding the joy. Thank you so much for your videos, for they help me to get started.

Wow this video makes me feel better for leaving Shipt. I worked at target for 6 years til December 2020. Did Shipt starting August 2020 and well now I got a hospital job. Got my associate degree. So it was the next chapter in life . I hated the I had to pay $700 in tax for Shipt so January 2021 I did $300 in Shipt orders and stopped . It just wasn’t working out and I don’t miss that weekly pay but hey it all for an experience. I visited new area doing Shipt . Knowing the target stores made my trip a breeze . Nothing is forever . Actually been doing SHIPT for four days. First two days I had six total deliveries $61 total $5 in tips. Third day was Sunday 6 deliveries $100 total and $43 in tips. I've learned not to shop be at Office depot or outside of your specific zone(s). I knew already. But wanted to make sure my assumptions were correct. I'm doing it to pay off credit card debt. I have a full time job. So just trying to add a little more to it. So far, I've enjoyed it. Office depot and these other stores don't work well with Shipt. At least not here in Kansas. Appreciate the content help. Wish you well.

I quit doing Shipt because I was being overworked (I worked during the holiday season of 2020). I wasnt eating lunch until 2 or 3 in the afternoon. I hardly had time to use the restroom. It was just not a healthy company for me to work for full time. One customer every hour means you hardly have time to take care of yourself. So now I gladly work for companies that I can log in and log out whenever I want.

Last week was my first time doing it. I made $300. This week I literally have to keep refreshing the app every 5 seconds to grab an offer. When I do grab one it’s already gone. I don’t have another income right now and I had to spend over $100 on gas in a week. I think I need a real job at this point. Love you videos!

This video is good and relevant. But it is a little different for me. I just started last Thursday and I’m not really consistent but I’ve found as long as your are communicating and stay up on great customer service with substitutes, I’ve did a job that was $10 and the tip was $35. I was like oh yeah? I hope it’s like this all the time. The apps mess you up. I did DoorDash too this past summer. I’d say don’t get too greedy and picking two jobs at once cause it’s time consuming and you have to have two shopping carts. And communicate with the customer their are two orders in one job. Those effect your commission or tips. Tips is the bread and butter.

I have been a shipt shopper a year. And I have notice too, the money gone down. Customers just aren't tippimg like before. My situation different I do need flexibility with a dementia husband I'm soul care giver but he is retired has a fixed income. So I'm not doing as many shops. And I'm semi retired. Probably eventually will find a different part time job.

I do shipt part time to earn extra cash and she's right it is frustrating people not showing there appreciation for what we do they almost never tip I do about 20 orders a week and I'm lucky if I get 6 tips that's about 33% that's not good at all but as I said it's PT for me but still frustrating

It is my primary income source. But that’s because I’m a single parent and a student, and gig work is the only way for me to avoid childcare that would cost $350-$500/wk in my area. If the childcare wasn’t a factor, gig work wouldn’t be my primary income and I wouldn’t be as happy to do it. Also getting to spend every day with my daughter is lovely, tbh

Maybe but in order to make any money you have to work all day. I do not do shipt because there are zero orders in my area but I do doordash. In order to make a decent amount of money now you have to put at least 6 or more hours. There was a time where you could work 4 hours and make good money but those days are gone.

It’s a lot of work that goes into doing Shipt, it needs to be a higher rate for sure. You use your gas, wear and tear on you car and body. And like you said so people are very ungrateful. Definitely, have its ups and downs but just make the best of it and have to take your breaks when you need them for sure.

Oh Tyra. I’ve been a shopper for four years and it’s the perfect job for me at my age and being an empty nester. I’ve seen hundreds of shoppers blow through. Just like you they are successful at first and after a few months they can’t figure out why their business has slowed down. It’s because Shipt over saturates the market. Every month they hire and hire and my customers don’t get me anymore, they get newbies who tend to make a lot of mistakes. It’s hard for a veteran shopper like me not to resent the newbs. Well at least now as far the newbies you can start to get your regular customers or the people you enjoy shopping for to request you as a preferred shopper & they will get you more often. You are right with Shipt hiring so many new shoppers it over saturates the market because I haven't gotten a bunch of my regulars in awhile.

Guess what…. Just found out shipt is doing a thing where they preferred their shoppers. Like favorites. But the only way they can do that. Is paying $99 a year because you get a perk of $35 off your order and favorite your shoppers

I've only seen 3 tips since I started this. I hate it. The stores don't seem to like us. The customers are rude and don't tip and shipt barely pays us anything. I made 7.00 and no tip on an order I had to drive 25mins to drop off and 25mins back. That's insane.

