My Sleeping bag:
amzn.to/30fHHh7
This little challenge has actually been my favorite so far. It's extremely low effort and high reward, so that's lit. Made my room feel massive, fixed my back pain and brings a smile to my face. What more could i ask for?
Also I've actually been doing it for over a month now (miscounted in the video). Absolutely no issues except that I saw a roach in my room the other day and am terrified I'm going to wake up in bed with a visitor :)
Strategy: No one reads the description so imma drop this here
I did a mix of casual vlogging style combined with the formal sit and talk. I did the usual splicing but toned it down significantly since i had a lot of extra video shots (which isn't typical).
So this vlog + splice formal + setting shots made pacing pretty satisfying. I didn't have to rely on any animations like last video so that saved me a lot of time. Additionally, I'm trying no text in the thumbnail. We can see how that affects click through rates. For example, matt has moved away from text in the thumbnail.
For next video: Also i tried to make the video 8 minutes, but failed horridly. I must have 10 minutes of footage bc I cut out a lot. More casual shots next time should increase the video length. Lit.

I had never heard that sleeping on the floor, or specifically a futon, would help your back. In fact every experience in life I've ever had sleeping on the floor, with or without a sleeping bag, has destroyed my back. When I went to Japan I was immediately sceptical about sleeping on tatami and a futon mattress, but it absolutely was the best sleep I've ever had and the best my back has ever felt on waking up. So not a placebo effect at all.

Great video bro and I feel you. The main reason I started sleeping on the floor is because I do a lot of workouts in my room with weights and also my family was doing construction on our basement and I live in the basement so a lot of things are just weird so I got to the point where I just had to put the frame away and I decided to put my mattress up vertically and then I just slept on the floor. I had SOOOOO MUCH space it blew my mind. The key to getting really good rest when sleeping on the floor is making sure you’re very active and eating about three hours 3 to 4 hours before you’re going to sleep. You have to be active that way when you go to sleep you’re already tired and you won’t have an issue falling asleep. I did landscaping this summer and worked at a grocery store and worked out/played basketball damn near everyday. I used 1 blanket on a carpet as my BED and 2 blankets as my covers. I did this a lot honestly. It was beautiful because when I would wake up I would get straight up there was no morning grog or nothing like that. I also learned to sleep on my back in the process. Because I’m not a back sleeper I had to do a lot of things to make myself tired so when I was sleep on my back I would fall asleep just off the strength that I was very tired. Where I’m staying at rn I prolly slept on the floor like 4 times and a weighted blanket was my cover :)))) GREAT sleep lol.

For me, I told my parents outright I’d be getting a shikibuton to sleep on the floor because the mattress I have now is so old and has been giving me lower back, shoulder, and neck pain and it has no more actual support - you just sink in. They’re supportive cuz they know my style of living is very different. I’m a minimalist also. And my mom, not my dad yet, knows I’m Buddhist so I prefer to have a free clean space to meditate and practice martial arts.

I would always sleep on the floor just whenever, (I have this weird personal thing where I have a hard time sleeping in one place for too long, so switching between the floor and my bed helped) then one day I started suffering extreme neck cramps. It would literally get to a point where my neck was so stiff I couldn’t turn it at all. I tried literally every exercise I could find, and while they helped they were only temporary solutions, meaning I’d have to do the exercises 2-5 times a day depending on how bad it was that day. But I noticed that whenever I slept on the floor it seemed like the stiffness was not as severe. Eventually I stopped sleeping on my mattress altogether and after, probably less than a month, I felt no soreness in my neck at all. Sleeping on the floor is definitely something I recommend people trying, especially if they have any stiffness in the spinal region. At least from my own experience it’s one of the best changes I’ve made, with low risk and high reward.

@itszeyth9863
@itszeyth9863 4 года назад
You have to give yourself a few weeks to a month to adjust. The issue is that your body is weak from sleeping on inferior western matresses. Buy a quality shikibuton and give it a shot if you have the money and curiosity. My shikibuton is currently getting some sun, and it changed my sleeping life. "Soft bed, soft body" ~Japanese proverb
@ThorstenLochmann
@ThorstenLochmann 4 года назад
Sam Rockwell Idk if sleeping on a mattress necessarily makes your body weak as long as you work out constantly but I’m sure you can get used to sleeping on the floor after some time and maybe it has some core stability benefits. Not worth giving up my comfort tho 😂 are there studies on this topic?
@itszeyth9863
@itszeyth9863 4 года назад
@@ThorstenLochmann Actually, there are plenty of anthropological studies done on humans and primates that support sleeping on more firm surfaces. Additionally, if you have to be physically adept in order to get a good night's sleep, then you've fell off the bus. Good sleep is for everyone!
@Dude-hs7zm
@Dude-hs7zm 6 месяцев назад
@@ThorstenLochmann a mattress is like cake. Both may make you feel good in the short term but over time you’ll quality of life will slowly deteriorate if they’re being “consumed” constantly. But that doesn’t mean you have to cut it out of your life completely. Getting a good futon instead of a mattress will separate you from the hard floors surface, but also keep the support of the floor. Just as having a slice of mini cake won’t negatively affect you, not in the way a regular slice would. It’s all about finding your balance. Plus, there’s literally been so many civilizations that did, and do, exist without mattresses and you’ll notice a historic lack of back pain. From my personal experience, switching to the floor is definitely a good idea. My stiff neck completely went away after maybe a month of sleeping on the floor. (Of course nothing is guaranteed, but it won’t hurt to try it out for two weeks and see if you have any positive results)

Stop using minimalism as a trend. Not having a bed is not even close to being a minimalist. It is mainly about priority and function. Because judging within the first five seconds into the video, from you background alone I can tell you have a lot of shits that are neither a priority or functional. Just get rid of other things as your bookshelves and piano so you can install you bed back in. Your back will thank you in the long run
@Dude-hs7zm
@Dude-hs7zm 6 месяцев назад
No, your back definitely WONT thank you for getting an unstable surface that sinks in where you’re heaviest, causing your spine to get all bent out of shape. Maybe you should try out sleeping on the floor/futon for a month before you make the absurd claim that it’s somehow worse for your body than a mattress. Or ant least do some research. Also, a piano is one object, I don’t see how it’s not minimalistic. It’s just as minimalistic as an acoustic guitar at least. If his priority is music, then a piano serves that function. The only thing I agree on is the books, but honestly who cares? Not everyone has to be exactly the same. I’d like to see a tour of your set up if you care so much for the sanctity of minimalism as a lifestyle.
