I know I'll go back to smoking regularly after sobriety. That's what has happened every single time. I wish I could smoke once a week or month and just be fine with it. I haven't smoked in 82 days and I am still obsessed with it

You should never stop trying. I quit 3 days ago after 3 weeks of reducing my intake (heavy everyday user for 15 years). I did quit for 4 months during the lockdown in 2020. And just the thought that I did succeed even under special circumstances boosts your confidence. This time I'm shunning my smoke buddies and erased every dealers contact. I suggest you do the same. Sometimes your friends who are not ready to quit yet will try to drag you in again. I dunno if you can call them "friends" btw, so beware if your entourage. Good luck mate, I hope I'll quit this time because it's beginning to take a toll on my mental/physical health.

I went multiple times quitting for 3-4 months and always fell back. Now, I started therapy and reading coach Corey Wayne how to be a 3% man. I’m on the 12th read. Anyways, what I’ve learned is my addiction to weed and other substances was merely me trying to cope with not knowing how to deal with my emotions in a healthy way and how to communicate properly. Now I choose to smoke but don’t have the desire like I had in the past. Until you fix your mindset you will always to stuck to something that helps you cope

You also convinced me to stop using weed forever, rather than just temporarily as I had in the past. Thank you so much. You are doing great work.

Watching these videos make me realize that my addiction and needs aren’t nearly as bad as others… I never needed a video or someone to motivate me that marijuana is negatively effecting me. I simply chose to use it heavily.. now I’m choosing to quit cold turkey until further notice. I will say smoking daily is way to much but I love weed so I want to control my intake. I simply wanna be in control.

I wouldn't recommend setting dates like "atleast 42 days". I've noticed whenever I do that, or if I quit for 3 months, my next sobriety stint will be JUST over 3 months. Aim for the moon, even if you miss you'll land among the stars? Or some shit like that 😂

Day 4 today, all thanks to you and your vids explaining everything. I didn't know my body would go through flu-like symptoms at first (it did), or literally any of the things you talk about. I felt for so long that I want to do something about this thing that controls my life, and I realized I need help. I'm not one for meetings (you never know but at least not yet) so I just went to YT and wrote "quitting weed" and after checking the like/dislike ratio (thank god for extensions) I found you and man, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You helped. You actually helped. I quit both weed and tobacco. Until that, mainly due to weed, everything in my life was secondary. And I do mean everything. My job, my health, my friends, my relationships, my hobbies became barely existent due to this. Now I'm just letting myself take it easy and using the drive to do small things at first (yesterday saw a friend I haven't seen in a while) and I know that my obsession will kick in and I'll start to train myself to redirect it. Like, the fog is clearing up and I start remembering that I want to fucking do things with my life. So, thanks a lot, I really appreciate what you're doing for you and all of us.

You''re absolutely right about how indecision saps your energy and sets you up for relapse. It also makes you less satisfied with your current choices, because you're always going back and forth. Deciding once and for all is a lot better. You helped me make that choice rather than binge, quit for a while, binge, quit for a while, over and over. Thank you. Personally, I know that I am not capable of moderating my use. As you describe in the video, I have tried hundreds of times and dozens of ways to moderate my use, and I've never been able to succeed long-term. Maybe for a week or a month or two, but not consistently. I have always used addictively, and I always will. So I decided to stop, period. Thanks again, Dr. Frank. (Nice pic with the seashell, lol)

You are not alone man, we are together on this long journey. After the 1 or 2 months is very possible to relapse because your new habit is not established yet, now you need to push and stay strong until the one year!!! Please leave this friday thing because is very possible for you to relapse because we are addicted on this after so long time. Dont smoke anything for 1 YEAR at least! I did stop 1 month ago, I did smoke half joint before 10 days and i did hate it even more because it destroyed for 2 days what I had in my head.. We dont need this, dont forget what you are warrior.

Guys you should read the Atomic habits or James Clear but also go and find a sport you like and smash it, this is what it helped me very very much, I started training 5x per week since i stopped and this also helped me to detoxicate much faster, your mind will play a lot of games because of addiction but you have to make your stoner self to shut up and move forward.