I've been doing shipt for about 4 months now. Tips are very random. I have received anywhere from $25 tips to $0. The best are the promos. I managed to grab a $20 promo the other day. The person didn't tip but I wasn't that upset since the order paid $20. The order before that one gave me a $25 tip so I ended up making a little over $60 in 3 hours which was good enough for me. I'm looking to make $250-$300 per month. I've been working a retail job for about 3 years now on weekends. With shipt, I can take home same pay in 3 to 4 hours as I make on my two 8 hour shifts on the weekend at a retailer where I'm breaking my back doing stock and I have absolutely no fun or relaxation on the weekends whatsoever.

I stopped shipt because I kept track of the payment offers vs what I received and don't add up right, got 2 flat tires in the same week and instead of support the dropped me. Very bad business practices from them, shopper support wait times were consistently 30 to 60 minutes long and they tried to deactivate me over canceling an order in the hour but I was on hold with support for over an hour! I called them out and they reactivated me just to deactivate over the tires two weeks later. I don't want nothing to do with it period! Rude customers, no decent pay etc.....done done done.

I started Shipt a few weeks ago and have a huge problem with them. First of all, they say that when you are new they will send offers and will not be rated during this period. Not true! You are ignored to Promo pergatory, where you and others bid and have 2 seconds to grab the offer. What is going on? Also, if you don't have a customer base that you set up yourself then you're lost in the gravy.

I am in Ventura County . I just started only 2 days in and only do Camarillo. I drive a pick up truck so I am trying to limit mileage. Do you recommend adding one more city within my metro like Thousand Oaks or Oxnard? Not seeing many if any being assigned to me.

Never got the shirt. App has been crashing, causing me to restart my phone several times a day. Orders dried up for me although adjacent zones are on fire with orders. So do I have to drive another hour to get action in a new zone? This is really starting to affect my earnings big time

ive only done 3 Shipt shops. 2 of the 3 customers didnt tip. its hard to continue doing Shipt with customers that dont tip. not worth it.

This week I tried 6 orders. So far 2 out of 6 have tips. I may do a few in a different area next week but I do want to see the tips or I'm done with this app. Also getting a order like a rx with a wait to deliver for a hour as a new driver is too much wait time. I may just go back to being retired.

I did Shipt and quit after 3 weeks...I'm not shopping, THEN driving 15 miles for 8 dollars. I don't want to namedrop who I'm gigging for now, but I will say that Shipt doesn't even compare. There are far better companies than Shipt. I don't blame you for bailing.

your doing it wrong,...once you can, the goal is two small shops that pay 8 bucks each....usually i get tipped on at least one order 5. So for an hr and a half, i make 21 dollars

My worst recent experience was a couple of days ago when it was pouring down raining. The customers literally sat in the house with the blinds open and watch me rush 30 bags up to their porch. I never got a tip and they never came out to thank me. My experiences have been getting worse and worse

Today i got deactivated for taking picture with facemask, They asked for proof and i sent them my drivers license and told it was genuine mistake since i drive with facemask all the time. Unbelievable! After one year of pandemic service and high customer rating this is how they treat you! I never in my wildest dream thought they would fire me for uploading picture with facemask! It's a joke. Nobody tips, by the time your offered the order theres typically just enough time to get to the store, shop and deliver. Then you realize more then half the order is out of stock and you have to text the client each time the item is out of stock only to wait for the client to reply making you trek across the store. You become a servant to a client that will either give you a poor rating for the order not being on time and or get a tip around 1% to 3%. Most days after paying for gas your making less then minimum wage. Too bad that I've heard all of the shopper gigs are the same in terms of what you'll make. I just find it funny that in some areas of the country people actually make a fair wage as they show Shoppers making 3x more then what they will actually make. They do have a good system but unfortunately their system needs a LOT of tweaking such as finding a way to omit the several minute long delay in messaging the customer. Those sort of intangibles will make you late for your delivery. I wish I could say something positive but just can't think of a single compliment. Sorry Shipt

My account was deactivated be someone lied about never receiving their order. After trying to appeal twice, even providing proof that I did in fact complete the order, after they're "investagting" they said they were unable to confirm if I completed the delivery and my deactivation will stand. So cruel and unfair how people treat other people. Bravenotch was my hero and thankfully put me back to works
