why I quit watching all YouTube growth channels but this one 

Wow, Wayne... I'm so honored by your kind words, and it's surreal to hear my name in your silky-smooth voice! Like you, I've spent countless hours watching experts, and I hit a point where I couldn't see myself in what they were talking about. (I'm not going to quit my job to go all-in on RU-vid; are they nuts?!?) I started to seek out people my age who were similarly minded, juggling work, families, and other adult responsibilities, and at the time, I couldn't find any. So, that became my focus. I can't tell you how to make money on RU-vid because I haven't made a dime, but I can certainly share my experience of forcing myself to film something after a long day at the office and then carting kids around to soccer practice. If nothing else, my goal was to help empathize with people who want to be creative but don't feel like they can for whatever reason, and there are so many of us. And I've been introduced to amazing, like-minded people such as yourself along the way, which has been the best part of this past year. Thank you so much for the encouragement, Wayne. Oh wow, new Gen X creator here. I could not agree more! And as a Gen X'r, I've long known that it's usually me people believe in, not just that I can do the work or add the value. I'm done with growth channels as well because they have given me "analysis paralysis", and as a result I've wasted a lot of time and energy.. Cheers from St. Paul, MN!

Yes, I agree with you. There is a fine line between consuming too much and not creating enough. I am a recovering perfectionist and suffer enormously from imposter syndrome, so those channels feed that internal fear of never being knowledgeable enough - for those who can relate. We all need to learn about the platform, but then we need to go out there and practice and practice. It is the only way to become good at anything (IMO). I think that as long as we are aware of where we are and where we want to go, that is enough to drive us to continue improving. Besides, those RU-vid channels are very repetitive in nature. I am very intentional in my RU-vid consumption these days.

Good stuff. I have found myself watching a lot of smaller youtubers going thru the "growing pains" as well. Feel like i can relate more to them. I was getting overwhelmed by the growth channels for similar reasons to what you stated. Thanks for sharing

Me too!!! They say the same thing over and over. It just feels like a way to get you to purchase their course.

On top of all that, those RU-vid Growth channels are the ones that are growing because everyone seems to watch them to grow their own channels. Did it for a while myself, no more! Oh the algorithms, oh to be on the searches, Oh the right tag, asterisk, proper title, thumbnail and blah blah blah. Just simply do it and be creative and let the dice fall where they may. Tee
