Spot on. We have no Tv but do have dvd’s. I take regular and extended breaks from social media and I’m notorious for ignoring my phone. I feel it’s an intrusion into my peace and my productivity. Try it it’s very freeing.

How do you watch DVDs if you don’t have a TV? Portable DVD players only last for so long and then they have to be charged

I love how he's on television telling you not to watch it. Also so far I'm yet to see a single pint despite the name of this channel. One time I saw a beer but it was 12 oz and not a pint.

With school online, I spend most of my day on a computer. Communicating with classmates and teachers requires using email. Class is videos and e-textbooks

Nice clip. I find that making intentional connections OFFLINE, and real community, which the Church is lacking now, is the answer. And coming together around things that draw us into reality instead of virtual reality, kind of like Joseph Pearce was saying about having a beer while listening to the church bells and cricket match. I think the more we intentionally interact with peoplel outside of technology, the more inclined we will be to continue to do so. But it takes more than just that, I think it also requires that element of WHAT we are uniting around, which could be religious for some people, but certainly shouldn't be ONLY religious. I think of a book called Power Failure by Albert Borgmann (whom I don't agree with on everything). He has a lot to say about the need for these communities of celebration to revitalize not only Christianity, but the world itself.

Cable was the worst when I was a kid, the computer is also pretty addicting, but I'm thankful that despite having a smartphone, I barely know how to use it. At the very least, when I'm away from the computer, I'm away from it. For that much, I'm grateful.

I ditched my iPhone and Apple Watch last Fall, and received a LightPhone II from my adult children for my birthday. It's freeing. I do kinda covet the Wise Phone that Matt has showcased though.

I actually don’t watch a lot of TV. I stay away from most of the current television series. the last one I watched was last Man standing & the series finale for that was a year ago. I occasionally watch EWTN, then I watch mlb baseball & college volleyball. Plus reruns of TV shows on some of those retro or family type channels. My cable subscription also is also how I get my home Internet. Though during holy week I will likely not be on the Internet very much, if at all. I DVRed the Divine Mercy chaplet and stations of the cross from EWTN to watch when I want to.

That's so good that he limits technology and the digital world. I am online WAY TOO MUCH. I think I have limited my imagination because I am always on the internet on my laptop or on my phone. I am internet glutton

I know what you mean, sometimes I can actually have my devices off for several hours if I choose to. I use the Internet to search for recipes and loom knitting ideas a lot.

Catholicism is not Christianity. The problem is not that it takes away from the gospel of Jesus. The problem is that it adds and adds to the simple gospel of Christ so as to make it of no effect.

We only watch premier league games and some March madness (more as it goes on and there are less games.) The ads can sometimes be controversial but for the most part, I’m ok with sports because I can talk to kids about the hard work and discipline they’ve put in their entire lives and point out an element of excellence. But network TV??? 🤮🤮nope