I’ve been sober from alcohol for 88 days now, it was my biggest problem as I put myself and others in danger and most times I was lucky to wake up in the morning. I have 0 desire to ever touch alcohol again. I’ve also been smoking weed for about 10 years, 19 days sober today. It was tough for the first week but I don’t think about it often anymore. Even as an almost daily smoker I could be around people smoking weed and not smoke, but alcohol was different I couldn’t control it. The odd time like today where I know it wouldn’t be interfering with my schedule I have the urge to smoke to relax and just treat myself. I know the time and place when I should and shouldn’t smoke weed based on my reaction to it. I don’t see myself falling back into a pattern but it’s hard to say, the only thing keeping me from doing it is having a day tracker on my phone and feeling guilty for breaking that. Blessing or curse? To smoke or not? Or am I just trying to justify my smoking

Hey thanks for answering this one, I was thinking the same as the guy that that posted the question. My mind is telling me (or my addictive voice in my head) that everything in moderation is ok but it’s tempting fate. I’m an all in person too so maybe there is a risk that even if I did smoke once for my birthday for example I might be like well how about smoking weed just next week, then how about every few days ect ect and before I know it I’m back in addiction. I would also have my next smoke constantly on my mind, like how long do I have to wait. I totally get it now.

I get your point. I also think I may be in denial for thinking this, but I think it could be different for me... I get it, if you are an addicted personality, that's exactly how it plays out, 100%. Still, I don't think as me as an addicted. I've been addicted, I've used every kind of drug for a couple years, and then I just stopped. After that, I solved many underlying problems I had, and I feel I'm not the same person... I'm quite confident I can get to reduce consume, expecially if I manage to totally quit for a while... I've just started yesterday, by not smoking as soon as I wake up, as I did for the last 13 years... Is not the easiest thing, but not that hard either, and I can do it easier if I know it's until night time... It should play out just as when I quit smoking at work (I work at night, alone): the first days the cravings felt unmanageable, then I become used to it, and now I don't even think about smoking during work (well, except right now that I am talking about this, but I'm not craving it, so it's ok)... I might be in denial, but honestly I really hope I'm right.... I've tried quitting a few times years ago, when my addictive personality wasn't totally gone, and my life was shit compared to now, and I alwais relapsed on the second day, thinking "quitting is not the solution, moderation is!", but I haven't really never tried to moderate even a single time... Wish me luck, if this doesn't work, I'll assume next time I'll have to try cold turkey again...

I decided a few years ago to use that trait on myself, specifically my health. It’s working fabulously, I’m in wicked shape for any age. My pic is a few years old now the updated one later this year is going to be unbelievable. No steroids, no hrt, no trt ever! all natural 100% grass and organic fed. I’ve been tempted but I know/knew I wouldn’t be proud if I used cheater hormones. Day 14 no weed, it was the last unhealthy I was doing. I will not fail the mission.

Do you think you are not really serious about quitting smoking weed if you still have some paraphernalia around? I still have my bong and grinder around and I just can't seem to bring myself to get rid of them, making me feel like I'm keeping them around because a part of me wants to smoke weed again at some point although I know if I do I won't be able to moderate my use.

That was a really good response, and I completely understand you, but I think I'm a little bit different to you on this point, and it is because I don't have this "All in - mentality" I don't have it in my relationships, I don't have it in hobbyes and I don't have it in my bad habits either, I mean, althoug I want to quit weed, I never went all in with that, I have smoked for five years but no more than 2 or 3 days week. Also I think that balance is one of the keys of life. It's great and has worked really great for you, but I just feel like I'm different on that, and I don't know how to manage it.

What if you make a decision and stick to it with moderation. Say you are allowed to smoke once ever 3-4 months. That doesn't necessarily mean you will have to crave weed that whole time inbetween. It just mean you made a decision and you are sticking to it. With basically a few times a year that you can have a day off of relaxation and fun. You just cant wake up the next day telling yourself you will smoke just one more day. Its like how some people only drink alcohol a few times a year and they dont even crave it after.. Thats how i am with alcohol these days and i dont even think about alcohol anymore. But when i do have an experience its somewhat a nice change from normal life. But im not picking up a drink the next morning i wake up. You can do that with weed as well its a complete mindset thing.. If you cant discipline yourself to that point then dont. But i dont think anyone has to go the rest of their life never experiencing cannabis again.
