couple things-that wireless set your using is complete trash.Switch to either fieldpiece or I-manifold.Second is,if a tech is not prefilling manifold and hoses or emptying refrigerant back into system,those sman 460 will take 4.5oz of refrigerant out of each system each time.If its a mini split you have now compromised the critical charge.And last,the wireless technology helps with many situations such as monitering static pressure with the wireless manometer set as you adjust bypass dampers or zone damper bleeds without having to run back and forth to look.Also makes things much easier to check true superheat at evaporator instead of total superheat on a split system.I get your points,but its really a matter of just keeping up with technology

Thanks! those are very, very good points. I always purge and dump the charge back can before I disconnect my hoses when using my sman480s. Also I was completely aware of how trash the first-generation Testo's were, that's why I upgraded to the Fieldpiece probes : ) I did a video on the deal I got on eBay ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pVmb2jF5bU8.html

Went from the testo smart probes gen 2 to Fieldpiece probes, and it was a world of difference. I have the 6 piece set and it has been working nice, that said I've still got my old sman in the truck as backup. The fieldpiece use 2.4 instead of bluetooth so you actually get the range.

Cool! How do you like those rapid rail clamps? Are they pretty accurate temperature wise and forgiving on not so clean lines?
@pitobansheePR

You got to connect the psychrometer connected to the fieldpiece to be able to read the superheat ? Or it will read it anyway ?

Also, I just got these and when doing a tightness test or pressure test I feel as tho if I left them that the pressure would just keep dropping so today for instance my pressure dropped by 1.5 psig in 20 minutes and I checked throughly if my weld were good and my houses. I closed my manifold and point 1 (.1) of a psi would drop every 2 minutes or so 🤔 when you pressure test does you pressure just stay and that's that
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 3 года назад
Sounds like you might have a leak your pressure should not keep dropping. For the most part the pressure should stay the same, sometimes the pressure rises due to temp increase. Try checking your hoses and seals.

i have found to make sure the sensors are shut down or that you have fully closed out of the app if the testo app is running the probes wont turn off i had one probe one for almost an 1 hr before i realized it was still connected since they auto shut off when the app is closed out
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 3 года назад
Yeah I agree I've had that happen to me before as well lol. I actually just recently found out one of the temperature clamp probes has a phantom draw and is drawing power from the battery even when the probe is off. I contacted testo about it but there was nothing they would do about it seeing as no longer under warranty. I guess I'll have to leave the battery out until I need to use it which sucks...

You should try the Fieldpiece probes. I bought them back when they first came out and use them whenever I'm checking a system. Probes have the added advantage of taking next to no refrigerant out of the system. They've been flawless. I still bust out my manifold whenever I add refrigerant.
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 3 года назад
Yes sir! I just upgraded a few weeks ago and loving them. Also check out this video on how to charge with probes. Just make sure you use a lossless ball valve fitting on the end of the hose so you can purge the air out and throttle the refrigerant flow ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PIimE903TDs.html

@@HVACTechKnowledgy never did a line of sight test, typically have my hygrometers inside and the pressure transducers and clamps outdoors, I can usually walk around both inside and outside the house without issues, maybe I’m doing 40 ft? But that’s through walls, I can run a test and let you know

I had the same problem with the Testo wireless probes I even gave them a second chance and I purchased the new extended long range wireless probes and I still have the same problem. And I bought the Testo 557S and have the same problem and a lot of software glitches I own five Fieldpiece S man manifolds that is the best most reliable

I use MQ on a device that has ZERO connection to mobile data or WiFi. I am not sure what you mean around the 3:50 point.
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 3 года назад
Not sure if they've changed the update feature but around the time I recorded this video, every time I opened the app it would search for an update and if i didn't have good signal or Wi-Fi connection it would just search for the update forever. And that was both with an Apple and Android phone. Maybe it doesn't bother searching if you don't have a connection to data or Wi-Fi.
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 3 года назад
Yeah just tested it on my Apple phone turned off mobile data and Wi-Fi and a message saying that I didn't have Wi-Fi came up but I was able to proceed to the app but if it had really weak signal it just would have kept trying to update. But at least now I know if I want to use it when there is really weak signal just turn off Wi-Fi and data. Thanks!
@jrsmyth9761
@jrsmyth9761 3 года назад
@@HVACTechKnowledgy It is only asking to check for updates. When I turn my device on, I simply dismiss the notice and proceed to use the app without any issue. There may be, it's been awhile, an option to not see this message or not continually ask.
@HVACTechKnowledgy
@HVACTechKnowledgy 3 года назад
Yeah what I was saying is when I turn off Wi-Fi and data I CAN proceed to the app. But if Wi-Fi or data is on with no Signal it just searches for the update and will not allow you to proceed to the app until the search pinwheel status goes away which it never does because you have no signal to find the update...

I just got these ! I've already got the probe set and of course. I'm affriad that if I add refridgerant with these though I might mess with the sensor or something ? Do you find that or do you just go for it

I agree, but dont all digital test instruments require replacement once the sensor fails? I always just assumed by the time the sensors failed is time to replace the tool.

@@HVACTechKnowledgy The tool gathers info based on the sensor signal. The tool becomes useless if the sensor fails just like a car stops running if one of it's sensors fail. If/when the sensor is replaced, the device can be used.
